Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Staff were welcoming and helpful. Bed was comfortable and en suite was roomy.

The bedroom was extremely small with little room to move around the bed, especially with luggage on the floor. There was no provision of hanging space for clothes and no towel rails in the en suite. The window in our room was in poor repair with rotted and broken timber frame. Internal stair access to the rooms included one damaged step. The external fire stair which was only access early morning was badly rusted, dirty and rubbish was lying about.

I thought this place was closed for years for renovations. Now it's just as filthy in the main bar and gets all the people that even the Moss Vale Hotel is trying to avoid. The front lounge looks great and has the old stained glass but no one uses it. Don't know if maybe it's a cheaper pub because they made sure not to show me the price of beer when I paid, which is always dodgy.

Positive was that you could check in quite late.
Directions to get into the building were tricky.
We took two rooms.
My room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke and was right next to the air conditioning compressor and bottle shop. Staff couldn't do anything.
The other room was good.
Shared bathrooms should have had a his/hers.
Aircon and TV worked well
Rooms were physically clean and beds were comfortable.
Would have been good to give us spare blankets so we didn't need to have the aircon on at night.

My wife and I had dinner here while staying in Bowral. The Argyle was recommended by a guy playing cricket who I chatted with at the Bradman cricket museum.
Beers were cold and steaks were excellent and both cooked the way we liked.
Can’t ask for anything more.

This would have to be the worst night I’ve experienced in a hotel.
Firstly, what was advertised wasn’t available. There were no tea/coffee making facilities and the wi-fi was next to non existent. The mattress was uncomfortable to say the least.
There was no floor mat/towel or shower curtain, as such water spilled out on the floor which was quite dangerous.
Now the worst:- what sounded like young girls ran up and down the corridor banging on one of the doors yelling out obviously to get someone out of bed. This went on from 1.45 to around 3.00 am.
Absolutely disgraceful.

The beer was ice cold, the parmi was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. Well priced, and in a great location with tonnes of atmosphere. Do yourself a favour and check it out... especially if you're hungry.

Accomodation is basic, clean and comfortable, very nice bed for this level of place. Wifi and smart TV very much appreciated, great to have access to Netflix. Shared facilities were clean and there are enough bathrooms to easily cater for the number of rooms. Staff were welcoming and helpful. And I had an excellent , reasonably priced steak down in the pub. All around a very good experience.

Hi. thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy day to post a review. So glad you enjoyed the pub! We have recently renovated the rooms and we chose AH Beard beds. We have been very happy with this. It is often a surprise that a pub has such nice beds. Good to hear the feedback on the WiFi and Smart TV. So many people have their own accounts now, so you can watch your shows wherever you are. Thanks for popping downstairs for a steak, also!

We stayed here last weekend. The front of house staff were friendly and the bar and food area were very nice. Unfortunately that's where it ends. Similar comments to the previous unhappy guest. Toilets without locks, the bathrooms are being renovated, but not one is finished. Our room was over the bottle shop and cool room. Zero sleep, considered leaving in the early AM. Worst night sleep in ages.

A suggestion for the owner would be to sleep in over the bottle shop for one night to see/hear the issues. A shame this has potential.

The food and staff were great. The room left a lot to be desired. When we walked in, it smelt like the overflow from a septic. Bathroom needs renovating. Not worth the $150 we paid.
We were booked in for our return trip but have cancelled and booked elsewhere.

I was booked into this hotel by a friend and when I arrived the front entrance was closed - due to COVID - which is understandable. I had to enter to hotel via the bottle shop. Outside the front entrance there was dried vomit on the floor. On entering my room it was tiny and looked ok at first glance; but the toilets - shared and also the shower was a shared arrangement. The toilet seats on all 3 of the toilets I checked came off, there was no toilet paper in the toilets, no soap or any bathing products provided and the shower had mould around the bottom. The lock on one public shower was broken so one couldn't shower without the concern that someone would enter while using.
Shocking that this hotel charges for accommodation! They should no be allowed to have paying guests. To top it all off the parking outside was in a parking spot for the take away bottle shop and the hotel was open to 2am - so no sleep would be guaranteed. Not a safe place to park your car if you value it that is!!
In summary - absolutely disgusting and insulting that they could charge for such a dump!!

I'm very sorry you have had this experience, however in our defence the shared facilities of our rooms are clearly noted on our website, and bathing products are not currently supplied which is also made clear on our website. Our rooms and four of the five bathrooms have recently been renovated. The pub is very quiet from about 10pm and the car park is floodlit and covered by full CCTV.
