Enjoyed our stay, cabin 9 is rustic , very quiet, could here the stream at night. If I had one item that wasn't the greatest , it was the futon. We would have liked to see a small couch or a couple recliners. Futon was a little hard on the rear. But like I said we would stay again. Thanks a... More

Our cabin had 2 bed rooms, kitchen, bathroom, and living room type room with a futon. It was the perfect size for us. It was very clean. The beds had clean linens and we're comfortable. The fridge was the perfect size for our food as we stayed 4 nights. The view was wonderful. The price per night was very reasonable.... More

My wife and I, along with you two children traveled to Custer for a summer vacation. My wife booked a cabin for a night with Harney's by telephone and gave our credit card number to reserve our stay. We got to Harney's at 3 pm an saw a note on the door saying they would be back at 5 pm.... More

These are tired and tiny old cabins but in a charming setting made peaceful by the babbling brook running through the camp. The owners were welcoming and dog-friendly but their attention to detail was lacking. These sad cabins need TLC - ASAP! A few tasteful upgrades would make them so much more inviting: new curtains, fresh carpet, and replace the... More

I am sorry your cabin wasn't finished when you got there. We have been working very hard this summer getting new carpet and curtains in all the cabins that needed it. We also refreshed the paint and fixed any little things as we went. We did get a late start due to the carpet going on back order but we... More

We stayed here 5 nights. We loved it here & will stay here again. Very friendly people. Just what we were looking for. We brought our dog with us & so glad we did. They DO NOT charge extra for our pet. Wonderful location to all of the sites.

Nothing really wrong with the place just small cramped quarters. Bathroom small and not very clean. Only stayed one night but wouldn't have looked forward to another. The surroundings and creek are beautiful. I would look elsewhere for lodging if I were in the area again.

If I could give a rating of 3 1/2 stars instead of 3 I would. My family and I loved the location. It was convenient place to hit all of the hot spots around Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills. We also loved the firepits that were only 4 feet away from Sunday Gulch creek. We grilled out dinner almost... More

The good part was the quiet area and hot tub. There was a picnic area with wood and fire pit by the stream. The owner or staff person was very friendly and would try to get anything you needed. Now the bad. The was cabin we were in was over $130.00 and way overpriced for a rundown cabin with rotting... More

First of all, the price for that cabin is $115 per night. As for the floors, they are not rotting. Because the cabin is on supports instead of on solid ground, it could give some people the impression that it is not stable but it has been checked and it is sound. Also since this guest was here we have... More

This is a tough review. Our family spent 4 nights here in June 2015 to visit the Black Hills. The location is wonderful. Just few miles off the beaten path. No noise or traffic. Just a peaceful location with a nice creek running through. We were very comfortable at the location. We had a fire pit and picnic table 3-4... More

Thank you for all of the positive comments. As for the carpet, it is old and we are working our way through the cabins getting them replaced. I disagree, however with the unclean part. The carpets had just been shampooed and are vacuumed well between each guest. We try very hard to keep every thing clean. Thank you for saying... More

These cabins are definitely "rustic". I'm not sure when they were built but it's definitely older construction. As a previous reviewer had mentioned, there is some settiling of the foundation and the roofs and doorways are lower than today's standards indicating an older building. All that being said, I liked the idea of the experience so none of the above... More
