Welcoming polite and helpful staff. Extremely comfortable bed. Bedroom and bathroom could do with upgrading. Food in the restaurant was superb. Spa facilities were amazing. Thank you for a relaxing much needed break!

We had a great couple of days at Ilsington, relaxing in the spa and enjoying the countryside. The hotel is beautifully located on the edge of the village and overlooking Dartmoor itself. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the food good. We enjoyed the pool and spa especially. The only downside are the bedrooms/bathrooms, which although spacious and comfortable are...

Dear Gareth H, Thank you for taking the time to review Ilsington and we are delighted you had such an enjoyable time. The bedrooms and bathrooms do vary within the hotel and some, naturally older than others. By the end of the winter we shall have completed another 5 bedrooms and bathrooms which is all part of our ongoing renovation...

There's a lot to like about this hotel. It's position is great for eastern Dartmoor. The staff are friendly and helpful. Lounges are comfortable - with a lovely log fire when we went - and the dining room has a nice view towards Haytor. The food was good too, tasty well cooked, although desserts were a bit disappointing. I gather...

Dear Skippo, Thank you for taking the time to write a review and it appears that you enjoyed the majority of the hotel, although we are sorry you only rated us 'average'. Shame also that you didn't use our wonderful Spa which has just won gold in the Spa and Wellness category at the Devon awards. Obviously furnishings are down...

I booked two nights as a treat for my wife and I, hotel decor is country style - I prefer the more modern look but it was nice all the same, certainly not enough to knock my score down. The bed was very comfy, staff were great, room was nice, the food was excellent. The spa is amazing - really...

We had a night here without the kids as a relaxation treat before the arrival of No.3. Very friendly staff and beautiful location. The rooms are fine, a little dated perhaps, but still very nice and comfortable (had a great nights sleep!). The Spa has clearly recently been refurbished and is fantastic, with a lovely pool, jacuzzi, sauna/steam rooms, etc...

My friend and I visited here with her parents a number of years ago (2010) and it's still a very fond memory. I loved everything about the hotel, it's period features and gorgeous setting and wonderful service. We stayed for a long weekend and it was more than enough to make use of their spa facilities i.e heated pool, sauna...

Fantastic hot stone massage in the spa, the therapist listened and made the massage suit me perfectly. Relaxed and friendly hotel with an excellent restaurant. Nice touches such as nibbles with pre dinner drinks and hand made petit four with coffee. Three different types of pillow made the bed very comfy.

Have recently returned home after a weekend away at this hotel. Staff were very friendly on arrival, warm welcome and nice setting. Room could do with being updated. Comfy bed, smallish size room but nice view. Bathroom needs a revamp, shower needs replacing. Spa great, sauna and jacuzzi relaxing. Pool temperature a tiny bit cold but probably good for people...

We stayed here for one night as part of a family weekend break. Everything was fantastic. Our room was traditional in decor but very comfortable. Homemade flapjacks await in your room and are delicious. The spa is excellent and well appointed. We didn't have any treatments but the facilities were excellent. The gym was also good with a better than...

Dear Netty1313, Thank you for your feedback. The 2-course buffet you had was included in our conference 'package' and is designed to be a lighter more 'basic' offering as opposed to a full dressed buffet for a special event or function. We can always provide more extensive lunch options for those on a conference, similar to what you have experienced...
