NotSo Hostel is a really nice place, clean, friendly and good value. The rooms are quite plain but have nice touches, e.g each bed has a wee table with lamp and there was a nice table and chairs outside our room along with a swinging two seater. It's a great place for peace and quite and is near enough to...

As this is the only hostel in Charleston travelers don't have alot of choice but this hostel is actually pretty good value for money. Staff are nice, it was clean, free breaky, great location and wi-fi was also good. The only downside I would say is lack of showers/toilets but I never had to wait. It didn't have the office/tv...

LOVED the NotSo Hostel. Very friendly staff, comfortable (although small) dorm rooms, cheap prices. The main building's location is pretty good, but the Annex is even more centrally located. Breakfast was minimal but fine. I would definitely go back here if I ever go to Charleston. Bathrooms/kitchens are nice too and not shared between too many people.

I have been going to "NotSo" for past four years for my mini-vacation-get-a-ways. Always a delight meeting folks from round the world and making new friends. Great location to historic downtown and beaches via foot, bike, bus, taxi or your own auto. Dorm style or private rooms, shared baths and kitchens (I cook a lot), parking, porches, bikes, and included...

If you're planning on staying in Charleston for several days and you don't want to spend all your money on a hotel, I would definitely recommend staying here. The staff were so nice to me, they gave me a tour when I arrived and made me feel very welcome. I was in a dorm style room, but it had it's...

If you understand the hostel experience, you will certainly appreciate this one which, in addition to private rooms, also includes a studio with a kitchen and private bathroom and deck outside the glass patio door. And if you appreciate old historic buildings you will really enjoy the neighborhood and character of this charming old house with its front porch swing....

Never stayed at a hostel but was very impressed. Staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was very laid back and inviting. Learning about other visitors' travels around the breakfast table was a great experience and it was fun to share our trip plans as well. My only suggestion is to offer a mattress pad; sheets by themselves reminded me of...

I had high hopes for notsohostel, which is somewhat unlike me, so maybe that's where I went wrong. My main gripe was the fact the hostel is a good 40min walk from the main sights of the oldtown. Granted there are public and free buses into town so this wasn't a huge issue. Secondly, the hostel is laid out with...

The hostel itself is nice enough, but it was a lot further out from the main town areas than I had thought it would be based on the information on the website - a consideration when visiting in the summer as the weather is so hot and humid. The free parking and breakfast were really appreciated, though the main kitchen...

Charleston is not an easy place to visit cheaply. Visitors usually choose to splurge on a downtown hotel or stay outside the city and save some bucks, but be continually frustrated by traffic. Charleston's Not So Hostel is a great way to save some money on lodging and be able to access the best of downtown's nightlife, eateries, and historic...
