This guest house is beside the train station and only 5 minutes walk to the centre of Portlaoise. We took the car and had access to the private car park. Although the house itself is not modern the bedrooms are very clean and large with very pretty decor in line with the age of the building. Our hosts were very...

I would highly recommend this beautiful B&B. From the warm welcome, friendly hosts, delicious home cooked breakfast (all locally produced) the list goes on. We have never been to Ireland before and wanted something typically Irish and cosy-The Ivyleigh ticked all the boxes. The location is conveniently located next to Portloaise train station which was excellent for us as we...

Based on the reviews we booked this B+B, the management photos are not a true reflection of the condition of the house now. There was a strange musty smell throughout. Our double bed room was shabby and drafty. Electric blanket worked on one side only but there was an oiled filled heater if required. The nice, chatty and informative Hostess...

Thank you for your comments. Sorry our house is not what you expected, it maybe not to everyone,s taste. I don't know how you would say there was a musty smell as the house is well ventilated. It may have been the lilly's which gave off a scent. As for the Prison, we are very safe, it is very secure....

Hey, yes, my title is all about the breakfast, which I will get to later, but that would be selling short the hosting skills of the lovely couple who looked after us, for sadly only one day. First, it was booked prior to daughter breaking a leg, and when we contacted the host regarding stairs she might have to climb, offered...

Hard to tell something wrong about this accommodation. Very well situated near the centre of Portlaise. Railway station at walking distance. Hosts are wonderful and do everything what they can. Breakfast with fresh products is the best I've ever had. Dont' need lunch after that. Little secret: Dinah, the host, likes (Belgian) chocolates :-)

This is a great little bed and breakfast close within easy walking distance of the centre of Portlaoise. The single room was a good size and had an en suite with a nice large shower. There were loads of choices for breakfast, I had strawberries, cereals, freshly baked homemade bread and scrambled eggs with salmon. All the options seemed to...

This is a beautiful house to stay in with a particularly fabulous breakfast. The produce being from the garden or home made. We were welcomed very warmly and made very comfortable during our short stay. We would highly recommend to anyone staying in Portlaoise. A real find!
