Detailed Reviews
This was advertised as Hilltops Retreat out of town with a restaurant on site and the reason we booked this property. I understand things have changed due to Covid but on the booking website and the signage at the front of the property the restaurant is still being mentioned. We have recently stayed in other motels and a breakfast box is being offered or the usual breakfast tray but here there was nothing. For dinner we were able to ring a local restaurant and they delivered but when I enquired about a microwave to heat the food (was mentioned microwave available on request) I was directed to a microwave in the laundry on top,of the dryer next door to our room. We have travelled extensively and crossing the Nullabor was an experience where one does not expect a lot but here at around $146 a night this was not value for money. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom okay. The air conditioner heated the room but was noisy. The day we left was cold and the shower was lukewarm. I wanted to wash my hair but decided against it due to not being able to get hot water. The office was closed when we arrived and I rang the number on the door and was told the key was under the mat. I found later the room had been charged to my Amex with a 3% surcharge. If I had had the opportunity to discuss this on checkin I would have opted to use another card. I have since been told that Amex charges are no higher than other cards and the surcharge is not necessary. I was on holiday but the cleanliness or lack thereof made me want to grab a vacuum cleaner and run it over the room. There were dead insects along skirting boards, cobwebs along the cornices and ants in the bathroom. The positive reviews on the booking website must be about another property!! At 10am in the morning the manager knocked on the door gave us fresh towels and emptied the bins. That was the extent of the room service we had. This property is very tired and there must be better options in Young. It is a shame that this property is being run down as it is in a nice position out of town. The positive reviews I read before staying in this motel are way out of date.

Fantastic location for a football game.
Horrible room on side of highway and AC was less than adequate.
Stadium within walking distance was the saving grace for this hotel
Would stay again but would ask for room on another side of hotel and for an AC that worked.
Staff at check in were less than thrilled to answer questions

This hotel is on the outskirts of young and has a lovely outlook to the back of the hotel overlooking paddocks with horses and llamas.
The room was reasonable, quite spacious with the usual amentities. The bed was not super comfy, but for a couple of nights was absolutely sufficient.
Parking was at the front of the room, but was pretty tight and lots of the packing spots were literally half covered by bushes.
If you don’t like spiders, probably give this place a miss... every awning, pole, window frame was fully covered in spider webs - it was not a good look. Inside there were a couple of small spiders, but nothing too concerning.
The host who checked me in was friendly and gave me info on some lovely restaurants in town who provided charge back to the hotel, which was convenient if needed.

As there was a stadium near by, all people who visited that stadium were allowed to park inside the hotel which caused a huge traffic to even enter the hotel. It took us almost 1 hour to enter into the hotel. Once we are in, parking was half a mile from the lobby as they allowed stadium visitors to park inside the hotel for an extra fee. We had to come down at 11 in the night to park the car close to the lobby once everyone goes home after completion of stadium events.
Out of three, two elevators were out of service on the weekend where there was so many people in the hotel. We had to wait for 10 minutes for one elevator to take us up. No clear direction to use stairs.
There was so much confusion to use the key to enter the room. So many people came to the front desk asking how to use the key. Once we enter the room, it smelled very bad. Even though we complained to the front desk, nobody came to check in. There was no bath supplies for the third adult booked in the reservation. Front desk told they will send someone in to give extra bath supplies but nobody came. Air conditioning did not work properly. Even though we adjusted to a higher temperature, room was very cold which did not allow us to sleep properly. We booked a double bed room but the room and the bath was very small. There was no microwave and fridge in the room. All channels in the TV was not clear enough.

1. As we arrived at after dinner, we went to check in and get our parking sticker, to be told you have to drive around the parking lot in the back forty of the hotel and search for a parking spot. Have you ever read the books "where's waldo"? These books can be challenging and VERY hard to find ole waldo. This is what it was like trying to find a parking spot. Might have been easier to find Waldo ,aka a parking spot, if the property was not selling 50.00 parking spots for the rodeo and not leaving any for people who had book rooms to stay at the hotel. Long story had to jump a curb like a wild gazelle running from a lion in a brand new car.
2. Once we got parked to go into building 4, reminded me of a freshman dorm at a jr. college. Walk up to enter the building and key will not work to get in. At this point what do we do. Refer to #1, we cant get it car and drive up to the front, we would loose our grassy knoll parking and didn't want to have repair the vehicle from driving over the curb any more then we already had to. So another guest that was in the same predicament, they were playing where waldo as well, told us that we could enter in through their dorm and walk down to the stairs.
3. Once we had made it to our stairs, we noticed we were on the third floor and had to hike up stairs with bags, to have to turn around and do it all over three times. I am fairly Large man, so by the time we got to our dorm room, it was hotter then a goat ass in a pepper patch. I mean hot. I am sweating just replaying the events over in my head. The ac would not cool the room at all. It felt like we were sleeping in the desert.
4. Door would not lock, they sent a maintenance man that appeared to have been dressed to go to a nice dinner and had one tool. a screwdriver. He got the job done finally for the 1st. night, 2nd night same issue.
5. On day 2 it was still very steamy in the room, I think I used every towel to wipe the sweat from face.
6. The one good thing that happened is that I got to leave Sunday, never have to come back to the real life "Where's Waldo" game, sauna room, no key working, jr college dorm room.

The hotel needs to be remodeled and sanitized. The elevators are terrible the fire department was called 2 days in a row due to hotel guest being trapped inside. The rooms need a deep cleaning and updated amenities. The one bedroom had 3 points of entrance due to adjourned doors (seems suspect and unsafe) the stairwell is exiting only. I will never stay here again. The staff was friendly but the hotel is more Motel 6 or Day's Inn early 2000 type of vibe. The owner needs to invest in their investment the location is is great but the hotel needs a tremendous amount of work inside and out.

Should of known what to expect when there were a bunch of envelopes taped to the door with names on them containing the room key!
Room was clean and comfortable, however for $170 I would of expected to have Foxtel as per advertised, couldn’t change the channel on the television because the remote didn’t work and no access to the internet- Wifi password also didn’t work.
Couldn’t have a shower as there was no hot water. Won’t be staying or recommending anyone stay here in future.

The room was decent, but lacked a fridge and aa microwave. Using any of the rear doors requires a separate key. No complimentary breakfast and the serious-lacking breakfast buffet costs $14.The biggest positive was that it is close to NRG Stadium. However, the hotel looks a bit rundown.

Since changing from Crowne Plaza to Wyndham they no longer have fridge and microwaves in the rooms. They also no longer offer complimentary breakfast. But the price of the rooms didn't decrease so overall value wasn't good.
