In 65 years of travelling, i found the WORST VALUE HOTEL EVER! The exterior photo looked looked very promising in our Internet search and is the price ($185) was the most expensive in the area we decided to treat ourselves and book. Driving along the avenue towards the most impressive building we noticed the motel was part of a golf course complex. Fine!, being a keen golfer I have stayed at a number of golf resorts and almost universally found the standard of rooms and food to be of good value. The lobby was also impressive and reception staff welcoming, as were all the staff we encountered during our stay.A sour note is the over 1% added to the bill for use of a Visa card. Who carries cash nowadays? I would rather a dollar or two added to the upfront advertised cost. Drove to our unit and parked outside our complex of (I think) 8 units. On entering the foyer and climbing to the first floor we noted that the carpet looked as though it had not seen a cleaner for a week or two, or three or four. Our room was large and looked comfortable - no complaint. However, the courtesy tea, coffee and sugar pouches were thrown in a cheap (Coles or Woolies) resealable snack bag. Cutlery consisted of 2 small spoons. Crockery 2 cups and 2 wine glasses. There was a kettle, sink and microwave but apart from that NOTHING! The cupboards were completely bare. The refrigerator contained a (very) small bottle of milk, apart from that barren. No mini bar with a choice of drinks or snacks (which we are always happy to pay for) The bathroom certainly of good size and with a bath. The problem being the shower in the bath, This 83 year old is not happy having to climb over the edge of the bath to enjoy a shower. Oh well, we had booked and did not wish to drive so visited the restaurant (Karinyas) for dinner. The menu was extremely limited, only 4 dishes two of which were steak and the price of a larger steak $65. The other dishes were $36 to $38 each PLUS $11 for sides. We decided on chicken supreme because there is little chance of messing up that dish. We were not game to try the fish or other steak dish. Prices OK if the quality justifies the price. We were WRONG about the chicken dish. The chicken was dryer than a desert in the middle of a prolonged drought and tough enough to warrant an axe. The pumpkin puree looked as though someone had been ill on the plate. Potato and beans were edible and quite well cooked. The wine list was a work of art. 6 or 7 A5 sheets with curled edges and manifest signs of over use, or should that be misuse? Not laminated which even the corner fish and chip shop manages with their menus. Prices reasonable for a 4 star eatery, which this was not. We paid $12 for a glass of wine each which was barely drinkable. We escaped early next morning foregoing the pleasure of a breakfast, praising ourselves for not including breakfast when we booked. Advice for golfers. Hope the course justifies the room cost but go to the local pub and get a few drinks to take back to the room and order pizza or any other takeaway you might fancy.

We wanted to spoil ourselves with a decent hotel stay after the long lockdown in Sydney and invested more than $300 per night into what we thought would be a top class hotel. Unfortunately, the Mercure Kooindah Waters cannot live up to the expectations that one would have with the brand and at that price point. The property itself is rather tired and in need for some TLC. Service is poor and definitely not adequate to the Mercure brand. The block-out curtain in our room was damaged and couldn't be closed completely. Even though this was fixed in short time after we requested that at the reception, this is something that should be detected before guests notice. Stingy supply with towels, we had to actively request more. Access to pool area is only possible via RFID tokens. Unfortunately not enough tokens for all guests were available. It would have been nice at least to be made aware of this during check-in, so we stood in front of the closed gate for nothing. It took two attempts at the reception until someone from the staff walked down with us and opened the gate to the pool. Pool area had been cleared of all seating opportunities, even no place to deposit the pool towels other than throwing them onto the floor. All in all, service/customer experience level on par with a motel that usually costs roughly a third of the price of the Mercure. At a price point and with a brand like this, I want an effortless customer experience, however here we had to constantly ask for stuff, which is inconvenient. Insofar, next time we will book a motel!

The hotel is good, the pool and amenities were great but the overall service was shocking, No cleaning, no internet, no movies and no idea. I complained to staff who did not seem to care at all. I tried to call fro room service and no on could be bothered to answer the phone. I asked about movies and internet and was told the storm has caused them to be offline, Compete rubbish

I stayed in a Superior room/King bed in October 2021 and found the room, facilities and service all-around disappointing. The room was overpriced, old and tired, few power points, not even a free biscuit with the (single) sachet of Nescafé, LOL, no free movies as advertised, and every time we rang reception or room service no-one answered. I would have gotten better service and nicer room at literally half the price at a motel.
