Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in the Honeymoon Cottage for 3 nights. No-one at Reception when we arrived and no answer on phone, so we had to search the park to get assistance. Friendly and courteous staff but obviously understaffed. The other white cottages were in the process of being refurbished. Our cottage was in a great location overlooking the beach but was in need of maintenance. There was no blind/curtains on the front doorway so anyone outside could see right into the bathroom. It should not have been rented until refurbished! Toiletries were not sufficient for a three night stay. No tissues or paper towels . Only 2 tea bags - no decaf. This was not the high standard that you expect from the Merivale Group.

What a great spot. Libby n Lily on reception were just lovely as were the ground staff. We had e-bikes so getting around was easy. So many great places to ride to - into town, the marina, along the golf course to the cemetery (great views)

Faboulous, newly renovated bungalows , great view and very friendly and helpful staff. The park is small and very well kept, they started to renovate all the bungalows and the one we stayed (n.1) in was is perfect conditions, very comfortable , spacious and well equipped for a family of 5 and had a spectacular view

The service is very ordinary and the cabin looks tired. There was no Wi-Fi from day one, when we reported the issue, we were told it would take up to 48 hours to get an answer as why, and no communication from the property in any way afterwards, I followed up on the 3rd day and was told it should be available the next day, which didn’t happen, and on the 4th day I went and followed it up again, this time I was told the issue couldn’t be resolved, would it be reasonable to at least to keep us updated rather than having us kept going to the reception and looking for an answer? Especially every visit to the reception seemed to be a punt whether the door would be open and anyone would be there. We reported the globe outside the cabin didn’t work, it still wasn’t working when we checked out 5 days later, although I reminded them of the issue in between. The shower curtain was that long and the bottom of it takes up more than half of the shower base. We couldn’t use the door of the main bedroom which is next to the bed, because there was absolutely no room for it to swing open or shut. When I questioned the manager the “Transaction Fee” on the emailed receipt, I was told it was for using credit card, although there wasn’t any notification and not a word was given to me when the face to face transaction occurred, she assured me it’s for all transactions for everyone uses credit card, despite the fact that I know there was a transaction didn’t have such charge.

Amenities were beyond old and shabby. They were not cleaned while we were there for 2 nights. Our site was Road base but was more mess than it was worth. Camp kitchen was very basic. A kettle on a bench outside the laundry. Urgent upgrades needed Way too expensive for the poor facilities

I wanted to stay somewhere that was quiet and dog friendly as there is nothing better than taking your pup away with you when there are beaches nearby. Unfortunately thou the pictures on this property were very misleading. I was checked into a dog friendly villa accommodation which was run down and dirty. The shower sprayed water in all directions and the bathroom smelt like the septic tank needed draining. The heater/air conditioner was for the 1980s and was definitely not up to the job of trying to keep us warm. The sheets on the bed were both stained and dirty (old and new dirt). The cockroach baits in the corner were both a risk to my pup and did nothing to alleviate the cockroaches running about. By the end of our 2 night stay there was a collection of cockroaches on the floor. The couch was broken and very uncomfortable, the lino floor ripped with holes in it and a trip hazard. The old school broken alarm clock in the wall with the alien like symbols was off putting in the middle of the night as I couldn't sleep with the bed lumpy and smelly. I should of read the reviews before I went but booked based on photos as I was in a hurry and it's difficult at the best of times to get dog friendly accommodation. If I could of I would of left after my first nights stay but couldn't find any where else to go, sleeping in our car would of been better than this.

Great location & views The other reviews are correct with their negative feedback. Leaking taps, light bulbs not working, no tea towel or Chux We had a group of 4 cabins and all had similar issues (some were lucky & got a tea towel) Fire blankets were out of date. Provided feedback of maintenance issues via email after we left asking management to call me. Still waiting for the call.

Visited with a group of 12 for the Oyster Festival (which was great!). Took a group of the Paradise cabins and while the position is great, being above the beach, and facilities were all working the cabins are showing their age. All had maintenance issues with non-working lights, leaking taps and fire safety gear not having been checked - although the smoke detectors functioned. There are other cabin styles which may be in better nick but for the price the Paradise cabins are dodgy.

I stayed for 6 days over Easter with a large group of 60 campers, something we have done for about 35 years. I have to say this was one of the worst experiences of this park I have ever had. It felt like we did not matter. There are two amenities blocks which we not cleaned the whole time we were there, blocked showers for two days, dripping taps and shower heads, shower heads that didnt stay up plus filthy sinks. In the mens block a toilet was blocked and unusable plus a urinal which didnt work. The smell was pretty bad. Lights also didnt come on in one block at all at night posing a safety risk while the other block's lights came on about 7o'clock, rendering complete darkness in these facilities for a couple of hours. When approached with these issues the first time only the shower was unblocked. Approached a second time to rectify the problem I was told management had not been told and it would be seen to. The toilets were cleaned that day but nothing else was fixed at all, in fact the manager proceeded to padlock one of the amenities shut saying "someone complained about the smell" so his solution was to stop anyone using it even though it was not the block with the problem. The whole park looked unkempt, overgrown shrubs, weed infested gardens, broken lights and clothes lines with only half the lines available, the rest were missing or hanging dangerously posing a tripping hazard. Hardly any staff were sighted doing any maintenance at all. The only saving grace for the place is the amazing position overlooking the beach but still that is not justification to charge high prices for mediocre facilities and lack of respect towards your visitors

Avoid at all costs unless you are homeless and have no other option. Very sad to see this amazing location go to the dogs. Not sure if I just drive into a refuse dump or a caravan park. Overgrown, dumped rubbish, weeds, uneven powered sites, camp kitchen is a total disgrace. Had booked for 4 nights but manager kindly refunded our money saying it’s a regular occurrence when people arrive now and refuse to stay once they see the condition.
