Disappointing accomodation . What we didn’t realise was that some rooms are really old while others refreshed and modern . We had an old room and while the bed was comfortable our bathroom had a very noisy concertina door , was tiny and and stains in the sink . The walls are thin and we could hear the people next door who talked and laughed long into the night . Dinner however in the dining room was amazing and dining service fantastic

Stayed here for a wedding. Was pretty cold outside, however warm inside and there were plenty of blankets to keep us even warmer at night. A lot of people stay here for the many weddings hosted in the Southern Highlands, so there sometimes can be a bit of a party atmosphere (the management were quick to stamp out the parties). We stayed at the room at the top of the stairs, which can be very noisy due to foot traffic and creaky floorboards. Travelled October 2018

Booked a colleague in for an overnight stay. He was upgraded to one of the renovated rooms - very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful
Didn't have any meals, but the coffee was great!
Still some work to be done but it's a beautiful location and recommended

Don’t stay here. Booked 2 nights well in advance and room was covered in mould. When we alerted staff they didn’t offer an alternative and we had to remain in a room that was a health hazard. When checking out they offered $30 off the price… very embarrassing

Plastic hanging in the hallway and a bollard to stop guests wandering into the wing being refurbished were the first sign that work was not completed. We were in the newly renovated family room however unfortunately the air conditioning ie heating hadn’t been connected. Two small fan heaters were brought however we couldn’t sleep with them running. Also, although there were two large screen tvs in each bedroom, there was only one remote so there was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing when channels or volume was to be changed. Hallways and stairs needed cleaning at 3pm in the afternoon. Lovely location but standards need to be lifted to meet potential and very expensive for what was provided.

Dormie House is a great old building, chock a block full of character abutting a quality golf course.
The addition of the new greenside balcony only adds to the facility.
Rooms are being renovated; it continues to improve.
“Sunday Roast” looked great on a winter’s day.
The staff couldn’t have done more to assist our stay.

The rooms are part way through a renovation program, our room was one of the larger "original" options, it was great.
When booking ask, some of the original rooms may be too small for some, the (very) reasonable pricing reflects this.
There are options here that "should" satisfy anyone, if you really need something brand new (bereft of character) stay somewhere else.

There are some very good features of Dormie House: The views of the golf course from some places within the building, the setting, its proximity to the main street (it is within walking distance for many people) and the polite staff. The room servicing was very good. The place is old and at this time would be well served either by refurbishing it to its proper state as it was when built, or modernising. We stayed 3 nights and for the first 2 had to park outside the grounds as the parking area seemed too small for the number of guests. This was not a major problem for us but for anyone with heavy things to carry it may be difficult. In the room was a king bed which was very comfortable, a chair, and some latterly fitted and not very good cupboards. TV and fridge were in one side of the cupboard. Nothing in the fridge. The bathroom was quite small, though usable and the sink was very old and worn - easy and relatively inexpensive to rectify. None of these things would usually detract too much if the price were sensible. We had booked a decent number of weeks prior so I did not expect to be hit with a very large rise (a small one perhaps, though really there is no argument for it) in the tariff because it happened to be Easter. Then an extra fee for using a Visa card... how outdated, a little like the building. It could all be so much better with just a little little thought and refurbishment.

Dirty room. Soiled carpets, fungus on shower, bathroom taps, filthy mini fridge…awfully disgusting room (no. 1). Thankfully bedding was clean. Reception staff absolutely appalling and unhelpful. After hours number rang out to a voicemail. Tired and depressing place, generally. Way too expensive for what it offers. Would’ve been a much nicer place in its heyday.

Check what room you are booking as the ones we got were no better than a pub! Not all of the rooms are refurbished and the amenities are not great.

Meal was good but the property is over a kilometre out of town so there are not many options for alternative meal venues.

Writing this as noise from a massive fan unit outside our room and floodlights on the adjacent eaves produced a sleepless night. This venue has ruined our weekend. $230 poorer a nightmare stay was the final insult. I would never stay here again.
