My Stepson and his girlfriend (now wife) married at Bickleigh Castle this last weekend. Before I write my personal opinions of the Castle, let me first start off by saying to any potential traveller or in-fact, couples who are looking for a wedding venue, if you want fast paced, loud, or the latest in late night entertainment then this is...

We stayed at Bickleigh Castle for one night in April. A lovely venue with a wonderful history. Our room was in one of the thatched cottages around the main courtyard, traditionally furnished and with a double bed and small shower room. Our hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We were fortunate to have lovely weather &,...

We arrived on Friday afternoon and shown to our rooms which were just beautiful. John and his family could not do enough for us. We were a party of six. If we requested a bottle or wine they provided it if we needed milk it was there nothing was too much trouble. The staff serving at breakfast were cheerful and...

An experience thoroughly enjoyed for its location, the wonderfully helpful staff and owners and the castle tour given by John, the owner, full of interest, humour and delivered with personable and easy style. Wi-fi only available in communal lounge. Mobile phone service either non existent or variable, depending on company, but lovely to be unobtainable!

It was a last minute decision to book a night away and we are so glad we did :) We arrived at Bickleigh Castle having just been on a beautiful canal trip in Tiverton and we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who immediately made us feel welcome. He showed us to our family room which was on the 1st...

We have just stayed in the cottages at Bickleigh Castle. It was a 2 night Amazon purchase and worth every penny and more. Time out from a busy life to slow down in relaxing surroundings. The couple that run it are friendly and helpful and obviously love the place. The castle tour is interesting and the host well informed. They...

Well worth a stay if you want a base in Devon. The castle is about 4 miles South of Tiverton and, when you reach Bickleigh, its signposted. As its name suggests and informs you, its a CASTLE!! If you like pomp, ceremony, luxury and stuffy places, then steer clear! (Remember, its a castle not the Ritz). In the main section...

You enter the road to Bickleigh Castle on a very sharp hairpin and then the magic starts! The drive (or walk) to the Castle is through beautiful woodland and runs adjacent to the majestic river Exe. The harsh realities of modern life immediately disappear to be replaced by the tranquility, beauty and peaceful atmosphere of fairy-like, natural surroundings. Eventually the...

Bickleigh Castle offers a great place to stay if you want to go get away from it all, without any of the interruptions of modern life. The property is accessed via a sharp hairpin bend in the road and a single-lane track. I’d recommend passing the spacious main car park driving into the castle grounds to check in and unload...
