Travellers' Choice
A romantic hideaway in America’s most enchanting city, The Fulton Lane Inn is private, intimate and exceptionally accommodating. The Fulton Lane Inn surrounds you with the comfort and gracious ambiance of a bygone era. Many of our spacious rooms feature oversized whirlpool baths and luxurious canopied beds, draped with hand strung netting. Other rooms boast cathedral ceilings and several offer fireplaces.Throughout, soaring windows frame captivating vistas of the city's historic skyline, punctuated with the many trademark church spires. The charm and spirit of the Old South live on in this historic inn, built by the family of Confederate blockade runner John Rugheimer. Regarded as the most sophisticated city in America, antebellum Charleston was the cradle of Southern gentility. The proper Charleston home then welcomed summer's casual pace by covering formal furnishings in airy muslin, replacing wool carpets with sisal, and positioning shutters to admit fresh breezes and to provide gentle shade. At the Fulton Lane Inn, that spirit has been beautifully recaptured. Here, light filters softly through louvered shades, casting an inviting glow on lush plants. The patina of fine woods, natural textures and soft pastels invite you to indulge in the simple pleasures of a more gracious time. During your stay, you'll be pampered with complimentary continental breakfast delivered to your room each morning. Our traditional Southern hospitality continues with sherry in the lobby each evening. Of course, our concierge is always at hand to attend to your every need. You're just a mere stroll from the famous harbor, historic homes and attractions. The Fulton Lane Inn is situated just off King Street, tucked away on a pedestrian lane in the heart of the city's famous historic district. The inn is literally surrounded by countless fascinating boutiques, scores of antique shops and elegant restaurants. There are countless ways to enjoy the Fulton Lane Inn.

Lovely rooms, excellent touches like water and wine with breakfast delivered to your room at your convenience! Rooms were clean , spacious for a city hotel, and comfortable. Will come back. Location couldn't be better for walking around downtown Charleston.

The hotel was very nice. Enjoyed the continental breakfast delivered to your room every morning. The night before you fill out what you want on a cart and hang it on door outside doorknob ( picked up by 11:00 pm). Very adequate in selection. We were in Room 339 and it was extremely quiet at night. There was a king size bed. Refrigerator was decent size. I only missed the ice machine in the hotel. You had to go to the backside of a sister hotel next door to get ice. Plenty of hot water and the shower was fantastic. Location was perfect for sightseeing and walking to many fabulous restaurants. However, please call before you leave to make reservations. We couldn't go to many of the them because it was the week before New Years and they were booked. Due to Covid, we either ate outside or in our room....not a perfect scenario, but it was necessary. We only moved the car once while we were there. Parking is located in the back of the hotel. Be careful, though, some of the spots were extremely tight ( Ford Explorer only fit in a few of them). From the other reviews this hotel was rated extremely well, and once I stayed there I knew why. Not the cheapest hotel, but it was worth the location and comfort. Conceirge was very informative on restaurants. One restaurant had a famous coconut cake which was fantastic ( I I think it was the Penisula Grill...expensive and could be shared with two or more, but worth it.-) We had a great, resonably priced steak dinner at TBonz Gill & Grill. Plan on spending a few extra bucks for food. Most restaurants, even "fast food" type places seemed more expensive than normal resort towns. Aw Shucks near the hotel was excellent, but you paid $16 for three tiny pieces of grouper. It was tasty, though.

We enjoyed our stay at the Fulton. We had a king bedded room overlooking King St - I was concerned that it might be noisy but it was not. The room was nice with all the amenities - robes, nice soaps, shampoo, etc. We had breakfast delivered each day - bagels, pastries, fruit etc. the wine and cheese reception each evening was very nice, The location is perfect and we were able to walk to restaurants, shopping, art galleries, Gibbs museum and the City Market area. We are two couples in our 70’s and 80’s. ,

This inn's location is perfect for us to walk to our favorite restaurants and King Street shops. Our room was clean and comfortable with nice bedding, a good shower and everything in working order. The room smelled nice with a very light classy scent. The toiletries were Gilchrist & Soames and they smelled great. Breakfast was brought to the room, freshly prepared and nicely presented. Parking is at the Inn. I really appreciated the free bottled water for guests from an ice-filled cooler in the lobby.
