Situated on one of Australia's oldest colonial working farms, The Barracks provides boutique accommodation on a unique heritage site. Four suites have been beautifully restored to provide elegant comforts in the same space where convicts and farmhands worked and toiled over 150 years ago. Each suite allows guests to enjoy the same views of sweeping hillsides and colonial buildings in air conditioned comfort. For those cool evenings, at the push of a button, a restored fireplace is available to warm the sitting room. The sitting room, kitchenette and bathroom are downstairs while upstairs are the sleeping quarters. Queen sized beds are in three of the suites with one suite providing two king sized single beds. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in each little kitchenette with a Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster and a bar fridge provided. A breakfast hamper is complimentary and delivered to your suite each morning of your stay.

Hubby and I wanted a peaceful weekend and the Barracks did not disappoint. These convict quarters have been converted into the most elegant accommodation. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway to disconnect (there’s no tv or WiFi) then this is the perfect place. Downstairs sitting room was warm and cosy, bathroom was super clean, and upstairs bedroom had gorgeous views of the homestead property. The breakfast hamper delivered in the morning was delicious and fresh. Communication with the Barracks was clear and easy, but dealing with the caretaker Michael was a highlight of the stay - he took care of us really well and gave us great history about the property. Was lovely to explore Tocal Homestead and greet the animals as well. Loved our stay - perfect for couples.

The Barracks is newly renovated on the Tocal Homestead farm. We stayed in the Waggoner suite that faces West for a great sunset view. The Caretaker Mick turns on the Electric log fire before you arrive and brings you a generous bakery breakfast each day. Don't miss a tour of the grounds!

Had a fabulous one night stay at The Barracks Tocal, so that we could attend the Elton John concert at Hope Estate. Loved our room, the beautiful homestead which is fun to wander around, and the delicious hamper breakfast in the morning. Michael the caretaker was very kind and knowledgable about the property which has an interesting history. The location was a little remote with respect to the concert but we enjoyed the local pub and journey to the concert by coach.

How much we loved our family holiday at the Barracks Tocal! Everything was perfect! The location, the accommodation, the treats, the tours and most of all our host’s hospitality. Michael looked after us very well, taking us on tours in the property, showing us around and bringing us our delicious breakfasts every morning. The attention to detail in this property is outstanding. Our breakfasts were varied every day, with local treats to top it all up, giving our stay a lovely touch. Michael is a great asset to the place, generous with his time always, to show us around at our convenience. The location is postcard like. You feel you are back in time to an idyllic way of life. I feel this is a well kept secret that needs to get out, and more people should enjoy this gem of a place. Highly recommended.

What an incredible spot! From the moment we arrived we were met by the beautiful caretaker Kali, who made us feel immediately at home.
We stayed in the Wagoner Barracks. All the accommodation is the same, just slightly different views. Although small in width, with their tall ceilings and beautiful interior they feel both cosy and roomy at the same time! They are complimented by a little kitchenette, a fire, and AirCon. The bed was comfy (a harder mattress), the rooms clean, and the views beautiful.
Sunset was incredible, with sunrise matching it with the addition of mist and a lovely breakfast platter!
The property sports many attractions from pigs, to the old barns, blacksmith, and local horse ‘Harry’ who loves a good scratch. All of the attractions have little plaques to give you insight into the history of the place.
We stayed for one night before the tasting pre-wedding which was a really nice way to get to see the property properly before the big day and to have a little trip away together.
We would highly recommend it!

The Tocal Homestead and associated buildings was a unique heritage location for a few days away. We stayed in the 1835 Barracks which were very comfortable and nicely restored. Breakfasts delivered to your room were excellent on both days. Michael who met us on arrival at the front gate of the estate, as arranged, was a font of knowledge and showed us around one morning.
Highly recommend The Barracks for an enjoyable country stay.

Loved staying at the Barracks pre and post my daughters wonderful Tocal wedding. The rooms are well set up and we loved using the verandah for natural light doing our make up. It was also a lovely spot to have a glass of champagne together. The views are beautiful.
After a huge day the close proximity of our room was much appreciated and the post wedding breakfast with family next day was excellent too. Lovely breakfast trays delivered with perfect timing to our rooms.
Beautiful rooms, excellent breakfast and divine views.
