Detailed Reviews
The location and price of this motel make it perfect for us so we always stay here when we are working down here. Older style motel which is usually what we go for. Good location close to food etc. Rooms are pretty big and always clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and make us feel at home. It’s not the Hilton but it’s 10 out of 10 for what it is.

Booked direct the day before our visit, very helpful with booking. Motel is in a good central location, close to marina and cafes etc. Room was well laid out with a small table and chairs, double bed and single bed. Plenty of crockery and cutlery, also a toaster, kettle and microwave. Liked being offered fresh milk too! Yes it is an older style motel but is very clean, good amenities, and great quiet location. We only stayed one night but will definitely stay again when next in Nelson Bay.

Had a voucher owing to a previous cancellation but only wanted to stay one night which was a Friday night. Told that it was not possible as they only had 2 night stays at the weekends. Yet I drove past there on the Friday night after 7pm & there were vacancies. Why would you turn down accommodation for one night when you have vacancies is beyond me.

The managers are the worst people I've come across in the whole of Australia. Very nasty to my son and I who both have Veteran's Service dogs. Charged us $100 for room cleaning despite the dogs being kept in their cage. I've only been charge $5 max anywhere else. Very nasty people!

This is a typical Australian motel stuck in the last century. The good point was that it was clean and the location is good, central.
The negatives were many. It's noisy, paper thin walls, the accessories are extremely cheap and old, the bathroom is really ugly.
The price? well, not that cheap for a place to sleep only. You're basically getting a bed for the night for quite a bit of money.
If that is what you are after, coming in at 10pm and leaving in the morning and paying the asked price, then this is the place for you.

Check in was excellent and the room was beautifully clean and smelled fresh. The location, as others say, is the real benefit of staying here. Though it is indeed central, it was not noisy at all. The only reason for a 3 star rather than 4 for this review is that the bed was very hard, which would suit some, but not this reviewer. $170 for the night in high season.

The Central was just that - walk to restaurants, shops, foreshore and harbour but quiet location. It is basic, affordable and clean. I had a small issue which was acted on immediately. This is a professionally run establishment that I would thoroughly recommend.

We had our doubts about staying at a motel given the wealth of accommodation options available, but Central Motel dispelled those doubts in a single night!
Alice was very kind to offer us fresh milk for our coffee/tea, we had our pick of DVDs and as the name suggests, you couldn't drive around Nelsons Bay without passing by the centrally located motel! Add in wi-fi and a personal parking lot and we couldn't be happier at the value we received :)

We had an accommodation voucher for this motel which was out of date, they were good enough to let us still use it.
We (myself, hubby, 6yo and 3yo), stayed in a family room (the one you see if you check their website it has the chairs and table and two single beds in the photo - happy to report the floral bedspreads and pink towels are no more), which was slightly bigger than I expected. Room was clean with neutral décor. Bathroom was also clean.
Our stay was for three nights, so it was nice that every day when we left the room the beds were made (love that!), tea coffee and biscuits replenished and used towels replaced.
TV reception was great with all digital stations, and although we didn't watch any dvd's the complimentary ones they had looked like a good up to date selection.
I liked that as they weren't too busy at the time we stayed, they seemed to keep the guests they had a room apart, which was nice and made it extra quiet.
Owners are nice and helpful.
Great location, short easy walk to the marina, restaurants, shops and beach, and opposite the police station so no hoons being noisy at night.
No kitchenette in the room but the bathroom sink was big enough to fit the kettle and do any washing up and there is dishwashing cloth, detergent, tea towel, and a toaster & microwave.
There is some 'mini bar' items (chips chocs and soft drinks) quite reasonably priced.
We ordered breakfast one morning it was pretty good especially the cappuccino was really nice.
We usually stay in rental houses for our holidays, so the kids have a backyard to run around in, but this was surprisingly a great place to stay, when the days activities were finished if the kids got bored back at the motel we just walked to the park or the beach. We had a lovely holiday.
Only thing that was a bit annoying was the wheels on the beds made them move about a bit.

We can accommodate late check ins. It is always helpfull if you let us know you will late. It just makes your check in a much smoother and at that time of night I'm sure you would want that.
