Beautifully remodeled old bank. We stayed in the Laura's Loft room, and it was just perfect. Extremely clean room and very spacious, with a lovely sitting room and two nice-sized bedrooms. The loft was small but very comfortable and cozy, and contained a twin size bed with a table and lamp for one extra person. Kim, the owner, greeted us...

Nicely remodeled old bank. The owners are very very nice and like to visit. The breakfast was nicely done. I would have given a 5 if the bed weren't so hard. The matress feels like sleeping on the floor, the shower is very small also. The room is spacious and nicely laid out though. Quiet which is very important too....

We visited De Smet on our way to Mt. Rushmore because having read most of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books to the kids, seemed like a great road-trip stop. Heritage House Bed & Breakfast is a great family place to stay. We were in Laura's Loft. The room was very clean and decorated themed as a period look from the late...

We stayed overnight at this b&b while traveling cross country. We got a decent room and breakfast but pretty sad service. The innkeeper barely welcomed us and had no information about anything "little house" related. Even the gas station at the corner had maps of relevant touristy buildings. It was not worth the price of room (Laura's loft $175) for...

We stayed at the Heritage House in the Jacob Suite for two nights recently and really enjoyed our stay. The property has been beautifully restored; the decor is time appropriate but also comfortable. We had a two room suite - one bedroom with a queen bed and one room with a pull out sofabed. Both were very comfortable and the...

We were in the Laura's Loft...two bedrooms with living room and loft with twin. Great location, easy parking, good breakfast (pancakes one day and french toast the next), and attentive owner. It was something to look out the side window and know that you are looking at the spot (but not the building) where the Ingalls endured the Long Winter....

My daughter found thus B&B online and booked it for the last stop of our road trip on the "Laura Ingalls Wilder Trail". The proprietor, who has deep roots in the De Smet community, has restored one of the oldest buildings in town with great care and excellent taste. Period antiques and accessories spark the imagination, while modern comforts and...

We are from South Dakota and purchased a night's stay at the Heritage House at a benefit auction. We absolutely had a wonderful time there! The hosts were VERY accommodating and treated us special! The room was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious! They did everything to make us comfortable! Would love to stay again even though it was only...

The owners have turned an old bank into a wonderful inn. The main floor houses a large parlor, where you can glimpse the original bank vault, turned into a minuscule office. All of the guest rooms are on the second floor. There is no elevator, so you must hoist your bags up the ornate (albeit narrow, winding) staircase. We stayed...

We stayed in the Laura's Loft room while visiting...what else...the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites in town. Fabulous room with four rooms - two bedrooms, loft bedroom, sitting room, as well as a modern bathroom. For the price, the room was amazing. In any other town, this room would go for a lot more. The decorations are beautiful. The breakfast was...
