Great location and walking distance to everything in historical district. Was able to park car in off-street reserved spot and did not move it for entire stay. Inn very lovely and room was clean and comfortable. Reception was pleasant and they made a special plate for us having arrived after afternoon tea had been served. Would recommend to anyone looking...

My daughter's wedding party just spent 4 to 7 days, depending on when one arrived, at the Governor's House Inn, and it was perfect in every way. The weekend of the wedding itself, we had the entire house, which added extra warmth and closeness, like being all together at someone's lovely home. It is a beautiful, rather secluded, property in...

The room and Inn were beautiful, the veranda lovely for afternoon tea. It is centrally located in Charleston. The Inn has 11 rooms. We were on the second floor which does mean that the stairs could be an issue for the less mobile. My only criticism in contrast to other B&Bs listed in Select Registry is that it feels more...

Our room was beautiful and very comfortable - loved the 2nd floor veranda and our own "private" entrance via the black spiral stair overlooking the garden. Dinner was a close walk away - to any number of excellent restaurants. It is a very convenient location. The staff is awesome! Afternoon tea with homemade goodies was a dellight on the veranda....

We stayed three nights at The Governor's Inn. It is an historic mansion, well preserved and beautifully decorated. It was quiet and centrally located. We walked to all the sights we wanted to see. In the evening, wine, coffee and tea were set out with some sweet and savory finger foods. The porch had seating for breakfast as well as...

We spent 3 nights here in the Christopher Suite and it was delightful. The afternoon tea was well presented and the breakfasts are varied and ample. Excellently trained staff and very cheerful and helpful on all levels. Highly recommend.

I was raised in Charleston only blocks from the Governor's House Inn (GHI) and always stay there since it reminds me so much of home. The rooms are old-time elegant with modern utilities, but these are only part of the charm. The southern hospitality of the staff makes one feel like family rather than guests. Charleston is a walk in...

Need to respond to the recent review which criticized the food. My wife and I were there in late July for 3 days. Breakfast was excellent every orning. Eggs Florentine, Frittata, Pancakes with peaches.Service was very pleasant and friendly. The house itself is beautiful, the room was fine. The parking was a big plus. I would stay here again. No...

We tested the legendary Southern hospitality of the Governors' House Inn from the moment we arrived, or rather didn't. The plan was to fly into New York JFK, out of La Guardia to Charleston and check in around 21.00. But the US government had just put air traffic controllers on short time and their retaliation delayed our plane to Charleston...

Beautiful, grand...Southern hospitality at it's best. Historical gem that is within easy walking distance of anything you might want to see in the downtown area of the Holy City. First and foremost, you are going to wish that the inn's staff is short a member during your stay so the innkeeper's son, Robert, is called in to sub. This young...
