I was deeply touched by my two week stay at La Mariposa. I went to improve my Spanish, which I did, but gained so much more because of their environmental and social justice philosophy and practice. I was very impressed with the one-on-one Spanish lessons...More
I stayed at La Mariposa for two weeks over Christmas, 2016 with my daughter and her children, ages 7 & 4. The original idea was for them to learn Spanish. Well, no doubt they did gain some language, but we all experienced so much more...More

We stayed at La Mariposa for 4 weeks over Christmas 2016 with our 2 children who are 6 and 8 years old.
We were in the family bedroom which was very comfortable for the 4 of us with our own shower room and toilet.

This is Paulette, the director of La Mariposa. It is important to be clear what we are talking about! Chagas does not exist here nor has there been a case of malaria for 15 years. La Concha, population over 50,000 has had 6 confirmed cases of Zika, they are all now fully recovered. Rabies has not been seen here in many years (I have lived here 12 years and never heard of a case) and there is a government program to vaccinate all dogs free of charge. Dengue is more of an issue, there are occasional cases here so important to protect from mosquitoes. I hope some of the many families who have stayed here and loved it reply to you as well!!
