My first time going to the island and my partner wanted to stay near the beach. We couldn't have made a better choice. The location of this B&B is perfect. Yes its in the "middle" of the island which was perfect for us - away from the crowds at the port but not too far away from the sites. We stayed for 5 days jam packed with excursions on our bikes, picnics, sunsets on the beach and even a spot of seal watching and fishing!!. We were concerned about the service & hospitality we would received at Kilmurvey due to COVID 19 and the issues around that... but didnt have to worry! Social distancing in the dining room was conformed to. Breakfast 10* - wonderful spread with some extra touches - Baileys with your porridge, berries & yoghurt with a twist... Another concern was eating out in the evening. The management at the hotel/B&B made sure we would be driven and fetched from any eatery and even put on meals in the evening. The room (furnishing, fittings and bed) were the most comfortable . Our suite had a sitting area where we could look out at the view. You cant get much better than that. We loved it so much we are going back...

This trip was our second time staying at Kilmurvey House. With the current Covid-19 issues, we were not sure what to expect. We shouldn't have worried. Treasa was the ultimate host. Sanitiser was placed at every entrance and masks were worn in public places. Everything else was the same as before. Our room was excellent, spotless and well equipped. Tea/Coffee making facilities were located in the lounge and written procedures were present to help address the Covid-19 requirements. The food was its usual extremely high quality. The buffet was reduced in scope with everything individually wrapped to ensure Covid compliance. Treasa has also worked hard to ensure social distancing for the guests including the layout of the dining room which changes daily depending on who she has staying at Kilmurvey House Each day of our stay we ordered packed lunches...WOW!!!...If you do nothing else, treat yourself to one of Treasa's packed lunches before you head out for your day of exploring (you won't need dinner!!)...A selection from home made brown bread, butter, cheese, tomato, egg, ham, tuna, fruit, tea/coffee, muffin or fruit cake are provided. Kilmurvey house is a perfect location from which to explore the northern half of Inishmore.

Stayed at Kilmurvey House from Sept 1 to 12, excepting the weekend which I spent in Doolin. The island is beautiful and fascinating. The guest house is gorgeous, with very comfortable en-suited rooms and beautifully furnished common areas creating warm, homey atmosphere. Tea and coffee is available at all times in the lovely living room, beside the open fire. What sets this place apart is the service. The host is just amazing and the staff are always eager to do anything to make your stay more comfortable. The breakfasts are possibly the best available anywhere in the world. Where else are you served porridge with Bailey's Irish Cream or Guinness? There is a vast selection of cereals, breads, fruits and juices plus a wide choice of hot foods (and if you don't like what's on the menu, just state your preference and they are likely to oblige!). Kilmurvey House is a little isolated - with just a cafe and a few shops selling knitwear and crafts nearby, but it's on an island you don't go to looking for glitter and bright lights. It's the perfect location for a retreat or quiet getaway. Enjoy scenic walks or ride in a horse-drawn dray. Cycle. Lunch in a delightful cafe offering superb country-style foods. Or just relax and soak up the peace in a location that time and progress has largely forgotten (but that never the less offers all the conveniences you really need, such as Internet access, and transport to the village when you need ATM, supermarket, restaurants, pubs, etc.) If you like peace, home-style comfort, a friendly and obliging hostess, and the best that nature has to offer, there is nowhere better to holiday.

The last time I stayed in Kilmurvey House was nearly 50 years ago when there was no electricity and we lit our candle in the hallway and went like Wee Willie Winkie up to our bedrooms when we came home late from the ceili. Fond memories. This time it was much more sophisticated without having lost any of its homeliness or old world charm. Very comfortable, fire lighting in sitting room in the evenings where you could make your own tea or coffee at any time. They don't generally do meals except for breakfast which was most delicious - lots of choices and the fruit compote was to die for. Don't know where they get the huge berries from. First time I've come across shots of whiskey or Baileys to pour on your porridge. Treasa was a wonderful hostess - nothing was too much trouble. Located at the foot of Dun Aonghus, the village of Kilmurvey is several kms from Kilronan, the 'capital' of the island, but there is local transport - minibus, pony & trap and bicycles for hire - not exactly what you'd get in the city but available in a way that you can work your day around. You would have to travel to Kilronan to eat in the evenings unless you had your main meal during the day in Man of Aran café (wonderful food) a few yards from Kilmurvey House. You could buy food there for eating later in the evening and make your cup of tea in Kilmurvey House. The village itself is quaint and has tourist and confectionery shops and cafe. I hope to get back again and again to this very peaceful place.

We stayed here last weekend 24th August and it was just Fabulous. Yes its a bit far from the village but its worth it, the owners are lovely genuine people that made our stay so comfortable, they really couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast is one of the best we have ever had. The family room we stayed in was spotless and very spacious. A pleasure to stay in this B & B.
