Fully equipped kitchens will keep the chef happy - whether your culinary skills are gourmet level or you have mastered reheating in the microwave. Unique design features are found throughout the complex. For some, a window seat provides a great view of the passing village life. In others, the loft is a quiet retreat for afternoon tea, a good book or a siesta. Drinks on the balcony or a dining nook for a cosy dinner with friends – in each apartment something will add to that special holiday feel. And our central location means you can enjoy all the activities of this renowned mountain village. Outside of fabulous skiing and snowboarding in winter, time your visit for Christmas and New Year or one of the special events and festivals in summer such as the Jazz, Groove and Funk festival every March or Blues in January. Every apartment comes with views of the mountain, balconies, and each unit has a reserved car space.

Stayed three nights and found everything to be more than satisfactory. Little disappointed that second TV was recording no signal and couldn't get Foxtel to work but not there for TV really. Clean (except for toaster) and would prefer doona to antique bedspread but otherwise very enjoyable stay.

Nanook has got to be the most luxurious apartment I've ever stayed at in an Alpine resort. With amazing views, large bedrooms, well equipped bathrooms with spa and steam room and an excellent kitchen, Nanook must be one of the best apartments in Thredbo. On top of all these things it had a 51" 3D Internet TV, free wifi, washer and dryer, excellent drying cupboard, secure heated ski and boot storage facilities at village level, underfloor heating, a great fireplace, king beds, underfloor heating, a very warm fireplace with as much firewood as you needed and parking at your front door. There was literally nothing else you needed. Jackie, the owner and manager of Nanook was incredibly helpful and had great advice on things to do, restaurants to visit and tips on where to find the best snow.
Jackie has clearly addressed the complaint of a previous reviewer about the light that comes in, because the curtains and blinds are excellent now. You could turn day into night in every room if you wanted to by closing the blinds or curtains.
The location is excellent and possesses one of the best views in Thredbo to watch the Fireworks and flare run, or just watch the day go by. You're just steps to Thredbo's best restaurants, close to bars and shops, near the white shuttle bus stops and red bus to take you to Friday Flat. It's also an easy walk with skis and boots from Valley Terminal (the bottom of the kosciuszko express) back to Nanook.
I have nothing to fault, and will be back next year. Google 'Nanook Thredbo' and book through Stayz.

We were looking for some family time away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney and all its electronic attractions for our kids.
Being familiar with Thredbo in winter, I was curious as to how we would go in Summer. We booked the Squatters Run apartment knowing we would have parking on site plus the fact that it was central to the town square. ( our apartment actually overlooked the main square).
Let me say that we had a fantastic time at the Squatters Run and would recommend it and Thredbo to anyone looking for a great family break over the Christmas/ New Year holiday.
The accommodation was first class with all the mod cons and self catering facilities available. It was a great bonus to be so central that we managed to forget the car for most of the week. We spent our time absorbed in the atmosphere of the alpine village during summer. If you can manage it when the weather is accommodating, we would highly recommend the Mt Kossie summit walk. Our kids highly recommend the disc golf as well as the leisure centre.
A huge thank you to the Squatters Run as well as Thredbo for putting on such a great time over the New Years break. We will be back!!!

