Very comfy bed/pillows and clean facilities. We stayed in a room which had a shared bathroom and had no issues with any waiting for facilities - there was 3 toilets and 2 showers available, all of which were newly renovated and clean. The room was very big and had a bar fridge and tv. The walls/doors are thin however so noise does travel easily. We were in an end room and the person next door was snoring loudly. The dinner in the restaurant downstairs was very good. There is no lift, so it could be a few flights of stairs to your room depending on what level.

Late check in and an early check out this place for what its worth is excellent. Only about 100$ a night which was the cheapest around here. The room as it should be small and compact was clean and edgy with a beautifull painting in the room and a very spacious shower. Old appliances but the wall spilt system looks newish and easy to get going, the bed even has a heated blanket (they understand how cold it can get in the rooms) Actually a really lovely place to stay.

Tried the Bistro over the Easter weekend. Made a booking - the tables were all occupied, despite the Reserved sign on our table. A hastily improvised table used by the kids was eventually prepared. Ordered a glass of wine at the bar - they charged for a bottle. When I queried it later, the bar staff said they noticed I was overcharged at the time but did not rectify it until I made the query?! The service was slow, the helpings were meagre and not up to standard - and the weekend surcharge (despite being a Sat.) was excessive. As a local I will not be back.

We visited the bistro after reading great reviews. The range of meals available was great. Having some dishes available in two sizes is also a great idea. Also good to see local beers on tap and local wines available. A great addition to Mittagong.

Went to the pub whilst in town for work. Owner was friendly and attentive, happy to have a chat to customers, the way a pub should be but not many like this anymore. Mexican food was excellent, very tasty.

The Mittagong Hotel has been in the area for years and popular amongst locals, and with its new renovations, we’re sure it will not only see the locals returning in droves, but also those out of area for a destination visit.
It’s approximately 1.5 hours drive from Sydney, close to Bowral and has central location in Mittagong near the lake and town shops. If you’re planning on being in the Southern Highlands for an event, tourism, or just passing through, we can recommend a night at the Mittagong Hotel, perfect for boutique stay.
The upstairs levels of accommodation provide you with an en suite and non en suite accommodation options. There’s also a King room with a kitchenette. We absolutely love their renovations and styling. An olive green and cream hue palette, the paint and bedding colouring are complementary. They’ve kept the heritage artistic features, fireplaces, cornices on the roofs, but modernised the rooms. Rooms have Smart TV’s, POD coffee making facilities, a kettle, hairdryer and multiple charging ports. We found the beds and pillows are honestly the most comfortable we’ve experienced in a long time, and plush would be the best way to describe them.
There are multiple drinking and dining spaces; with tables and tvs near the bar, a spacious and light filled dining room and also open courtyard area out the back.
We shared a number of the menu items, from the specials board, as well as entrees, mains and pizza.
We began with two raw fish dishes; the Kingfish Sashimi, sitting atop yoghurt with sriracha, lime and avocado (gf) and also the cured Salmon with Coconut, jalapeno and coriander (gf). Both dishes were beautifully flavoured and a good spice kick to them.
The pumpkin & ricotta rotolo is a dish encompassing 3 large pasta pieces, filled with pumpkin and ricotta, and drizzled with a mix of mushroom, burnt butter, balsamic, hazelnut and feta. A great option for vegetarians and also easy to divvy up and share.
For those that like pork, the roasted pork belly was amazing. Cooked perfectly, the soft pork topped with a crunchy skin and served with a light and refreshing fennel and pickled onion salad, and complemented with a fish sauce caramel (gf, df).
The burrata was lovely and creamy, and perfect to have with the chargrilled toast. We think all of these entrees work really well on their menu.
In addition we shared a few of the mains and they were all so good, it’s hard to pick a favourite.
The hand cut pappardelle was mixed with ocean caught prawns, broccolini, porcini mushroom, chilli, soybean and coconut and it’s like nothing we’ve had before; it was the texture and quality of an Italian pasta, but flavoured similar to a red curry. We just kept going back for more! Wow!
The two protein dishes were from their specials menu; the, served pink in the centre as it should, with a lovely mix of roasted vegetables including pumpkin, asparagus, peas, parsnip
The roasted lamb loin came with a super spicy eggplant and tomato fondue, potato gratin, romesco sauce, asparagus and peas and worked really well having this and a side of Broccolini which was chargrilled and seasoned with ponzu, fried garlic, chilli and coriander (gf,df).
Finishing off the spread, we just had to have a pizza and you MUST order the potato & truffle. A beautiful light truffle and garlic flavour and scent and made with a quality cheese that kept us wanting more!
The menu is also family friendly, with a few kiddie food options too.
We are glad there was a good group of us so we could share much of the menu and try as much as possible. The food at Mittagong Hotel is not what you’d expect from traditional pub fare; the chefs have elevated the food next level. Foodie aficionados, get there soon!
You can also pop in just for a drink with a menu features beers and wines, many from local wineries and brewers!

This was our second sleep over here and must admit it was just as perfect. We stayed in room without ensuite this time and loved it. Room was huge, clean and great bed. Dinner was fantastic AGAIN, and got introduced to some delicious Vodka. Thank you to the lovely little lady who fed us so well and my Vodka bartender....we'll be back 😉

Stopped in for the first time, on Saturday, nice friendly greeting. The menu was all mexican, wasvhappy with that. Chose a mexican burger, great to see the meat patty was hone made and too a mild spice, however there was a chilli bar with loads of alternate temperatures. They were getting ready for a big night, a great outdoor area as well.

A pub that is old, has enormous character and for one night provided a clean place to sleep. Not flash, very old and shabby, but clean. I have spent many a night in way flashier places that were nowhere near as clean. Some hiltons are a disgrace. So the Mittagong hotel is well worth it.
