I attended this restaurant / pension as a friend of mine was holding their birthday party there. As it was a very cold and icy night, we decided to stay so we did not have to drive back to Budapest ( and I wanted to have a few glasses of wine!!!) I booked a double room for my wife and I and I must say the standard was very good for what is in essence a pretty isolated country pension. The room was a good size, there was a flat screen TV, free WIFI and a decent sized bathroom. Breakfast was included and the owner Tibor made us feel very welcome. The food at the party the night before was also excellent, real Hungarian fayre. I mention this as the place primarily functions as a restaurant and I was told is a popular location for weddings in the summer. As Isaszeg is only a 15 minute drive from Gödöllő, this would be a gideal place to stay if you could not find acceptable accommodation in the town.…
The day before we were due to arrive we were sent an email saying that they had a wedding party booked and it would be noisey - we would like to cancel? With no time to book anywhere else and everywhere local booked for the European Lacrosse Championships, we had no choice but to go there. It was appalling - on arrival told there would be no restaurant due to the wedding, the room was like a sauna, thinnest towels known to man, and a 7ml sachet each for shower/shampoo. The very loud live band kept us up to 3.30am, the dogs and cockerels started shortly after, then the loud radio all before 7am. Then when we thought we might get some sleep at 9am after breakfast...but no...then the loud hammering started. Just appalling, we could not believe how bad this was. And to top it all, the wifi did not work despite questioning the landlord about the password! DO NOT STAY HERE.…
We made a booking in this place for 5 days some 5-6 months prior to our actual stay. With just a few weeks to until our stay, we were told our booking was cancelled due to flooding. However, the hotel continued taking other bookings. Booking.com were superb, and found us another location - and even covered the additional costs. It would seem if someone books for a longer stay, you get the boot. so, stay away.
We showed up at a hotel we had read had great ratings. We found the hotel without a problem. We told the the hotel through booking.com that we would arrive late. We arrived a bit earlier than expected and were told dinner would start at 8pm and the bar would open at 10pm. We found this a bit strange, but went to our room to turn on our computers to find the tragedy of the Malaysian Airline. Being in this area and our families not knowing were we were going. It took time to email and call family and friends in Europe and the states that we were not going to the Ukriane. We came down to dinner at 8:19pm to be told the restaurant was closed. Even though the manager helped me with my bags (I recently had both knees replace) and was using crutches he was extremely rude. We were not allowed a drink and if we wanted dinner to sit and we had a choice of chicken or beef. I asked for beef with pepper sauce. I got beef with mushrooms. I asked for pepper sauce to put over the mushrooms and was given a pepper shaker. Drinks stopped despite not being close to ten, but there were no other guests. We came here on a high recommendation from booking and hotel, com. We wanted to stay out of the city because we were heading north to Krakow. Our suggestion is despite the high compliments on both web sites is to stay away from this place and find another place. We left after dinner because of the rudeness of the manager and found another hotel.…
