Took a chance on leaving A38 as I did not know the area at all and was lucky to find The Abbey Inn. Lovely welcome from staff who were very helpful. Lovely setting alongside River Dart. Decent choices at reasonable prices on menu. Waited a while for our meal but were kept informed by our helpful waitress that the delay...

Very well sited on A38, easy parking. Undoubtedly very popular during peak holiday season as there is lots of outside space and tables overlooking the river. We were fairly late arrivals for a Saturday evening meal and had not booked but the staff were very helpful in promising to keep us informed about when a table was free. Food was...

I only spent one night here but the great location, warm hospitality and amazing food (including vegetarian options) made me wish I could stay longer! Jake and Cecilia were very accommodating, reserving me a table in the dog-friendly bar to meet a family member for dinner. My single river-view room in the attic was cosy but quite adequate, and I...

If you are driving to or from Cornwall this is a great place to have a break. I ordered burger and chips and was stunned by the freshness of it plus very natural flavours. You can sit outside right next to a major fast flowing river and enjoy nature! Pricing was OK and the service very good plus free newspapers....

First time of visiting here. We stopped for a meal, we had to wait a long time for service. There were several staff rushing around but not paying much attention to the restaurant. Also when the plates were collected the waitress said do you want anything else? Instead of would you like to see the dessert menu. The food however...

Took a party of pensioners for lunch here as an outing for a local charity. All the way back the bus was full of positive talk. Had to give it a try that very evening. Different staff, but same warm and friendly welcome. Great choice on the menu and great choice of drinks too😍 Will be recommending to everyone. Top...

I stayed here for one night only with my family as we had a funeral to attend and although the visit from London to Buckfastleigh was not one of my top 10 visits it was made all the better by the wonderful stay at Abbey Inn. The staff were very attentive to our needs before the funeral, they made sure...
