We had a beautiful suite on the ground floor, which overlooked the park and tennis court and a little of main beach where The Pacific Hotel is located. Absolutely perfect location. The accommodation is slightly older and styled in Balinese-y/Beachy style. They supplied everything we needed for a couple of days. Great hot-water and water pressure. Beautiful café right next door. Not far from the shops and beach and Pub and beautiful walks and swimming/surfing in all directions. We have already booked again for October. Kerry and Grant are wonderful and accommodating hosts, and were there if we needed them. Definitely worth the money at $290 a night off-season.
Or so the newsreaders said. This was our fourth (fifth?) long weekend at The Cove. One of the prime locations on the east coast of Australia. Close to the beach, good range of restaurants, and the Pacific Hotel. Unfortunately it rained, and rained. And rained. And while our experience was nothing at all compared to those folks who were flooded out of their homes, we did discover The Cove has no entertainment connections other than free-to-air TV. Certainly not good enough for an establishment that gives itself four-and-a half stars.
Location is great, nice gardens, friendly receptionist's - that's where it stops. Stayed 2 nights in a studio unit (22b) the carpet was filthy and stained, wardrobe and sliding doors tracks look like they have never been cleaned, something had been spillled down the front of the fridge and not cleaned, old falling apart furniture, no bath mat or hand towel. When I booked this room I enquired if it was "OK" yes I was told all rooms are 4 star, well not this room, not even a 2 star. Management should be ashamed of what they charge for this room. Spend some dollars and refurbish, if not lower your prices and inspect the cleaning. You should be encouraging repeat bookings, will never stay here again and definitely not be recommending.
We arrived and the office was unattended for lunch - doesn't matter we walked across the road to the beach and up to the Pub. AMAZING. When we returned, the lady in the office was very helpful, offered lots of suggestions for places to see, and places to eat. A great ambassador for her town. The apartment we had was good, a ground floor unit, no view, but comfortable and all we needed was there. So nice to be able to have a home -away from home - if you chose to cook on site! The outside balcony was great. Wifi was a bit iffy, but i could fault the stay. We will be back when next travelling up the coast!
This hotel was the worst !!! we booked a garden view studio room for my husband and I was given a bottom level room .. the first thing you notice is the dirty lift from the carpark when we got into the very small dark room it got no better .. It was dark with all the curtains closed so we opened up to find people could walk past and see from a few windows , balcony , side window , bathroom straight into the room ! Then we noticed how dirty the room was the carpet was disgusting! The bathroom shower was mouldy and dirty the bathroom floor was so ground in dirt was black It was supposed to have a microwave and phone we found the phone in the drawer ! Called reception and asked where was the microwave? The guy in reception said if u want one we you can ? And asked why the phone was in the draw he said “ Oh ok !!! He didn’t care !!! The place was mid not cheap for two nights for a hotel that had nothing! And was extremely dirty !!! Particularly With the virus and what’s happening we were very surprised they didn’t care and hotels are like this I will report this to booking.com when we return but if your thinking of staying ? Do yourself a favour and book elsewhere this hotel needs to be throughly cleaned and management should be on top of this !!! Stay elsewhere and give this place a big miss ..…
