Detailed Reviews
My wife and i recently returned from a road trip that included Wagga Wagga, Echuca, Bendigo, Ballarat, Adelaide, Broken Hill, Cobar and Dubbo.
Rather than drive straight home from Dubbo, we opted for an overnight stay at the Golden Fleece Motor Inn. What a brilliant idea! This little motel in Merriwa is modern, clean, spacious , well planned and finished with stylish cushions and throws.
Our room was fully en-suited and included a large 2 Door Fridge, Split Cycle Air Conditioned, a Ceiling Fan, Large TV/ DVD Combos, Computer bench, and full tea/coffee making facilities.
But there are thoughtful little extras that stand this motel apart . These include: 3 luggage /suitcase stands instead of the usual one in most motels/hotels; motion activated small lights above the door keyhole to assist entry at night; small solar lighting on the external stairs; and ample near room parking.
While this motel doe not offer meals, it is conveniently located and just a short walk to breakfast /lunch cafes and to the RSL or Royal Hotel which both offer a lovely evening meal at a reasonable price. There is also a BBQ area on site.
We have confidence in recommending this motel to anyone driving along the Golden Highway or just out for a rural weekend or mid week escape.

This is a wonderful place to check in. Very over enthusiastic receptionist without a volume control, helpful & eager to please. Rooms are large, clean & well appointed. Bathroom clean, plenty of hot water with all toiletries supplied. Very nice veranda running along the front. It was raining when we arrived and when we left, the veranda was great to be able to dewater before entering. We were traveling through and this is a terrific spot to overnight. No photos, too wet & we loaded the room up too quick. Aircon works a treat. 👍👍👍

We stayed here on our road trip to and from Dubbo, The room was spotless and had everything you would need for an overnight stay, even a full fridge. It was very roomy, had a microwave, dishes & cutlery which you don't get in a lot of motels. The bathroom was also large & well stocked. Pam the owner was very friendly and obliging. We would have no hesitation at stopping here again if we were in the area.

+1
I’m so impressed. Not only are the beds comfortable and have gorgeous quality linen but it’s the little things that have been included for our comfort; a full sized fridge, microwave, enough crockery, cutlery etc so you can heat up a meal and eat in if your tired. Power points beside the beds, reading lights, luggage racks, a fold up table. This accommodation has ticked all the boxes for me. Pam also has an immaculate heritage B&B with shared bathroom option and family rooms. Eating out is walking distance and the public pool is next door, making that a nice option for children.

Great accommodation in the motel units. Very comfortable.
We enjoyed a great night in Merriwa and Pam is a great hostess. Undercover parking for our bikes was great when some bad weather blew through.

Found this new inn while traveling from Port Macquarie to Broken Hill. Excellent accommodation, well considered extras like disposable razors, biscuits, sealed sterilized toilet. Tastefully furnished and did I mention electric blankets

We had an extremely pleasant stay at Pam’s motel, Merriwa Golden Fleece Motor Inn.
When we arrived Pam took me in and showed me everything was. There were 2 sets of crockery and cutlery. Pam also told me the hotel opposite, and the club down the road, did take away meals.
We had the disabled room, as my husband is almost totally blind, and uses a walker at all times. There was plenty of space for him to move around easily.
The bathroom with the large shower area was the best we’ve ever had. There are grills around the whole shower space which drained all of the water away. In the past the water has spread all over the bathroom floor.
Thank you Pam for a wonderfully clean, spacious, welcoming room.

Pam who own the motel was such a beautiful lady very helpful with everything. Big room and hot showers and you could make your meals in the kitchen which had everything you need to cook your breakfast or dinner even. Had air conditioning and electric blanket if you need it. And just a very short walk to the rsl or the pub for meals too.

You can tell when someone has a passion for their business. The moment you meet Pam, you know this Motor Inn means the world to her and she goes out of her way to make your stay faultless. Tips on where to eat, what to do, what to see...she makes you feel like you're her personal project for the duration of your visit. We didn't plan to stay in Merriwa. We rang the Inn after getting the cold shoulder from a motel in Dunedoo and the effervescent Pam made us feel we would be welcomed like family! Immaculately clean, very comfortable and that touch of old-fashioned hospitality that you rarely find today.

The Golden Fleece Motor Inn is located right in the middle of Merriwa and thus couldn’t be more convenient. The rooms in the motel section are just over a year old and thus are very spacious, clean and well equipped.
As others have mentioned, Pam the host couldn’t have been more enthusiastic and helpful.
This motel is a very comfortable place for a night or two in Merriwa.
