It is not on the beach, BUT, it's an easy 5 minute walk away, 3 minute walk to the shopping centre and restaurants (which are great). The apartment was well appointed with cooking utensils, cutlery, washing machine and dryer. The flat screen TV was huge and we found the apartment very comfortable.

It had undercover parking for our car, the staff were friendly, the bed very comfortable. We booked a 2 bedroom pool view room which also offered water glimpses from the balcony which was nice. Port Stephens exceeded our expectations and had heaps to do, and Mantra was a great base to operate from.

The apartment is getting a little tired and has a few very minor shows of age (paint chips, older fixtures), but these are more than made up for by the positives. These are serviced apartments (not a Hotel) so no daily room service (although I'm sure this would be available at an extra cost). Two bathrooms was a great benefit, the BBQ area was great, and the pool lovely.

We hope to return and soon.

As a family of four adults and a child, we stayed here for 2 nights. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with a balcony on the ground floor facing the pool. The apartment was easy to walk to, spacious, clean, and the kitchen was well furbished with whatever we needed for out 2 night stay. The main bedroom was large, with an en-suite; the 2nd bedroom was rather small, but with sufficient wardrobe space. Parking for one car was provided, and free visitor parking was easy to get.

Location-wise, this was not on the beach, but the beach is a short 5-7 min walk away. There are lots of restaurants, cafes, shops near by.

And the service was fantastic... very friendly people at reception.

Our stay was amazing. The room was spacious, super clean, comfortable, a brilliant view and had everything we needed.

The bed was really comfortable and the wifi worked really well too.

The location of the resort is so close to everything at Nelson Bay we loved being able to walk everywhere.

What I love most about Mantra Nelson Bay is the service. I emailed two separate questions before I checked in and I found the service to be outstanding. I love that the replies were replied to extremely quickly and were really helpful. In particular Lorraine is a superstar and was really helpful. I also really appreciated that we asked for a room with a water view and she went out if her to make sure we were given a room with a water view. Thank you very much 😊

We were really dissapointed with our stay at the Mantra. Our room was advertised as a pool view room and we paid extra so i assumed we would be looking over the pool, however all we could see was the corner of the pool. I was then advised the other units are poolside and ours is pool view, although we could see the ocean Id suggest making that clearer in the room booking descriptions or changing the name of our room to better reflect the room type.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, it was clean however it was outdated and needs new furniture and to be updated and refreshed. The bathrooms also need a update, they had a 'dirty feeling too them. It was very dusty in the apartment, my partner was continually sneezing. We saw several baby cockroaches in the apartment which was a bug turn off.

Security was a bit of an issue, we also noticed several guys using the pool who weren't staying there, they just walked out of the mantra once they were finished. The staff didn't seem to be monitoring anything, although the receptionist was very nice and welcoming.

Overall, they were cleaning and disinfecting the lifts and reception area which was nice to see during the current times however I wouldn't stay here again. I don't think its a 4 star hotel and would say it is more 3 stars. It can definetely be improved and revived by giving the apartments a update and refresh.

Appreciate you taking the time to review your stay, although disappointment is certainly not what we work towards. We do have pool view apartments across our 3 buildings and all will provide different aspects. From memory, I believe the team were trying to treat you with ocean views and then we didn't have the availability to move you on arrival. We will address your feedback with the unit owner, thank you. Many of our units are currently undergoing refurbishment, you are welcome to place that request prior to arrival should your resolve not to return change. We would welcome the opportunity to welcome you and your family at another time and to see your experience improve. With thanks and kind regards, Leanne

We stayed at the Mantra over the weekend. There were seven of us in total so we booked a 3 bedroom penthouse apartment. We were give apartment 38 in Block B. The size of the apartment was good however it left so much to be desired for a preminium property. The furnishings were what I would expect to find in grandma's house. They were old and very dated. The beds were no better than a cheap bed from fantastic furniture, they were hard and uninviting. The accessories on the beds were horrendous. The stone benchtops in the kitchen were so stain, chipped and overall looked disgusting.

The cleanliness left a lot to be desired! The toilets have not had a good clean around the outside for months - there was still urine splash marks in the ensuite from the previous guest, the airconditioning return vents were full of dust, the cutlery still had the last persons egg on it. I was not game to even sit on the lounges which were so stained and dirty.

The head of housekeeping came to look at the apartment on Saturday and did offer some solutions. They did try to make the beds more inviting by placing a padded underlay on the bed and it did make it slighly better but not much. She oirganised to have bed sheets placed over the lounges so that we could at least sit on them.

The outside facilities were great and the children loved the pool and splashpad. The gardens looked lovely and well maintained.

