If you’re looking looking for boutique and chic in an old fashioned mill, look no further . A 15th century flour mill modernised to extremely high standards . It’s beautiful . This is our 9th stay (boring I know, but it’s great for my birthday). Staff are perfect and the food is deserving of multiple awards, it is simply excellent. Come here to relax and walk the Teign valley . Couldn’t recommend this highly enough .

Hotel's Favourite
This delightful small hotel wraps you in a warm hug and was a perfect destination for our one night getaway. The traditional old building is tucked away in beautiful Devonian countryside and is attractively decorated throughout. Our room, at the top of the hotel, was very characterful and comfortable with a pretty view and an elegantly functional en suite (lovely products). A nice touch, too, was the offer (in the room literature) of a choice of pillows and bedding to suit. Our dinner was fab...really delicious, well presented food from start to finish. Excellent wine and service. Good breakfast too. Finally, the staff were all great...helpful and friendly. A special place to stay and we hope to return.

We recently went to Mill End as part of a surprise for my mothers 70th birthday. We had the most wonderful afternoon tea, with all dietary requirements catered for, with no issues and nothing was too much trouble. On the day, the staff were welcoming, friendly, explained what we had to eat, refreshed drinks promptly etc. We had excellent service and will absolutely be visiting again. Thank you to you all!

My husband and I stayed here for a night in February. The hotel, food, staff and setting was higher than our expectations. Our evening meal and the afternoon tea was delicious and the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. To top it off we even got a goody bag on check out to say thank you for staying! I would recommend!

As previously, we found Mill End to be the perfect retreat with our dog. The decor was fresh and the room comfortable and clean. The staff are delightful and the food delicious. We love the walking around the hotel along the river to Chagford, or up to Castle Drogo. The perfect opportunity to recharge our batteries. We will be back!

Stayed here on the way to Cornwall, to break up the journey. Really just wanted a nice meal + a comfy bed, well we got that and more. From the moment I booked, with Emma, we had an amazing stay. Checked in + had help with bags up to our room, which was Harbourn, at the top of the house. The room was lovely + had everything you could possibly need. The homemade shortbread + chocolate truffles were a really lovely touch, as was the fresh milk in the fridge. There were full sized Temple Spa products in the bathroom, which is much nicer than the tiny bottles you normally get in hotels. We ate in the restaurant + the food was amazing. The menu is short ( which I always think is a good sign) and everything was of the highest quality + absolutely delicious. Service was really good, and all of the staff were excellent. Had the best nights sleep in ages, bed was super comfy + the room was really quiet. Breakfast the next morning was also delicious, with a really good selection of hot and cold dishes. We had such a lovely time that we changed our plans on the way home so that we could spend another night here + we will definitely return. Thank you everyone at Mill End for making our stays so enjoyable.

The Mill end hotel is the perfect hotel for a winter break. The wood burning stove in the lounge provides a cosy place to sit for pre-dinner drinks. The staff are wonderful and the service is excellent. The food is superb with a different menu each evening and plenty of choice. The wine list is especially good and i was pleased to see a choice of English wine amongst the selection. We travelled as a family and booked two rooms. Both rooms were lovely. The location is perfect for exploring Dartmoor and there are lots of places of interest within 30 minutes drive from the hotel, plus there are walking paths which start from the hotel itself. Our only issue was with the hotel computer system. Perhaps it is new, perhaps it has a bug, but it added lots of spurious charges to our bill which did not make any sense. These anomalies came to light when I asked for a copy of our bill, one afternoon, half way through our stay. None of the staff on duty that afternoon could understand the charges added to the bill and I had to wait until the next day before a member of staff was able to understand what had happened and amend the bill. It was sorted out, but it did cause me some stress until that point. For example, there was a spurious service charge of £18.90 which was supposed to be 10% of something. That would have meant that something had cost £189, there wasn't anything for sale in the hotel which cost £189, not dinner, not a round of drinks, nothing. The charge was removed but we never did work out why that £18.90 was there. this was one of several anomalies. Perhaps the system issues have been resolved at the time of writing but I would recommend guests check their bill carefully. Other than the billing system, I would be happy to recommend the Mill End hotel.

Dear 8182AOelizabetha, Thank you for your review. It is lovely to read that you enjoyed your Winter Break stay with us. We pride ourselves on our professional, friendly front of house team who will always make sure that nothing is too much trouble. Chef will be thrilled to see your comments, his entire team work tirelessly creating mouth watering dishes on our daily changing menu to tantelise the tastebud. We are extremely lucky with our location, all but a 10 minute drive to the main road if you'd like to explore further afield, and 2 fantastic walks right on our door step if you'd like to stay local. I am incredibly sorry that we had glitches with the system that caused errors on your bill, which then in turn caused yourselves stress, this issue has been resolved and has not happened since asking the tech team to look into this for us, we are still not sure as to why this happened but it is being investigated to ensure it does not happen again. We always do ask guests to check through bills on departure just incase any errors are made, and on the rare occasion that there is an issue we can then swiftly rectify the problem. We hope you had a safe journey home and very much look forward to welcoming yo back again soon. Kind regards Emma Pick

What a lovely place to end a very nice walk across the Gorge just a stones throw from the hotel, even though we do not live that far away from here, it was a real pleasure to stay, the service and staff are fantastic, very gracious and helpful, Lemon room was a treat and highly recommended!. We met Will the chef who creates a superb range of food and is totally committed in providing locally sourced sumptuous food, i was surprised by how much choice there was for all the courses, especially the desserts (the Ale Sticky Toffee pudding was awesome!). We will most certainly visit again as the cost of a night with a fantastic meal, was more than reasonable and we have already recommended this to our friends.
