We had another over night stay here our fourth it is a great place to stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband decided on the downstairs unit with queen bed. Which was modern and clean. Awesome high pressure showers. I do prefer paying the extra for the more roomier suite with awesome views of the inlet where you can see boats coming in and out. Very close to town and opposite a good Chinese restaurant, Italian restuarant and a pub which has a great view. Would stay here again. The couple who run it are very friendly and make you feel welcome.

The service here is immaculate. The staff were so welcoming and cheerful. The dining room is very cosy and warm with a lively atmosphere since it was busy and happening the Saturday night we dined here. It's hard to go wrong with Oysters Naturale so no complaints here. Then we had the fish to start. It was nice. Well cooked, but the sauce was maybe a bit on the heavy or try-too-hard side. We really wanted veggies or a salad to go with it but there was no salad to speak of available, and the veggie option was cauliflower with something or other uninspiring. I don't know why greens just can't be served automatically with the meal instead of optional extras. And then so unexciting. There is nothing wrong with a simple green salad with dressing as a standard side dish. It always goes down well with a main course that isn't serving good veggies. The rosè wine choice by the glass was an organic one and it was delicious. We were told that this is the best place in town for a decent feed by local friends who live here. It's fine, but its not as good as it could be.

A long time favourite of mine in Narooma, the hospitality didn’t disappoint this time either.
Jen was very accommodating when I booked, not only ensuring my request for a room with a view was met but also offering the use of a carport for my motorcycle - which was very much appreciated due to the rain we experienced while there.
Thanks again, I’ll be back!

After a long days drive from Lakes Entrance we drove into the Whale Inn, thinking this doesn't look like much. Don't judge a book buy its cover. Firstly the rooms are very well appointed. Microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine with coffee pods are all in the sliding cupboard waiting for the tired traveler. The rooms could be described as well maintained and very clean. The location is excellent. We took the kids for a quick stroll to the mouth of the river and saw the seals basking on the rocks. The highlight, though, was the restaurant. As a guest you can dine in your room however we chose to eat in the restaurant. The food was fabulous as was the service.

We spent just one night here but wished it could’ve been more. What a beautiful, scenic town. I can’t think of a prettier town on the NSW coast. The hotel is located high on the hill with great views of the ocean. The rooms were very well appointed with small, thoughtful additions such as a 4 plug power board underneath the bedside tables, a recycling box in the room, some tasty homemade biscuits and a dimmer switch in the room were just some of the features. E would highly recommend the motor inn and will be back for a longer stay next time!

I have stayed at the Whale once every 4-6 weeks for the last 5 years or so. This will be the last time. Previous owners were exceptional and the rooms were always spotless. I stayed last week, and given the current concerns about cleanliness and hygiene I was disgusted to walk into the bathroom and find remnants of the last guests toothpaste spat over the sink. There were hairs, grease and debris in the bath (the shower is over the bath). I felt very uncomfortable and uneasy staying in the room but had no option as I was travelling with my work (in health service), and by the time I realised the state of the room it was too late to move on. I understand that there are issues with staffing, but if you can't provide basic cleanliness you shouldn't be providing accommodation. The one star is for the reception staff- very friendly and welcoming.

Wasn’t too sure what to expect, but pleasantly surprised by a nicely decorated & very clean room. Great bathroom, comfy bed. Room already equipped with hairdryer, basic utensils, plates etc. even had a pod style coffee maker & fresh milk from Tilba on request was a really nice touch. The motel is pet friendly & rooms open straight onto a patio area adjacent the lush grassy area of the pool area, making it super easy for your dog to relieve themselves. There were dogs tethered or caged outside on the patio too. Very central to shops. Overall I would recommend this hotel & especially if you are traveling with your dog. Friendly staff, hospitable & relaxing environment.

I was delighted with my room (14, upstairs) at the Whale Motor Inn. Yes, there was a definite "retro" feel, but in a way that pleased me, with lots of evidence of recent improvements: bright, bold colours, good carpets, attractive bed linens and furnishings, coffee pods, a bottle of local milk, plenty of lighting, an attractive modern bathroom, absolutely spotless, with a great shower. There was a sense of real style and comfort. And that's to say nothing of the great view from my balcony.

We stayed 3 nights in a "suite" and OK it had a separate BR and a lounge area but it is very tired. The dark color scheme did not help. Spider webs and other detritus indicated a very poor cleaning regime.
It is just not worth the money and is well and truly outdated.
They have a new Chinese Restaurant. Why will this be a "goer" when all the other Chinese restaurants have only 2 or 3 covers on midweek nights is beyond me.

While the upstairs suites in the Whale Inn have fabulous views over Narooma the property itself is very tired and needs significant maintenance, care and attention. The rooms, while clean and well apointed are very dated and dark and need modernising. The property had a rating of 9.2 and I feel, now having stayed there that this was very generous and misleading. Restaurant food and service was good.
