Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a voucher owing to a previous cancellation but only wanted to stay one night which was a Friday night. Told that it was not possible as they only had 2 night stays at the weekends. Yet I drove past there on the Friday night after 7pm & there were vacancies. Why would you turn down accommodation for one night when you have vacancies is beyond me.

The managers are the worst people I've come across in the whole of Australia. Very nasty to my son and I who both have Veteran's Service dogs. Charged us $100 for room cleaning despite the dogs being kept in their cage. I've only been charge $5 max anywhere else. Very nasty people!

This is a typical Australian motel stuck in the last century. The good point was that it was clean and the location is good, central. The negatives were many. It's noisy, paper thin walls, the accessories are extremely cheap and old, the bathroom is really ugly. The price? well, not that cheap for a place to sleep only. You're basically getting a bed for the night for quite a bit of money. If that is what you are after, coming in at 10pm and leaving in the morning and paying the asked price, then this is the place for you.

Chose this place for a quick 1-night stay to attend a family event. It was located close to where we needed to be. We stayed in the family room- 2 x adults + 2 x teens. The room itself is large, immaculately clean, dated-but-functional. Bathroom is the same- large, clean and functional. For a family of essential 4 x adult-sized people, this was all sufficient for 1 x night. I would suggest all the beds need replacement in this room. Lumpy, rolling around...years past their expiry date. Even the single beds were sinking in the middle and lumpy. If you have any issues with your back, these beds will be torture to you. My main complaint was with the paper-thin doors and walls. The adjoining neighbours were out the front of our room door (yes, literally....) smoking, drinking and talking till 1am. Things quietened only down after I stuck my head out the door. Same people then went to their rooms to commence snoring. Yup - I heard their conversations "word-for-word" then I got to hear them snore up a storm. We knew we were not booking the Hilton. But did the place fill it's purpose? No. No sleep to be found here.

The Central was just that - walk to restaurants, shops, foreshore and harbour but quiet location. It is basic, affordable and clean. I had a small issue which was acted on immediately. This is a professionally run establishment that I would thoroughly recommend.

The location and price of this motel make it perfect for us so we always stay here when we are working down here. Older style motel which is usually what we go for. Good location close to food etc. Rooms are pretty big and always clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and make us feel at home. It’s not the Hilton but it’s 10 out of 10 for what it is.

Check in was excellent and the room was beautifully clean and smelled fresh. The location, as others say, is the real benefit of staying here. Though it is indeed central, it was not noisy at all. The only reason for a 3 star rather than 4 for this review is that the bed was very hard, which would suit some, but not this reviewer. $170 for the night in high season.

Booked direct the day before our visit, very helpful with booking. Motel is in a good central location, close to marina and cafes etc. Room was well laid out with a small table and chairs, double bed and single bed. Plenty of crockery and cutlery, also a toaster, kettle and microwave. Liked being offered fresh milk too! Yes it is an older style motel but is very clean, good amenities, and great quiet location. We only stayed one night but will definitely stay again when next in Nelson Bay.

Clean and rather big room. Ok price for a night or two. Not so comfortable beds. At least not for my back. But a ok stay. Good help at reception. The wifi was not working for more than some minuters now and then.
