We started traveling with our dog and have used Candlewood in the past. It's nice to know what to expect. The kitchen works great because of everything they provider. Beds are comfortable and there is room to branch out too. What I like is their outdoor patio area which we have used in the past, not so much this trip. Trust me, some of the places we have stayed at on this trip were so questionable, at least you know what to expect at Candlewood Suites.
Clean and smelled brand new. Really great and friendly staff. Some riff raff staying in the hotel that got drunk and threw up in the hallway but that was to no fault of the place. Beds and shower super clean and comfy. Slept very well after a long days drive.
We checked in late after a day of sorting and boxing for my father’s 600 mile move. We just needed a place to sleep. First room, 209, the toilet would flush. Desk staff comes to the room and has no clue how to use a plunger but he tries. He leaves saying he thinks it’s fixed, or but offers to leave the plunger?? We attempt to flush a tissue - doesn’t work. We call him back. His manners are off the chart horrid and his skill with a plunger is laughable again. He offers we can stay in the room ( and not use the toilet?) or move to another room. Husband follows him downstairs to make the switch. Another customer is there and states he cannot get in his room as the security latch is thrown and someone is in there (room 220). The desk calls the room, a person answers, and the desk staffer says he’s just checking to make sure the room is okay (!!) So he puts the customer into a room on the 4th floor. Now ready to help my husband ... he sets everything up after looking for an open room and before handing my husband the key, he takes it back and has to change it. He puts us in room 221. We move, we get right to bed and every 15 mins or so, I’m waking up uncomfortable. I’m so tired, I just want to sleep and I try but it becomes obvious that something is wrong. The bed has a large (2 feet wide) circle that is at least 2 inches lower than the rest of the bed. It’s like sleeping over a hole. I don’t know if someone dropped a bowling ball on the bed or jumped on it for hours, but my back is screaming in pain. I head to the desk. I speak now with a female clerk who is pleasant enough and I ask her to come to my room to see this and understand I’m not crazy. She says I’m not the first one to complain about that bed ( why the hell is it still in use then??!!??). I confirm that we are in 221, and she says she can move us to 220. Then she says, hold on, looks like you were already in that room!! Nope, never was. But remember, that was the room someone complained was already occupied and I’m betting, the first desk clerk almost put us in it too. So 1:30 and I’m finally in a room and the bed doesn’t have a hole, but man o man is it way too soft. Crappy hotel, crappy service, broken crapper, broken bed, but we’ll still charge you for it. And, oh, a clicking ice maker in the fridge that is about to make me see red! Warn everyone you know about this hotel!!!!!…
We had called ahead of time to confirm whether they could hold bags for us, to which they assured us they would. Lo and behold when we arrived, they said that they would not. We had asked for two beds and when we were finally able to check in, there was only a single bed available and everything else was completely booked. They did not have any pull out sofa bed or a cot they could bring up. They were nice enough to comp some water bottles we purchased. I will say it was clean, no bugs. The shower head could have been a little higher and have more water pressure.
These rooms are very clean. Very happy with our stay here. The pool is clean. Staff is very friendly. Close to everything which is nice. Very quiet hotel. Beds are very comfortable. It's like living in an apartment. I highly recommend people to stay here if they are traveling through the area.
