Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We loved this Motel. Location is superb: 3 min walk to the beach, 9 min walk to main streets for shops, restaurants ect. Very quiet area and yet so central, everything within walking distance.
Rooms have exposed bricks which I found gives it a certain character.
Our room looked like was recently revamped: curtains and shades were crisp and new, sheets looked brand new.
We had a balcony to enjoy our morning coffee with views over the park and a nicely sized tv. There were also microwave, a decent size mini fridge with built in freezer, kettle and some basic cutlery.
Bathroom was a bit dated but very clean and water pressure in the shower was great. They also have some eco friendly amenities attached to the wall including shaving foam. 1 car space is provided for each room.
I only have one suggestion for improvement and that would be to invest in a proper hairdryer (the one on the wall is very dated although it worked fine), but apart from this we had a great stay and we’ll be back.

Excellent location, close to the bay, quiet and secluded Neighbourhood & not too big a premise. PIN number to get into room instead of keys, reception was manned til 8pm the night we were there. Undercover parking, all under the building. Very comfortable, great value for price. Accommodation is all above ground so less able ppl may find this an issue, though there is a lift.

Staff are very friendly. Rooms are clean and tidy. Perfect for what we needed. Great location. Lovely little pool and birds all around. Very happy with our choice, there are more expensive places but this motel gives you what you need for a fraction of the price

Stayed one night. No one on site for checkin, took two phone calls to get an answer and another 5 minutes to receive a check in code to allow access to the room. Rooms are VERY old and mismatched. Shower head is healed together with duct tape (literally), light switch is difficult to find and access as it’s hidden behind a home made cupboard. The bathroom has no ventilation so everything ends up wet and freezing cold . On the upside the room was pretty clean and the location is ok. I’d stay again but only if there wasn’t another option. There are much better options available for similar $.

We booked a ground floor room for an overnight stay, on our journey home to Queensland. The booking was made on line for a ground floor room and payment was required on booking, it was not cheap$180. . Arriving at the motel we were greeted with a tired and rubdown building. . Reception was unattended, a text message had been sent with a unit number and entry code. In accessing the room the carpet was disgusting and furnishings not much better. Towel & bed linen looked clean. We rang motel contact number and ask for refund. No refund was offered. Change of room was offered however !st floor with no lift. 1st floor is problem for us as we are elderly. Had no option but to accept room change. Room was a little better.DO NOT BOOK AT THIS MOTEL

This is a fantastic motel for the price. Wayne who is the owner, is extremely helpful, friendly and accomodating.
The motel is very boat friendly and Wayne helped me in the rain for 30 minutes, fix a boat issue I had.

I would highly recommend this motel.

This motel is situated close to the shopping center. The room was compact and clean. The TV is mounted on the wall and able to be swivelled in all directions so that it can be viewed on the patio. The WiFi is the only negative part as there was no signal. The manager was friendly and able to give advice on surroundings. Will return here in future.

Bed sheets of double bed were clean and crisp; those of the single I am almost certain they were not fresh. The bathroom needs a thorough clean; and the carpet just replacement. It’s a shame, as the people were very friendly and welcoming, the location within a short walk to Nelson Beach, and I’d like to support small business.

This was a middle of the road place to stay. The manageress was friendly and helpful. Our room was reasonably small, but it was clean and tidy and well serviced.
no problems with bed or bedding. For my wife and I, it was an idea medium priced place to stay for a couple of nights.
It is close to shops, dining and other attractions, many within walking distance -- 10 - 15 minutes.

A good value motel -- reasonable tariff, clean and beautifully situated among parkland and Port Stephens. Easy walk to Nelson Bay strip and other amenities. Our room was quite lacking in natural light, ask for that if it is important to you. Definitely not luxury accommodation, but if you need a place to stay in Nelson Bay, it does the job.
