Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dave was an excellent host, friendly and with tips about good places to eat. The room was refurbished with a good bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Don’t be disappointed by the outside appearance. Nice walk to shops and cafes. Trail bikes riders made a big mess on the verandah but Dave was there cleaning up next morning. I’d ask specifically for a refurbished room.

Looks old and shabby on the outside but the rooms are modern and comfortable. Close to town at a short walk. Could not find any info about the wifi but could have rung reception no welcome letter about these things in my room. Friendly checkin.

Booked this motel with family, as it was a nice night we were sitting outside chatting. Police got called by management and told them we were being " too loud " we had no complaints from fellow guests only arrogant staff. Not very " family friendly " at all. Do not waste your time and book here..

The photos online showed freshly refurbished, pleasant rooms. That may have once been the case but time has certainly stripped away the gloss. The room is beginning to look a little shabby with scratched paint and a heap of grubby looking marks. The chairs were really wobbly and the table leg actually had a fork wedged into it (probably in an attempt to steady it). The linen was also a disappointment. There was actually a hole in one of the pillowcases. There were only 3 thin and hard pillows. The bed was a cheap innerspring ensemble. One of the legs was bent outwards and my husband kicked it as he walked past, luckily he was wearing steel capped boots at the time. We spent a very uncomfortable night as the displaced leg caused the bed to sag at the end. Our room was also one of the smallest that I’ve ever seen. Just enough to fit the double bed. On the up side, the owner seemed nice and the shower was great.

Travelling to Darwin we decided to book The Wauchope Motel through the online reviews on the afternoon we were arriving. We arrived at Wauchope NT to be told at Devils Marble Hotel that the confusion happened a lot but the motel is actually in NSW and not NT. I proceeded to ring the motel to explain the mistake to be told by a man that it was bad luck! We had booked through Agoda and therefore deal with them, I asked if we could get a verification from him that we didn’t stay at the motel and he replied he gets charged so bad luck. Very disappointing in these times when we are travelling within Australia and bringing the tourist dollar back into Australia and get faced with this very un Australian attitude.

This is a centrally located motel within walking distance to town is neat, clean, includes all the necessities kettle, iron etc also has a great shower & very comfy bed. The owner was exceptionally helpful and friendly with restaurant & sights suggestions, recommending a fabulous vineyard, perfect for us. This small motel is very good value for money in lovely Wauchope.

Stayed for 2 nights with a few motorcyclists which allowed us to ride the big lap incorporating the Oxley and Waterfall Way. Great dining advice from David the owner, once you come to terms with Irish-Australian accents 😉.
