Being a local from Newcastle I’d never stayed at Swansea caravan park before even tho I’d spent a lot of time in that area even a school kid .
I arrived Thursday evening and departed Monday morning and had the best short break I could’ve asked for . That weekend was a heat wave in Newcastle with temps well into the 40’s but with the sea breeze and the water only meters away it was very comfortable there , temps not over mid 30’s.
The park is excellent condition with it being a real credit to the management there and their staff , the amenities are spotless and exceptional in there appearance and very modern. It’s location to swansea township s either a short work or a 2minute drive and it has all anybody would need and the water in that area for swimming is pristine . I would recommend anybody who is looking in Newcastle for a park to stay in to seriously consider this one , oh and the beautiful Blacksmiths beach is only a 5 min drive tops over the bridge , all in all a fantastic place to stay and you will not be disappointed Im sure .

Once again another totally relaxing 2 weeks spent at this beautiful holiday location. This place has it all as far as keeping the kids entertained, swimming pool, modern playground, lovely grassed areas and the best beach swimming we have encountered. Ideal for young kids as the water is relatively shallow for approximately 150 metres out, and very little weed. Just a short walk to town and you have the choice of the Workers/Bowling Club and the RSL to keep the mums and dads amused with great meals and excellent prices.

Outstanding location next to Lake Macquarie and only a short drive or long stroll to shops and supermarkets.
This is a one stop destination, with powered and unpowered sites that are very spacious and a range of cabins from standard to deluxe.
A large resort style pool is adjacent to a water park and there are multiple activities available including Putt-putt golf, table tennis, tennis and basketball.
Swimming, kayaking and fishing are right on your doorstep.
Of particular note, are the current managers and their team. They are responsive to all requests and highly visible. With such a large and busy park, this is an imperative.

This is a great park and we have stayed here many times.
However, their precautions against COVID-19 are very disappointing.
They tell you they have contactless check-in. This means they leave a plastic box outside of reception with envelopes for those checking in to collect. There is no hand sanitiser next to the box. Therefore when you arrive you have to lift the lid off the box (which everyone else who has checked in has touched), flick through the envelopes (again everyone else would have done this) and then put the lid back on the box. This means that yes, it does protect the staff which I fully support but not the guests. Putting hand sanitiser next to the box and leaving a sign asking those checking in to use it would make it safer for everyone.
The amenities has a one way system, in one door and out another which is great. However, they have half of the amenities locked off. I realise that this is what they usually do when the park is not full. However, these are not normal times and if they were serious about social distancing they would open them all. I appreciate that this costs more in terms of cleaning etc but in my opinion doing everything they can to ensure the health and safety of their patrons should be their number one priority.
Hopefully the management will use this feedback to improve their COVID-19 practices.

Response from Lake Mac Holiday Parks, Owner at Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park
Responded 21 July 2020
Thank you for providing feedback on your stay at Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park. We can assure you that we are doing everything that we can to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and are taking all precautions as recommended by the NSW Government for Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds including having a COVID-19 Safety Plan. Precautions we have implemented include conditions of entry and screening of customers, completion of declaration forms, additional cleaning, hand sanitiser stations throughout the park, social distancing measures and contactless check-in where possible. We welcome your feedback on the check-in process, and can advise that there is a hand sanitiser station mounted on the wall adjacent to the check-in box. We will certainly endeavour to ensure its location is clearer upon arrival. We have trialled emailing check in information to customers and do this where we can, however many customers were having trouble finding their site and returning to the office to obtain printed out maps. Cabin keys also need to be physically collected so completely contactless check-in is not possible for every customer. We will continue to trial alternative ways to improve the contactless check-in process and reduce the need for the collection box at reception. Once again, we thank you for your feedback and hope that you will return to the park again in the future. Kind regards, the Lake Mac Holiday Parks team.

I stayed with 3 of my kids, in Oct 22, in a budget cabin.
The park itself is a lovely area, spacious, swimming pool & waterpark area for the kids is great !
Plenty of bbq areas around the place.
The issues we were pretty concerned / frustrated about, were the constant sugar / bull ants we had in the kitchen /lounge / dining & bedroom . I ended up having sugar ant bites / welts all over my legs & arms mainly ( nowhere else on my body ) during the night after sleeping. I went & told the reception staff & also the Manager himself didn’t sound concerned & said that would be just from sand flies by being outside, that it is normal etc & pretty much couldn’t care less about the sugar ant situation inside our cabin. He was pretty much dismissive of my bites, Did Not sound at all worried re my issues with the ants going in my food.
The sliding doors locks also didn’t work.
Hopefully they will fix this problem

I was gathering with friends from different parts of Sydney and beyond, so we decided to stay together, but separate.
I booked the 'budget' cabin. It contained a double, bed with clean sheets and also clean towels. There was not bad smell like damp or leftover from some other holidayers. The kitchen had all the utensils I needed for a 3 night stay.
The cabin was fresh clean and I felt safe, staying on my own. The park has good secure fencing all around.
So close to Lake Macquarie (it's just there) and the new boardwalk with lots of bird and other animal life.

Upon my arrival into the office to check in, one could see that this office is efficiently run which also was very tidy & clean. A feel good reception at arrival time. Also found that the whole park is well manicured & neat but required more garbage dump bins like other parks that I have stayed.

Exceptionally clean villa, spectacular views, close to water with lots of shady trees. We enjoyed the facilities including mini golf and the on-site food van. The park is within walking distance of the channel for fishing and supermarkets. There are also clubs nearby for tasty meals. The co-op where you can get fresh seafood is not far.

Hi, yes the deluxe villas have air conditioning.
Hi Justine,
Dogs are not permitted at Swansea Gardens Lakeside Holiday Park, however we do allow dogs at two of our other parks not far from Swansea - Belmont Pines Lakeside Holiday Park and Blacksmiths Beachside Holiday Park. Please check the full terms and conditions of our pet policy on our website.
Hi Katrina,
There is a boat ramp for launcing larger boats adjacent to the park in Thomas Humphreys Reserve. Small tinnies can be launched in front of the park direct to the lake. In the Swansea Channel (where larger boats are launched) there is no issue with sand bars.