This stay was certainly not what I expected from a $600 per night apartment. To say I am extremely disappointed is an understatement.

We always appreciate receiving constructive feedback and certainly apologise for any short-fallings. Your experience has been addressed across the teams. We sincerely hope to welcome you at another time- and to send you home happy and relaxed, having had a wonderful time! Kind regards Leanne

The Mantra Nelson Bay should provide training and advice to all the other accommodation providers in the Nelson Bay area.

In our recent experience, the level of service, cleanliness, value for money and quality of accommodation sets the Mantra far apart from most if not all the accommodation in the Nelson Bay area.

Management, please remember...you're only as good as your people, and your people are a credit to themselves and their employer.

Stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom superior apartment. We were in apartment 1 which was located right above the car park and entrance to the building.

Positives for this resort are the staff were always lovely and very helpful if we needed anything
The pool and spa were great and the best part of this hotel
The location is really good and it’s only a few minutes walk to lots of shops and restaurants and probably a 5 minute walk to the water

Negatives
The elevator was broken for 2 out of 3 days of our visit. We had a baby in a pram with us and had to carry her up and down an emergency exit stairwell on multiple occasions which was very unsafe
The superior apartments weren’t that superior in my opinion- extremely dated furniture, dirty marks all over the bathroom cupboards, dirty grout in bathroom etc
Wouldn’t recommend anyone with a baby to stay in apartment 1- due to it being right over the car park it was very noisy and you could hear people talking and beeping horns late into the night every night which would wake our baby up

Overall this place needs a bit of TLC

We stayed in a 2 bedroom pool side apartment for the weekend, 2 adults 2 kids. The apartment was cleanish but very basic and outdated. It desperately needs renovations and furniture replaced.
Rate was good compared to other places we tried. Kids loved the pool and splash area. Reception staff were hit and miss, one lady was friendly and helpful and the lady I encountered at checkout was not.
On Saturday, many groups of younger people checked in, and we could hear their drunken laughter and chatter for a while in the corridor of the apartment building. No one to call and complain as reception closes earlier.
Location is excellent, a few minutes walk away from the main square and cafes, a few minutes more to the marina.
No restaurant on site.
You have to pay $2.50 for each pool towel to hire it for the duration of the stay. These are apparently outsourced as when I complained that one had chewing gum smushed into it, I was not offered a refund, but was told nothing they can do about it.
Overall was ok for location and cheaper then other accommodations around.

Had the pleasure of staying here for 8 nights. We were in a 2 bedroom apartment with a king bed in the main room with an en suite and a queen bed in the 2nd room . There was a 2nd bathroom with a deep bath and shower over the bath. There was a full sized kitchen with fridge, dishwasher ,microwave ,bench top stove and oven. the kitchen was fully stocked with saucepans ,cutlery, dinner set and glasses of all types. A six set dining table and chairs as well as a 4seat dining table on the balcony. the lounge consisted of 2x2 seater lounge with spare cushions and a large TV and DVD player. There is also a washing machine , dryer ,ironing board and iron in the apartment if required.
We were within walking distance of the town centre and the bay . there were plenty of restaurants .cafes , a large Woolworths and other smaller shops. Whale watching boats and ferries to Tea Gardens are just next to the marina.
There is a Bowling Club behind the Mantra ( which you can get to through a back entrance) as well as a golf club . A RSL club is a short drive away .
Totally recommend the Mantra as a great place to stay and the reception ladies are eager to help with problems or questions about the area and were always cheerful . Thank you Mantra - we will be back

We had a 3 night stay and could not have been happier with our 2 bedroom unit. The furniture, furnishings, appliances and other utensils and cookware were perfectly acceptable and as clean as we have seen in other places where we have stayed. We had a partial view of the bay area, but we knew that we were not booking into a waterfront resort before we left home. The pool/spa/BBQ area is beautiful and we had a view of this from out unit. It was being well used and provided enjoyment for lots of guests. In our whole stay time, we saw staff actively manicuring the resort gardens and keeping everything as tidy as could be. One thing that we loved, was how accessible it was when walking to the main shopping centre, Marina area, parklands, cafes and restaurants and 2 of the big local clubs which both serve meals. Unlike some other places we have stayed at, a car space was provided in an undercover, secure carpark. The staff working here are very friendly and you are made to feel welcome from the moment you pick up your room key. Security here is a top priority and we were definitely staying in a very quiet, safe and restful environment. Seems to us that there is a lot going for this place and we will definitely stay again.

Hello Teash, Thank you for your enquiry and I am happy to advise there are 2 allocated car spaces for the 3 Bedroom Deluxe Penthouse so the third car will be able to go into one of the many visitors spaces and will not be a problem. I hope this helps and feel free to contact us again any time.
