Tathra Beach Motor Village is located directly opposite Tathra Beach, yet offers its guests a unique, secluded, bush-land escape. The park boasts 20 acres of grounds set amongst a delightful bush-land setting backing onto a National Park Wildlife Reserve. The park also has a powered and unpowered sites available as well as range of cabins available for rent and tailored to suit any budget. The park is abundant with native animal and bird life. For this reason we are unfortunately not pet friendly.

Tathra Eco Camp
We were staying about and hour out of town, and were looking to move on. We were in the area and came here, before booking in, to have a look and decide if we wanted to stay for a day or two.
We were warmly greeted at the office, and told we were welcome to have a look around, and they gave us a map and the code for their brand new amenities. We started our walk, but didn’t get far before we came across a few more staff, that were working on new cabins. They introduced themselves and told us more about the park, what they were doing, and plans for the future.
After having a lovely walk around the park, and soaking up the relaxing ambience, we went and had a look at the amenities block. To be honest, we were beyond surprised. The ammenities are like something out of a home decorating magazine. The style and decorating have brought the bush landscape indoors, with luxurious appointments including a full sized, free standing bath, and rainwater shower heads.
The camp kitchen, the name does not do it justice, has outdoor lounge suites under the veranda, along with BBQs and a sink. Inside, at one end, there are all the things you would expect to see in a catering kitchen. Stainless steel bench tops, two sinks, a food preparation island, two door fridge/freezer, large oven, microwave, dishwasher, zip instant hot water, along with appliances, and eating utensils. The other end has a large, well appointed, dining area, along with a work station bench, under bi-fold windows that make you feel like you’re outside. For those who need entertaining, there is also a large wall mounted tv in the dining area.
We returned to the office, after about an hour, and booked to arrive in two days and stay for a week. We then went to their onsite cafe, near reception, and had lunch and a coffee.
We arrived on the Monday, checked in and moved to our site, and the staff that we’d met previously came to welcome us back and wish us a great stay.
Over the next five weeks, we made lots of friends, enjoyed the amenities, and attended a live performance by Gary Carson Jones, at the camp kitchen.
Sadly, we did need to move on, but not without hugs all around from the staff that we’d made friends with while we were there.
In the seven years that we have been on the road, this is the best park that we’ve stayed in. This includes the amenities, the large size of the sites, the wildlife, and most of all staff that work to make such a wonderful park for people to relax and enjoy.
Special thanks to Tim and Carmen for their ongoing vision.

We spent a week in our camper trailer & were impressed with the model of environmentally sensitive
camping. The sites were large, at least four times the size of other commercial campgrounds. The staff
were always helpful & friendly, the amenities modern & cleaned daily. We kept company with a mob of kangaroos, flocks
of Galahs & black cockatoos as well as resident goannas . There was live music on several nights as we sat around the campfire with a glass in hand & visiting wood-fired pizza truck & waffles……we will definitely be back.

WOW, what a great way to start at weekend away after a big week at work, then a 2-hour drive to come to a bush paradise in Tathra for the first time. When we arrived at 5.30pm on Friday we fantastic welcome from the caretakers that told us all about the park and the best fire pits because they don’t have a fire license for everyone to have personal fires.

The park is so big and it was so quiet No Dogs, No Kids riding bikes or making noise, It was all about the Ocean and the Birds. We had the great power swag or tent sites, we had no neighbours only about 10 kangaroos laying in the sun and lots of birds.

We only had to walk gap in the fence into the beautiful bush then cross the road and we are on the beach. It was great I could go back when my husband was fishing.

It’s the first caravan park we have stayed at with no lights on in the park at night, so you could see all the stars it was amazing. Just my husband and I will a coffee and 1000s of stars.

The facilities are all new and look amazing it’s great that you have a code lock when you need to have a shower great security. The only thing that would be great is if you have a shower rack to put your soap, shampoo etc because you put water on the floor and clothes.

It was the best 2 nights we have had in a long time.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend. The Gumnut Pods are a perfect hideaway for a couples weekend. It had everything we needed and more. Very comfortable bed, bathroom, fridge and even some ground coffee....thank you! The option to collect fresh eggs from the chooks for breakfast was next level. How lovely to sit out on the porch and watch the kangaroos. The communal kitchen and BBQ were all immaculate. Great location and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to going back.

The park has beautifully maintained facilities located in a peaceful setting. There are open and treed van sites available, all of which a generously sized.

Wildlife abounds with many different birds, possums, eastern grey kangaroos and a number of large monitor lizards to see on the grounds.

Beach access is easy with paths at either end of the camp, and a short walk into town for cafe, restaurant and groceries.

Our second visit won’t be the last.

Just spent 4 days at the Eco Camp Tathra in our van, we loved the large sites, shade, wildlife, proximity to town and the beach. Also delighted with the herb garden for guests and the coffee shop.
We will be back and well done to the Team at Tathra Eco Camp.

Beautiful, peaceful setting with kangaroos galore and the best camp kitchen we have seen in our years of travels. We experienced a technical issue with our camper, and the staff on at the time Jess and Roo went out of their way to help us. Their warmth and expertise will always be remembered by us. Our recommendations in this magic area would be Wallagoot Gap, the walk from Tathra Headland to Kianinny Bay, and the meals and live music at the historic Tathra Hotel. Oh and of course the coffee at Wild Orchid. We loved the vibe of the whole town.

Stayed 10 nights here. This is one of the best caravan parks that I’ve ever stayed in. Huge sites. Heaps of wildlife. The new toilet block is extremely clean. Just across the road from the beach. Heaps of things to do in the area.
Very friendly & helpful staff.

Lacking facilities, campsite in poor condition. Extremely overpriced for what you get. Staff tell you it’s the cheapest in the area but not worth what they charge ($69 for unpowered site). No kitchen or tv etc. Mostly permanent residents.

Response from Rachael Kobold, General Manager at Tathra Beach Eco Camp
Responded 14 Feb 2021
Hi Suzie, We're sorry you had such a disappointing stay with us. We only just reopened our gates in December, almost 3 years after the bushfires destroyed our beloved caravan park. We still have a long road to recovery and are well aware we aren't where we'd hoped to be by this stage. Given the circumstances our campgrounds are in fantastic condition, in fact they're the greenest they have ever been! We definitely are the cheapest park in the area at only $69 for a powered site (we can't use our unpowered sites any more because of new fire restrictions) during the peak christmas holidays. Our powered sites start at $35/night in the off season and we also offer 3 and 7 night stay discounts during this time. Sadly our Kiosk/ Office, as well as our entertainment room (with TV, and arcade games) burnt down in the bushfires and we're still in the process of rebuilding. As for a kitchen, we do have a camp kitchen however had to make the sad decision to close this facility in line with COVID restrictions during the christmas holidays. It has been a long and stressful recovery, but we're just so happy to at least be able to have people stay with us again. We hope once we're back up and running properly that you will come and stay with us once again and give us a second chance! Warmest regards, Rachael

Camp kitchen fully equipped. Ammenities always spotless. Laundry great.Campground very large with heaps of space to get away and have a fire. This is definitely the best van park in Tathra. Away from road but you still hear the waves crashing on the beach. Enjoyed our time there. Sorry we missed the music on Saturday nights.

Hi Gail, We just reopened at the end of December. We do still have a lot of work to do in the park though before we're back to our former glory!

"If you really want to stay here then give the others in the park a good look and if they appear in any way to be yobbos try camping on the other side of the park - it is a large park. And don't expect management to do anything."
