Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had our wedding at Mystic Hills. Shawn and Julie were so accommodating and helpful. We can't thank them enough! Our entire family loved them so much. They allowed our decorator free rein to transform the lodge from rustic to elegant- it was an unbelievable transformation and you have see the photos! They worked with the caterer also and provided us bartending services. We had approximately 80 people and there was plenty of space for a sit down meal and music/dancing. We rented the cabins for out of town guests and they were spotless, well equipped and comfortable. If you want to have a gorgeous Black Hills wedding- this is the place to do it if you love rustic elegance like I do. They have an outdoor gazebo and there are beautiful landscapes for photography, PS- we have a camper that has been at Mystic Hills for a few years. Shawn and Julie are the new owners as of 2023 and have resurrected the restaurant and the campground is very clean and pleasant!

This campground is a hidden gem and can’t wait to go back next year! Was quiet, no bugs anywhere and the staff were helpful. Cows walking thru the campground we’re an added high lite of the trip also.

Great place to stay as you can ride to the UTV trails right from the campground. Close to Custer Peak. A must see. Very clean shower house with plenty of hot water. A good place to eat is at the restaurant right on the grounds.

We rented UTVs from them on our vacation. When we got there, we talked to a gal who was very unfriendly and you could tell she did not want to be there. The actual functionality of the machines were spot on and we had a great time. The night before it had rained 3 inches so there were lots of mud and puddles. We did get dirty so we decided to wash them to help out the employees. Once we got back at the end of the day the gal from that morning inspected them for damaged. She was extremely rude and pushy and ending up charging us another $50 because two out of 3 of the machines we rented had 3-5 rows of the radiator plugged. It literally took them 1-2 minutes as we stood and talked to her while another guy hosed the radiators out. She also said she was tracking us on the map as to where we were all day. It felt like an invasion of privacy. Overall not impressed with the employees here. Will not be renting again.

Had a wonderful time at Mystic Hills. Our second year going and the scenery is wonderful. Easy access to trails and ATV friendly environment. The bathroom/showers were always well-cared for. The pizza was great, although it takes a while to get. Be aware, depending on your cell service plan, you may not be able to connect. Wifi is available at the office. All we needed for a great week.

We stopped at Mystic Hills while riding UTVs to grab a quick breakfast. When we arrived there was 2 other tables. We waited over an hour and a half for our food (after being told our food would be out in 15 minutes) - ended up paying for our food as we had to have our UTVs back in Lead by 12:00pm. We ended up leaving without our food as we had to get back to return the machines. They fed the servers/workers before the guests and ended up “remaking” their food before even starting on ours. The cook also reached in the garbage with GLOVED hands to pull out a receipt and then continued making food with the same gloved hands. Will NOT be returning to this establishment as it was a major waste of our time.

We camped here in our 5th wheel to use as a home base to see the sights of the area including Deadwood. We did some offroading in the CanAm straight from the site. Great location, quit, and the staff was so nice. I would definitely come back again.

The owners are amazing. Super friendly. Ordered pizza two nights in row (you’ll remember us lol). Stayed in lodge room 1 which was perfect for our group. Trails right out the back door. Room was clean and comfortable. We found a new destination for our atv/utv trips
