We were in transit so could not stay more than one night. The owner/host was super friendly and is generous with his time if you have questions. The Inn is lovely and in such a convenient location. It is just outside of the downtown area so not surrounded by fast food restaurants and noisy traffic. It is in a peaceful location surrounded by nature just at the edge of town. It is quick and easy to get into town for a meal, shop or sightsee. The breakfast is wonderful. We were able to choose any item from the menu; freshly prepared and delicious. From the Inn, we were able to get to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial quickly and easily. We were surprised at how much there is to do and see in the area. Sweetgrass Inn would make an excellent base for a few days to catch all that the area offers.

We chose the Sweetgrass Inn B&B for the location - it's close to the main road to all of the south Black Hills points of interest. Super easy! The room was much more "private" than other B&B's we have stayed in which we really liked. We had deer in the field next to the room each night, very quiet and lot's of stars. The breakfasts (and dinners) were top notch. We had to get on the road much earlier than posted breakfast hours one day and Montey had our order prepared and ready for the road before we showed up at the door! We completely recommend staying at Sweetgrass Inn.

We were looking for a place to stay that is safe, clean and reasonable. This place fit the bll for us perfectly. We stayed in a family suite. The room was clean and well equipped for our needs. yes it was during the Covid pandemic. It isn''t important to me that the room be cleaned/beds maid everyday so it wasn't an issue for us. because Covid has changed how so many things are done, it's hard to say if it is normal to have your breakfast in your room at this B&B. We made it work by using what was in the room. it would have been handy to have a table that both could have sat at to eat. but i'm not sure where it could have been placed. Breakfast was delicious. (Thank you). The room was not small by any means, but with 2 queen beds, sofa bed, small fridge, desk, TV on a dresser, and 3 nightstands. i just don't think there was room. I had stayed in Rapid City at the end of September, i wish i had known about this place. it is on the outskirts of town, but close to everything. We did have an issue with the Satellite, but it was taken care of as soon as we mentioned it.

I stayed here memorial day weekend of 2018 with my boyfriend. All of our other stays were booked on the road, except Sweetgrass Inn. I knew we would have great trouble finding a place last minute since it was a holiday weekend. I looked at hotels in the area many times before setting out on our road trip. I was disappointed, but not surprised, by the lack of availability left and the sky high rate basic hotels like the Baymont wanted to charge. Im talking $600-700 for two nights! No way we could afford that. I really didn't know what to do until a coworker suggested I look for B&Bs instead. That's when I found the Sweetgrass Inn. I was skeptical at first. We were used to staying in the typical hotel chains like the one I mentioned earlier, so smaller locally owned B&Bs weren't something we were used to. I looked at all the pictures and read all the reviews and decided it seemed to be a nice, clean and safe place to stay especially for the low price of $400 or $500 for two nights. It was very easy to find and the location was in nice proximity to things like Mount Rushmore, the Reptile Gardens, Putz and Glow mini golf, etc. The one and only complaint I have is about check in. We weren't entirely sure what building we should go in to be checked in. There's three or so different buildings that all appear to be a part of the B&B property. We decided to go into Shipwreck Lee's. A restaurant that's owned by the same people who own the B&B . That was where checked in happened to be and the woman checking us in was very nice and helpful. Once we got to our room we were very pleased with the comfy and cozy look of everything. The room was clean, quiet, safe and like a home away from home. It was nice they had that restaurant right up the hill. By the time we got settled in on our first night there we didn't feel like getting back in the car to find some mediocre fast food. Dinner at Shipwreck Lee's was amazing. The food was great and so was the service. They even offered a discount to customes eating at the restaurant that were also staying at the B&B. Our overall experience was phenomenal. I would have given 5 stars, but the confusion about where to check in at wasn't exactly pleasant.

The rooms are all great, the food is wonderful, and the scenery is beautiful. Monte and Amy are such kind and gracious hosts and their entire staff is friendly and fun! They take great care of us, and they're very genuine. ❤
