We stopped here having alighted the train at Umberleigh station on the "Otter Line". It was early evening but food was being served so we stayed for an excellent meal. Not a very long or complicated menu, but perfectly cooked and presented.

Went to The Rising Sun for tea on a Tuesday during our romantic getaway. We had a salmon starter and Cod & chips for main - both came out quickly and were lovely! Reasonably cheap and great quality with friendly staff who are up for a chat, with a gorgeous Labrador who was just as friendly. I would recommend to...

We stopped in Umberleigh for a day out and found this wonderful pub.The hosts made us feel very welcome and despite the kitchen being almost closed for lunch , they still managed to make us baguettes and chips. The couple running the place (who I believe have only taken over a short while ago ) along with their very beautiful...

Great surroundings in an idyll setting with the river running by. The owners very welcoming and friendly, as well as the locals. Food and real ale was excellent and dog friendly to. The only downside was the room, the bedding was damp, but this could be the time of year and the benefit of heating may cure that in the...

Just spent four days at this hotel and although the rooms maybe a little tired the warmth and friendliness of Jules and the team more than made up for this. We ate at the hotel each evening and the quality was excellent. Jules was interested in making our stay comfortable and was more than happy to recommend places of interest...

We stayed for two nights last weekend after watching our cricket team get beaten at Instow. This pub/hotel is nicely situated for visiting the surrounding area. The couple who run it are attentive and hard working in their efforts to please guests. It really does have a good atmosphere, when we got back from cricket there was a three piece...

Check in was quick and we were given help with our cases up to our room - thank you! I'm afraid that the stairs are rather steep for someone of limited mobility - my wife needed help in both directions. The room was clean and comfortable, with a nice ensuite. However, there was a broken window, only partially covered with...
