If you like a lot of walking to all amenities then this is the campground for you, not to mention the washrooms are not convenient for camping sites so hopefully you don't find you need to use one in the middle of the night. They do have a lot of amenities....a lot (it's like s small town). What you don't... More

We stayed at Palmer Gulch for what ended up being three nights. We initially made a reservation for one night, intending to travel on to Yellowstone but ran out of time. When we got to Palmer Gulch, the site that we were given (I believe it was 507) was totally unacceptable. I'd asked for a pull through for our mini-travel... More

Great place for your family! Wow. Where to begin? How about a list: Water slide, basketball, playground, 2 pools, hottub, horses, coffee house, wine shop, bar/grill, car rental, bike rental, all ON SITE! The staff is awesome. they have daily activities for the kids to participate in, most at no additional cost. (example: my daughter had to pay $2 for... More

We stayed at this KOA with 3 kids, ages 12, 13 and 14. We had a two room camping cabin. CONS:The double bed mattress is so hard we put a sleeping bag over it and it still felt like we were sleeping on the wood board underneath, otherwise the cabins are nice to have. The resort does pack people in... More

I thought this koa had a lot to offer for kids. I stayed inone of the little cabins. They were ok but the mattress on the double bad was really hard,I had to take the two mattresses off of the bunk beds and put them under the double one. Once I did that it was great. I can't wait to... More

This was close to Mount Rushmore which is why we chose to stay here. It was a fairly expensive stay ($92USD per night) but there was so much stuff for the kids to do that they wanted to stay another night - splash pad, pool, minigolf, bouncy pillow, rental bikes, etc. The sites were full hook up but very close... This is the largest KOA in the United States - which may be a little daunting to people - but it has a lot going for it. It is located right along the road to Mount Rushmore which is great. We just stayed for one night on our way to other locations. The Rushmore park is easily a one day... More

So many activities for kids and adults. 2 swimming pools plus a long water slide in another part of campground. Tye dying T-shirts fun! A stage with various groups entertaining. Horseback riding.... If I could rate it separately as a resort and campground I would. 1st as a resort it is very impressive. A family with younger kiddos will find something to do everyday . At the main entrance day is a very nice front office/ store, mini strip mall like area with a tiny Wine/coffee shop, fudge shop, laundry services, pizza/Ice... More

We paid the premium Sturgis rally rate of $89 per night for a pull-thru site at this KOA and felt ripped off. We were extremely disappointed with the very tight site spacing and significant slope of the site which required a lot of maneuvering since we don't have leveling jacks on our RV. Most annoying was the non-existent wifi which... More
