If I had to rate the staff it would be a straight 5/5. Excellent service and so helpful.

Room large with a very comfortable king sized bed. Sofa (sofabed) was difficult to sit comfortably on as the cushions seem to have lost all their support.

Could have made better use of the space in the room and it would benefit from a lick of paint and some of the furniture repaired or replaced.

To be honest when I booked this, I expected roughly what I got, but being on a long trip we have stayed at far better places for less. In both Australia and New Zealand.

Final comment, the guest services book, I appreciate you need to advise customers of additional charges for bad behaviour, damage etc but this book just goes over the top about them, in not very friendly language. There's even a bit about EVICTION and a final stern warning, on your way out, about fines if you forget to leave the TV remote!

A huge plus was they offered a full cancellation up to the day before arrival if the trip had to be cancelled or postponed. Goodo.
The room was clean and the bed was fine. The general air was of a cinderella in limbo: a godmotherly wand might appear to refix bathroom floor tiles, to re-attach powerpoints to the wall, to dim the rattle of the bathroom fan, to replace the wobbly bedlamp...did somebody say Prince Handyman? I'm not quite sure why the room closest to the office was allocated to us...the place was almost unoccupied on our first night. Anyway, cleanliness was enough to cheer us through the stay. And the aircon did work, hooray. Whilst the telly remote was a bit temperamental...and the absence of toaster or microwave seemed a tad stingy. But well done to Peninsula for being in Nelson Bay during a fab weather week.

I liked the Peninsula. It was in a great location. An easy walk to the Nelson Bay Marina and close to Shoal Bay also. Breakfast in the restaurant was good ... though slightly limited due to Coronavirus restrictions (which is understandable). The room was clean, comfortable and quite. One of the things I really liked was the block out curtains which allowed us to have a really nice sleep in. Management were friendly and our (very) late check in was no problem. We had a good stay.

We stayed at this hotel Monday 6/01/25 and checked out Wednesday 8/01/25, but were meant to check out on Thursday 9/01/25. The cost for the 3 nights was $1603 for four of us, It is advertised as a 4 Star Motel, however it is anything from this. We arrived on the Monday at 2.45pm, the lady who was on the reception desk that day, gave us the key and took our money. She also advised reception closed at 4pm. We dropped our bags off to our room and went to visit friends that live at Boat Harbour. We got back late that night. when we went to have a shower, in both bedrooms were heaps of mosquitos, the fly spray under the kitchen cupboard was virtually empty and smelt like turps when sprayed and it didn't kill the mosquitos, which I think had come in from the big gap under the front door. There was pubic hair around the bowl of the toilet, which obviously had not been cleaned prior to our arrival! The only saving grace was the beds were clean! The air conditioner in the main bedroom has leaked with a drip run mark down the wall, to the point the timber skirting which meets the carpet has rotted! The door in the bathroom has a hole in it, which has obviously not been repaired and the sink tap in the bathroom is funky, however when on full, hits the end of the bowl and splashes over the floor, which is an OHS issue. The lounge in the bottom tv room (leather look a like) has splits in it, and had been duct taped up!!! Seriously! As I mentioned, there was four of us staying there and on the Tuesday, when room service was done, three bath towels were only supplied even though we paid for four people in this room. The staircase creaked as you went up or down the stairs and all in all, it wasn't a pleasant stay, hence why we left a day earlier, as we were going to leave on Tuesday night, but given reception was closed, we didn't know where to leave the key and I also wanted to explain our experience to management. The next day Wednesday when we did leave, I let Karen know of the above experience, she said the mosquitos are probably due to the weather (humidity) she didn't comment on the bathroom and the towel situation, she said you should of called, the phone goes to an after hours number, little did we know of we would of. The lounge she said, we are getting new lounges, so really she had a answer for everything. I said to her, it is definitely not four star and she replied, this is what NRMA have said it is!!! I am still waiting on back as I requested but given we are now two weeks into February I highly double this will happen!!!

The accommodation isn't in 'the thick of things' which is a big drawcard - along with parking, a restaurant and an easy walk/drive to the beach.
We found that booking was easy and bypassed a surcharge by using direct deposit (Thanks Karen) and when we arrived were met by Karen with instructions to the room/restaurant and anything else we wanted to know.
We stayed in a superior spa suite with King bed and balconies on 2 sides. All areas were clean, bed was comfortable and despite being near the main road into Shoal Bay etc, we found it to be reasonably quiet. The unit also had a kitchen area with utensils and a good sized (quiet) refrigerator
Would recommend staying here - or one of their apartments.

Very very ordinary. Mould in the bathrooms, carpets obviously not vacuumed, blow flies in the sliding window and door sills, poorly maintained, even the paint job was slapped up...it simply doesnt live up to its price bracket.. but Putting the poor value for money issue aside i felt slightly embarrassed for the management who either didn't care or were oblivious to the idea of a positive customer experience. A business model or just squeezing the last $$ out of a building that is sadly at the end of its life and waiting to be redeveloped? The last little bit of salt in the wound was the laminated sign in the kitchen( a kitchen that didnt seem to have hot water or dish washing liquid provided by the way). The friendly note threatens another hundred if you dont (more like cant) washup your dishes....Sick joke?

We stayed at the Peninsula Motel as part of an anniversary visit to Nelson Bay. The one-bedroom suite was much more spacious than I had expected and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The location, while quiet at night, was wiithin walking distance of the local RSL Club for dinner.

We'll be back next time we visit the area.

I booked a room with this motel and had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances.
The motel has a policy that they will take your accomodation costs out 72 hours before you arrive and in turn you must give the same amount of notice when cancelling. BE AWARE OF THIS.

This motel took my accomodation costs out well before this time and even though I rang well within their stated cancellation policy time to cancel I am still fighting to get a refund on my accomodation costs 3 days later.
When I rang the motel to enquire about the problem I spoke to the very abusive, rude receptionist who stated that she was the manager and was well within her rights to do what she had done and would not let me talk or try to ask questions at all and then she hung up on me!!!

There are much better places to stay in Nelson Bay .

Will not recommend anyone to stay at this dodgy apartments. They will try to rip you off for everything without even notifying you, so be very careful. Staff doesn't want to provide any service at all but they make sure they rip you off once you checked out. Photos on their website are deceiving as you dont get anything similar when you enter the room. I would not recommend this place for your accommodation at all. We stayed in room number 308 from 28th Nov to 01/12/2020 and paid $1500. It was annoying to find out when they charged us extra for leaving used towels in bathroom, like seriously?? Total Rip off

We enjoyed our stay at the Peninsula Nelson Bay. The big drawcard for us as a large family, we had lots of space in the 2 bedroom split/ upstairs area. Complimentary snacks and milk was a bonus. Front staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Even allowed us to check in very early after a tiring overnight drive which was a huge ask. It was low season so the area was quiet and we had a great night sleep and comfy beds. We were extremely happy with our stay that we extended for another night. The Peninsula ticked all our boxes and is reasonably priced. We regularly visit the bay so will definitely return on our next trip.
