These new oceanfront rooms are fabulous. There was not a thing I would change if I was designing them myself. The bed and pillows were divine. The colour scheme was calm and fresh. Even the soap in the shower was delightful (not like that stinky lemongrass garbage that other hotels use that doesn't clean anything!). The view to the ocean was mesmerising from our bed and the ceiling fan kept the temp right without having to use aircon which made for a blissful sleep.
The bar and bistro in the same building wasn't at all noisy and the food and wine was delicious and good price. I wish I could have stayed for a week. It was pretty close to the perfect getaway.

This 19th century pub is in a wonderful position next to the ocean and has preserved much of its original character despite extensive renovation. Very quiet and easy parking. I had a great room that led onto the beautiful upstairs verandah, with ocean views. The bar and dining room are great, with a terrific menu including local oysters. Only criticisms: room service knocked on my door a bit early (around 9), but when I asked them to come back after I was up, they only returned reluctantly after some complaining to management. Also, the dining area starts closing up absurdly early in the evening. At 8pm there were tables and chairs being piled up near where I was eating, with the clear hint that I should leave.

We stayed for one night in the newly renovated section of the hotel on our way up the coast. The room was very nicely renovated BUT it was uncomfortably warm and the ceiling fan while helpful was woefully inadequate. The day had been warm probably 30+ degrees but we were left thinking how we would have slept if the day had been any hotter. The lack of air conditioning may have been done for environmental reasons but at $265 for the night I think you should be able to have a comfortable nights sleep. Unfortunately we didn’t.
We did have a nice meal downstairs in the pub but we certainly won’t be staying there next time we are in Tathra.

Beautiful historic hotel set up on the high side of town. Families, friends, couples all welcome. You can sit outside on the large deck or sit inside to whale watch n rake in the great views. Food n service was great. The menu had alot to choose from n slightly on the higher price end but worth the $$ for the ambiance, delicious meals n added bonus of watching whales play out at sea. Book a table as it gets very busy.

We arrived mid morning and were greeted by an older gentleman about my own vintage maybe who made us feel very welcome immediately and organised the key to our room above the pub with access to the upstairs verandah. The room was a good size with a nice bathroom, comfortable bed and great views from the balcony. It's kind of cool to be able to walk down to the bar and bring your drink back up to your room and out on to the balcony.

We had dinner in the bistro which was tasty and there's a great range of beers, some brewed onsite which is also cool. Easy walk down to the headland jetty and the cafe there.

Not sure if Tathra has access to the NBN but the only negative about our stay was the speed of the wifi. Too slow to use on my laptop and Netflix didn't want to know. Shame because everything else was well oiled here so need to get wifi fixed while the renovations are taking place to change this from very good to excellent.

4 for lunch

This is a place that you must visit, even if you only to have a drink. The view is stunning and quite mesmerizing.

Two of us had steak sandwiches which were fairly typical, although it appeared to be a fairly large chunk of meat. The sandwich was served with chips.

One had the salmon Poke which he polished off and seemed to enjoy.

I had the seafood chowder which was a tasty large meal. Different but delightful.

No service to speak of because you had to order at the cashier (separate food from drinks). The only "service" was the clearing of plates which was reasonably efficient.

The views from the tables, whether inside or outside, were amazing.

Stupidly, this place didn't accept Amex. That's a black mark from me.

Tathra Hotel is a great destination pub, an excellent place to spend a couple of nights.
The views from the balcony rooms are gorgeous and the rooms themselves spotless and extremely comfortable.
The management and staff were friendly and accomodating at all times and the 2 evening meals and one breakfast we had were delightful.
I particularly recommend the specials board; we were luck enough to enjoy Eden mussels in Laksa broth - sublime.

The room was incredible as was the view, however we stayed in Mid February and it was warm but not overly hot. Our room was extremely hot and the ceiling fan did little to help. It was so hot at night that it was difficult to sleep. Would have been a 10 out of 10 experience if the room was air conditioned.

Fantastic renovation with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the food and views. We even saw some breaching whales very close to shore from their beer garden.
Unfortunately we arrived at 2.01 and lunch was finished. Communication was not great as there were pizzas being available to order within the following hour but this message was not conveyed to us.

Clean and comfortable stay in new part of hotel./motel. No air conditioning, Can't remember if there was a fan. Bed side lights were "down" lights in the ceiling, that you couldn't dim.

Warm welcome, staff very friendly. Nothing else to say about this.
