This beautifully situated hotel is grand, clean, elegant and welcoming. It is peaceful and warming to the soul. Viewing Downpatrick Head, and walking the country paths cheer your soul. The hostess goes to extra lengths to cater to your needs during your stay. Food was excellent, and service was great. There are beautiful antiques, many from the World of Golf!...

This was a bit of a splurge (probably towards the upper end of the mid-range level) but also the most spectacular place in which we stayed in Ireland. Beautifully appointed bedrooms and public spaces with vintage furnishings. Welcoming and helpful host; excellent dining room for both dinner and breakfast. I would have been happy spending the entire day there just...

This charming inn overlooks Downpatrick Head and in addition to a lovely view from your room, you have the sound of the ocean outside your window! Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and helped to our room. The room was clean, comfortable and furnished in period pieces of this historic building. A highlight is the excellent food. Each of our...

Great setting for a quite break. Great location, nice views, good scenic walking. Room was big, very well finished. Bathroom was nice, plenty of hot water. Food, though a small menu, was very good. Staff extremely helpful.

Stella Maris does everything right from their gracious greeting to their lovely food. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the public spaces elegantly and eclectically furnished. The building was first a coast guard station, then a convent, then a manor house before being extensively improved and converted into an inn. Excellent staff, all lively, sophisticated conversationalists.

Fine property, good view, clean standard linen and quilts identical to cheaper hotels during our trip. Restaurant advertised but only starters and desserts on offer. Wondered if arrived on quiet or closed night.Waitress confused by my asking if there was a different menu other nights and had to ask Owner. Apparently no, this is the restaurant menu. Room facilities basic,...

I can honestly say i've never been greeted more warmly to a hotel in all my travelling - met at the door by Frances , nothing was too much trouble even to the point where breakfast was laid on over an hour before the usual time on a Sunday morning as I had to be away. Food was excellent and...

Lovely friendly place. We were there for 1 night. We got a warm welcome from the owner. The building has a lot of interesting history. We had dinner there and the food was fab and a bonus of amazing views. Just one comment. Needs a tea tray in the room and water. Amazing view.

This is a beautiful place. The highlight was sitting out in the conservatory looking over the sea while sipping my gin and tonics. Lovely dinner and a lovely waitress. Can't say enough good things about this place. Well worth a visit. Wished we had stayed more than the one night.

It is not difficult to understand why opinions could be divided in relation to this establishment. At the turn off on the road from Ballycastle, the sign says Stella Maris Hotel B&B, giving the first indication that is it not clear whether this is a hotel or a bed and breakfast. The exterior of the building is weather beaten, and...
