We stopped for lunch on way to our holiday cottage. Menu is what I would call proper pub food, nothing fancy but good price and was very nice. Views from restaurant are amazing and the building is quite quirky as parts very old. Quite a few steps so if mobility is limited may not be able to cater, check first. Toilet I think had a couple of steps. Friendly welcome for humans and dogs. Would recommend if in the area.
Seven family members for lunch today at the Palk Arms. It was delicious! Two of us had the lamb and mint burgers, really good and absolutely the freshest buns, hot crispy chips, homemade coleslaw, two people had the ploughmans - gorgeous fresh bread, LOADS of cheese and ham, pickles, salad etc beautifully presented, another bangers and mash (Great!) , one Hunters Chicken with bacon, and one crab cakes. Everything was so good! Thank you, Chef, for one of the best meals we could imagine - lots of it, piping hot, beautifully presented and just plain delicious! Amazing views while we ate, gazing across the valley, and great hospitality from the team who looked after us. If only more country pubs could do this - it was perfect.
Stayed at finlakes for a week, decided to go for lunch at Palm Arms, having looked at website and states it’s open Wednesday from 12 noon, my husband, myself and my two small boys walked all the way from finlakes for a nice walk then to have lunch at Palk Arms. We arrived only to find it closed, what a disgrace, my little boys were tired and hungry. If you can’t be bothered to update your website accordingly don’t bother running a business. We will never try to come to this establishment again, we researched the website to make sure it was open before setting off only to find it closed and doesn’t open til 4.30pm Didn’t say this on website Badly run Don’t bother going Lisa
Me and my partner went in to this pub on the spur of the moment, we were staying at the campsite over the road and fancied a hot meal. the service was just very very good, in fact i would go so far as to call it perfect. the waitress (bar maid?) was very attentive without being too in your face, and it genuinely felt like they were happy we were there, a rarity nowadays. the menu choice was good for a pub and the quality of the food was good even for a restaurant. The beer was good too! some of the reviews i read before going in there i can only assume were written either about somewhere else or the some people are just impossible to please. i would happily go back and i would recommend the Palk Arms to everyone
I think maybe the Palk has recently changed hands as the quality of the food has really gone downhill. £10 for a thai green chicken curry that was no better than a lidl one. Kids chicken nuggets are now frozen shop type ones, not fresh chicken breast. Such a shame.
