What do you need in January with short chilly days? A bracing walk by the sea and then cream tea, and the papers in front of gently crackling log fire in a 700 year old room. That's what you get here. And then retire to your extremely comfortable room where everything has been considered - dressing gowns, delicious biscuits, lovely...

We drove in at 1.45pm , parked , asked at the only reception desk if we might have a bar lunch ( light meal ) . There appeared to follow a consultation between the lady at reception and another lady in the rear hallway as to what we may be offered . That was a table in the dining room...

Dear Adam h, Thank you for your feedback and I'm so terribly sorry we did not make you feel welcome enough. Five minutes did not give us much time to make an impression. However, we should have been more prompt and assured and so you have my apology again. Mark Donovan

We stayed for 2 nights at the Bridge House. The staff were without exception welcoming, friendly and polite. Our room was very comfortable and the hotel was charming. The lounge area was cosy and relaxing and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. The food and service were fabulous. We dined in the restaurant both nights and had great meals. The...

Bridge House came up on a Travel Zoo deal, looked good so we thought we would give it a try. Friendly welcome and pleasant reception rooms for a pre dinner drink. The main dining rooms was occupied with a wedding party so we ate in the conservatory - bit chilly and not quite as inviting as the main dining but...

Dear richardcI9593JM, Thank you for your review and I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay. I can only agree that Beaminster is quite wonderful and we're very glad to be there. I will add that our neighbouring business is very discreet. You would hardly know it was there and is well screened from the hotel. We very much look...

Arriving with a disabled friend for a 3 night stay, within 5 minutes I had stupidly locked myself out of my room. Escorted to the sitting room for some welcome tea, we were amazed to see the chef through the window, climbing a ladder, to access my room via the window, to deal with the problem! A great start to...

Dear rosemaryis, Thank you so much for your positive review which is appreciated by all at the Bridge House. And I'm glad to hear one of our chef's proved his talents go beyond the kitchen. Point taken about the lighting and will try to remedy. Once again, thank you for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you again,...

Three of us arrived the night before Christmas Eve, my husband, dog Tilly and me. Christine was on duty at reception and she couldn't have been more helpful. Harry, the manager, was the same. Nothing was too much for either of them and we were all made so very welcome, particularly Tilly. Our room (we were fortunate to have taken...

I booked with my brother and my partner, specifically looking for a short break where I could take my 7 month old puppy. We were told the hotel was dog friendly, and that we would be able to eat with the dog in the bar area or conservatory (but not the main restaurant). They even left two dog biscuits in...

Dear Leveller99, Thank you for your feedback. I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your food and our wine list. Being a country hotel, albeit in town, we do very much welcome dogs and their owners. Getting the balance right can be difficult as not all our customers are dog lovers and have equal right to be dog...
