All these reviews are contradictory. After going through OzSnow we were personally driven from canberra to the resort in which is located right on the edge of friday flat offering the “ski in ski out” experience. The accommodation was comfortable but as the week progressed the louder the nights got. This is clearly a young adult market which ski packages and accommodation is included in your fees. The noise at 3am was so bad my mother had to go yell at the people next door. However this resort is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The room was cozy, the food was comfort food with your basics such as pasta being served, the atmosphere after a long ski day was also very appealing as laughter was shared over drinks and dinner. I would recommend this resort and these packages to young adults as it is pitched at you- with the opportunity to socialise, party and to ski all in a days work.

We stayed here as a family of 4 (2 kids under 9) in a family room with a double bed and bunks. The room was clean but pretty small for us and our bags. Biggest disappointments were, although the info indicated the room would be serviced daily, it was not for the entire 5 days of our stay. We had to empty our own bins in the laundry room and ask for extra bath mats as they got soaked every time the shower was used as the water went everywhere! It was also noted that all rooms were supposed to have WiFi but there was none detected in our room. We had to take our used tea cups and leave them in the unmanned reception and then take clean cups and plates from the breakfast area. The breakfast was included with our booking. It was ok and convenient. Positives were the location and parking was easy and it was pretty quiet as we were right at the end of the snow season. Also, we had a kids stay free deal which was welcome. We walked to some great restaurants in Thredbo Village for dinners (shout out to the T Bar and the Candlelight Lodge) and did some hikes with the kids. Recommend the chairlift to Eagles Nest and the walk to Kosciuszko Lookout. Would look to stay elsewhere next time, especially in the busy season, as I think the walls were pretty thin.

Close to Friday Flat, no snow there, but an easy walk to catch a bus to main village to ski or walk to restaurants. Rooms clean and tidy. Beds clean and comfortable. There is a drying room and laundry that is coin operated
Our stay included breakfast and 1 main meal. Food Ok and basic
Suggestions for improvement, a coat of light paint such as white in the dining area and remove all the plastic vines and ornaments. Would brighten this main area up a bit
The staff seemed friendly and helpful
The main negative, was the noisy guests in the room next door, they partied solid for 2 nights. The concierge moved us to another room after the fist night of noise. Could still hear it until 6am the following night. As there is no on site manager after hours, it is left to the guest to phone an after hours number for any issues. The noise issue seems to be a common theme in the reviews, unfortunately

Myself and my friend just stayed here and we absolutely LOVED our stay. You can’t get better than here if you want easy access to the snow. This place is ski in/ski out so you can walk out of your room, grab a yummy breakfast(great coffee) and walk straight onto the slopes across a small foot bridge- so easy!!!
The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. They made fantastic restaurant suggestions which saved a lot of time in research and also are very well informed on the slopes which means we could maximise our 3 day pass(thank you again Nick!!). The town is a 7 min walk or a free bus that go every few mins. If you would prefer to chill at the hotel they have a cosy room with a real fire where you can relax with a class of wine or a whiskey bar upstairs which we practically had to ourselves. The bar in the river inn was so reasonable, basic but tasty food. A bottle of wine was only $25bucks which I was surprised by given Thredbo is pricey in general!

I can’t recommend this place enough, it is what it says on the tin! Comfortable rooms with easy access and friendly staff- we will be back!

Me and my girlfriend stayed from Thursday to Saturday and loved it. The room was quintessential ski accommodation, and the restaurant served hearty and warming food. The best thing about it is the location, you walk across the bridge straight onto the Gunbarrel chairlift.

We were lucky as we had so much snow the few days we were there! Will be back next year for sure.

If I could leave 0 stars I would.
Stay here if you want to be kept up by drunk English backpackers screaming in the corridors all night.
Stay here if you want power tripping 18 year olds forcing you off your dinner table so they can fit more drunks in on a Saturday night.
Stay here if you want mould in your shower.
Stay here if after a long day skiing you want to be met with skepticism as to whether you’re a guest rather than a welcome back.
Stay here if you want overcooked bacon, powdery scrambled eggs and instant powdered coffee as your “breakfast” in the morning.

All for the low price of $650 per night

Just returned from a great trip to Thredbo, the river inn location is so convenient, it’s right on Friday flats so you can ski in ski out. We hired everything from the hotel which saves so much time, our room was really clean and I found the staff really welcoming and super helpful. Cannot wait to go back next year!!!

I have never seen such appalling customer service the blonde lady at reception had the manners of a pig, so rude. The food is awful and the bar closed early and the staff rudely shouted at people to get out. The worst customer service I have ever seen.

Five night stay, two people. King size bed was very comfortable. River Inn is well located and convenient to Friday Flat, the Leisure Centre and mid way between the bus stops for Route 3 and a short walk to the bus tops for the other bus routes that service the village. Ski in and ski out facility to Friday Flat.
Be prepared to haul every item of luggage from the lobby to your room, there is a dedicated lift for disabled guests. But stairs and corridors are the main access around the property. Breakfast was included in the tariff. The hot breakfast was cold, the Bain Marie unable to compete with the ambient temperature. The 9 am finish time is strictly adhered to so plan carefully or be prepared to beg for milk and tea bag if you missed the deadline. The room, according to the signage, is serviced daily. Not quite true. A special request had to be made to get the bins emptied as they were full by day 3. Clean towels were available on request. Local knowledge suggested that this property had good sized rooms at a reasonable price. Not having stayed at any other property in Thredbo I am unable to comment on that.

Here is a draft which might be more professional:

The River Inn is by far one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. There are several factors I would like to point out, which explains why my stay at the East Side in was abysmal .

The first and foremost factor is that of the rooms. The hotel advertises itself as “providing sheets and bedding”. However, the sheets and bedding provided had unknown stains (which was rather disgusting to sleep in) and was often insufficient to keep us warm in negative temperatures. Furthermore, one of the bunk beds in the room squeaked at the slightest move due to the broken foundation of the bed.

Secondly, the hallways have a strong smell of cigarettes which makes walking around the encampment quite uncomfortable. To try and conceal this smell, the hotel has added scents and perfumes to the bathroom, which makes it feel musty.

Additionally, the shower in the ‘over scented’ bathroom has sub optimal drainage at best, with water spilling out after every wash.

The final concerning aspect of the room was the towel rack. This was not attached properly to the wall, and fell off at least half a dozen times. My cabin mates ended up hanging out towels onto the frames of our unstable bunk beds.

You would expect that a hotel would provide sufficient heating and drying accessories given the fact that they are a SKIING resort. However, the heater and blow dryer was broken!

All three meals of food that the hotel provides was for the lack of a better word atrocious.

1. The breakfast buffet was the worst I have ever experienced. The eggs tasted watery and rubbery. The mushrooms were bland and lacked seasoning. The rest of the food was edible as it was prepackaged food.

2. The lunch was the best meal of the day despite its flaws.

3. Dinner was by far the worst meal of the day. One of the days they had ran out of food, as a result my friend was served a plate of mushy white rice. The dinner was bland and under or over seasoned.

The biggest thing the River Inn has going for them their perfect location relative to the ski fields. Less than 100 meters out front hotel you are on the ski lift going up the slopes. Besides from the location every aspect was egregious.
