Not for the adventurous type. Nice rooms, quite and clean with a nice breakfast. Aimed for the couples in the age range of 50 and older. Great walk to town and water plus a purk to the markets and rain bow row. If uou are under the age of 50 i would not pick this but would rather a hotel.

First of all, I was shocked at the reviews below, but I have an inkling that they are all part of the same disgruntled family. Our experience (and that of many couples and families before us) was stellar! We travel often, and as my husband is British, we have stayed in B&B's all over Europe. This inn was fabulous for...

Room was very small and lighting was terrible. We have stayed at many B&B's and this was, quite frankly, the worst one. Parking in the back parking lot is not easy, so dont attempt it with a large vehicle. Staff members , with the exception of Kelsey, were dour and quite unfriendly. No greetings unless we instigated them, and even...

My daughter and I really enjoyed the location of this B&B. That was the best part. As with others, we arrived 2 hours early and were told we had to wait to check in until 3pm. The room was only ok. The beds were fine but the lighting was very poor especially in the bathroom. The breakfast was about the...

My wife and I stayed at Barksdale Inn during October and without a doubt had the WORST experience we have EVER had at any B&B we have stayed in. We have been staying in B&B's for the last 15 years so this place has really gone out of it's way to make the WORST list. Things started out on the...

One of my general rules about hotels is: beware of anyplace that makes you pay for your entire stay at check-in, before you've seen the room. So I approached the Barksdale House with trepidation, but on balance this place was not bad at all. (I had Room #7.) Here's what you get at the Barksdale House: an absolutely stellar location,...

Our experience was not a good one. We arrived a little early, which is a no no there. Even though our room was ready we were not allowed to check in. I asked if we could at least let our cat stay in the room. Receptionist very rudely replied that she would allow us to park in the lot and...

The first item that attracted my attention was the free parking....in Charleston!!!! However the Barksdale House Inn has much, much more than just parking. It is located near all the prime spots in Charleston, it is very old (like Charleston) and it is in very good shape (just like Charleston!). We stayed in Room #3, which is a corner room...

This was my 3rd time staying at the Barksdale House Inn. Each room I've stayed in has been clean, comfortable and cozy. Location is great with shops, yoga studio and restaurants all just a short walk away. Looking forward to staying there again next year.

Enjoyed the stay, staff was friendly and helpful, location was excellent to enable us to walk for dining and attractions. We've taken day trips to Charleston before but this changed what we could do in a more relaxed way. Rooms are large and neat.
