We spent one night here before beginning an 8 day trek (Choquequirao - Machu Picchu). Our stay was v. disappointing. The rooms were dirty - shower was so dirty that we didn't use it. Mold on the ceilings. Sheets were dirty, floorboards lifting off the ground. I don't need much - a clean bed to sleep on would do it....

In Cachora, there are one or two much more expensive acomodation options (one was for example more than twice the price of Tres balcones) and also cheaper options (but you won't have a private bath). I found that Tres Balcones was a very good and pleasant intermediary option with everything which matters to us, for a reasonable price. The owner...

I traveled to Cachora in August 2013 solo within a larger group as my first venture outside the US. I met with the owner of "Los Tres Balcones" Oscar through a mutual friend and he was available, informative, and helpful in all stages of planning my trip. The coordination of travel from Cuzco to Cachora was perfect and the drive...

Several years ago we travelled with four families with teen-aged children on an excursion arranged by the owner of Tres Balcones, into Choquequirau. It was beyond memorable - a highlight of the many international travels we have experienced as a family. The night prior and the night after the treck we relaxed at Tres Balcones. The lodging was simple, comfortable,...

My wife and I traveled to Peru to go on a five day trek to the ruins at Choquequirao, starting our hike at Cachora. We found this quaint family run hostel which has delightful. We have traveled India, Africa and now Peru. Clean rooms, hot showers, flushing toilets, what more could we ask for. It was exactly what we were...

I've probably been on about 20 "trips of a lifetime" from the jungles of Guatemala to the Arctic Circle moose hunting and canoeing the Colville River, to Winter Storms, 100 knot winds in the Aleutian Islands in January, but the one organized by Oscar for me, my Three Daughters, My friend and his daughter, had to be right at the...

First of all, in all the fairness I would like to update my previous review- the promised refund for the accommodation did arrive, few month later, but it did for the full night accommodation we paid. Second- This place is not in the Sacred Valley, it is three hours away fro Cuzco. I sent a note with detailed explanation of...

Cachora is a starting point for the Choquiquerao trail, leading to the Sacred sister of Machu Picchu. There is not whole lot information on the accommodation in Cachora in the guidebooks, we were told of theTres Balcones by a customer who stayed with them last year. Although the cost of the accommodation was fairly high, $20 per person, we have...