My family of four have stayed at Squatters Run 1 in the 2024 skiing season. The location is good and the property is in a great condition and functional. All good until you have a problem. When you have a problem you quickly discover that there is nobody onsite, not even in the town. The property is managed remotely and by the look of it those people are under-resourced. It is hard to get hold of any one over the phone, and you can tell that every time you speak to them they just want to finish the conversation quickly. As an example, when I ask if there is a hair dryer, they just respond in a few words that the property does not have one. When I said that WiFi is not working, the access point is not even showing up as a choice on the device, they have replied that they have checked the WiFi (I bet they didn't) before my arrival and it was working. They also said that there is a "storm" that's why I should not expect the internet to function properly. I have used the locker for my ski boots only to discover that the code lock combination is not working. So I cannot get my ski boots out - they are locked inside. Next day I meant to go skiing early in the morning. I called the office at about 5pm asking to do something as I heed my boots early the next day (the day tickets to the lifts alone are about $200 per person - I was going to loose) but they said that nothing they can do about it, they will send somebody next day in the morning to look at it. I know that it would be the cleaners who usually arrive at about lunch time, so it was no good for me... After spending an hour on the phone trying to convince them that "next day" is not going to be good enough I gave up trying to get any help from them and started to try to guess the code lock combination myself. After another few hours I managed to open the lock which appeared to be wrongly programmed: it had the first two digits from the apartment unlock code and the last two digits from the ski lock code. So clearly whoever programmed it (perhaps cleaners) simply made a mistake... That mistake almost cost me half of my expensive holiday (I came for three days) and management was not willing to help me. They were polite over the phone, but offered no help at all. I recommend staying away from this place given that it is priced the same as other places and those other places often have staff onsite and often they would have other facilities like restaurants. Candlelight Lodge, for example, where I stayed last year had an owner (or manager) onsite - he is a great guy, we got along well. Awesome place and they have a great german restaurant there as well. There are plenty of other places as well, just avoid anything managed by Henley Property unless you are prepared to deal with problems yourself. You will get little help if anything goes wrong or sympathy. Hope this helps, Alex

Do not book Apartment 15 it is horrible, poorly equipped, no luxuries, shocking bed and pillows no comfortable chairs or lounge to sit in, badly designed bathroom and bath, which was not clean. Overall a very expensive non luxury apt, more like a motel room!! and poorly maintained.

Response from Nigel G, Manager at Squatter's Run
Responded 16 Nov 2011
Dear Bullant3. Once again I wanted to thank you for your feedback. Although not as positive as most of our guests when they leave, we certainly appreciate the time you took in leting us know that the apartment you stayed in was not up to your expectations. This is unfortunate as when we spoke, I advised you that we have many return guests who particularly request that apartment year in, year out. Regardless, your feedback has assisted us in working with the owners of the apartment to instigate a refurbishment plan that we will put in place early in the new year to better represent the bulk of our apartments managed by our company at Squatters Run, and to better meet your expectations next time you choose to stay with us. Warm regards, Nigel G.

Brilliant accommodation-larger than I expected. Friendly service. We were able to leave our car in our parking spot after check out which was brilliant. Fantastic location!! Had a great family holiday!! We stayed in September and we're lucky enough to get snow - a huge unexpected bonus which made us appreciate the drying/storage room for skis and boots!

Unit 31 at Squatter Run was wonderful for a hassle free ski trip. We travelled as a group of four and had no complaints.
As well as having comfortable beds and breathtaking views of the mountain, the apartment had every comfort you could ask for, including a nespresso machine in the kitchen and bbq on the balcony. Oh and the free wifi was a great addition too!
It is above the village, so apres ski activities were all close by, and there is a boot room on the bottom floor of the building so that you don't have to lug your gear up any more flights of stairs than necessary. A welcome relief after a big day on the mountain!
We booked direct with the owners who were very friendly (http://www.thredbo31.com).

We got a pretty good deal for this apartment on the website and couldn't be happier for what we got. Great location, just 5 minute walk to the lifts and also to most of the restaurants and cafés. Good quality all around, warm room and quiet.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The only thing was the communication when organizing the trip wasn't all that clear and, if we hadn't inquired further, the keys of the apartment would have been waiting for us in Jindabyne instead of Thredbo.

We decided to take a last minute trip to the snow to show my son what it's like.
After arriving in thredbo with no accomadation booked we began ringing around.
We heard from another place that squatters run had a cancellation half an hour before.
Verina the manager took my call and what a delight she was.
She was so nice and helpfull and gave me a really good price.
The 2 bedroom apartment was fantastic.
I had to pick my wife up off the floor as she just couldn't believe how nice it was.
Pure 5 star all the way.
The location was right in the village square and had lovely views looking at the mountain.
Verina was always so helpfull and recommended some lovely places to eat.
All in all I could not recommend Squatters Run and in particular Verina more highly and will definitely book again.
