We have stayed at Ocean Watch 16 weeks since early 2015. If I picked Starfish I would want 14th floor and above and center to south of center for max sunrises. The only thing better than that for sunrise would be ocean front in Scallop or Conch, center unit 6th floor and above. We have only stayed in Scallop and Starfish. In Conch north side would be looking at pool and ocean (possible sunrise), the higher the better. South side more sun on balcony and good ocean view but no chance of sunrise. Scallop north side is almost no sun on balcony and looking away from property, south side is max sunshine on balcony and also good view of pool, while it has view of ocean it has zero chance of seeing sunrise. Again the higher the better. There are nine units max on each floor of Conch and Scallop. Room nine is center ocean front, we have had this over 10 weeks and cannot see any room being better, unless you want a little more time of sun on balcony, then 8 should be your choice for Scallop and 7 (probably) for Conch. I'm not sure they are numbered exactly the same.
The only real advantage of being closer to the water is the sound of the ocean, which to us is comforting, and has it a preference for us. We are lucky, since we are Platinum Elite with Marriott and it has led to our getting treated wonderfully every week we have been there.
Room number will give all the information you need. I believe Conch is #1, Scallop #2, Starfish #3 and #4 and #5 are the back two buildings. The number will end with Floor and Unit, so 2069 Is Scallop, 6th floor, center ocean front. Scallop (in my opinion) offers best access to parking deck. I cannot remember the layout of the Starfish units, in fact I don't even remember if there are units which do not face the ocean. We stayed there in 2015 and only on our first trip.
I have got to believe if you have a choice of multiple units the price will reflect the difference between Bldg 4&5, garden view, and Bldg 1&2 ocean view, or ocean front.
I'd say enjoy. but since you have been there before you know all about the wonderful staff and treatment you'll get. PS I'm jealous, I was there two weeks in Dec, two in Jan and two in Feb.
Enjoy Marriott Ocean Watch, there is not a better timeshare (Marriott) in the the continental USA, You would have to go to Hawaii and you still may prefer Ocean Watch.
Note: sunrise may vary from our Dec, Jan, Feb and Mar days, as I'm not sure how it moves month to month. This could affect my sunrise projections - but not for Starfish and Front buildings ocean front.
I just travelled in March and did not know any construction was happening other than the tree house was closed from 3 to 4 days for repairs. Very quiet and enjoyable so make the exchange you will be well pleased!
