Last minute booking. Came for a few nights and stayed a week!! Situated on the hill into Merimbula the Kingfisher Motel has the most incredible view’s overlooking the town, ocean and tree line that offer abundance in beautiful birdlife Retro style accommodation with kitchenette, microwave and all you need, very clean and spacious…. Did I mention the balcony and that view! Great hosts! Janine and Baron were amazing! So welcoming they really made us feel at home. With information on what to do, where to go, maps to boot. We were even given a complimentary bottle of champagne 🍾 New year’s eve with some muffins. Janine even gave us lemons from the tree and some home grown eggs, seriously beautiful real people who clearly love what they do
We will definitely stay again

We chose the Kingfisher on the basis of the previous reviews, all of which turned out to be accurate. The owners are charming, helpful and live on site, so they make themselves available and give the place a cheerful, bustling look. The rooms are basic, but clean and bright. The views, including the abundant birdlife and the sheep, are stunning, and breakfast on the balcony watching the sunrise, breathtaking. Highly recommended.

A older style motel, but very clean and comfortable, everything you need. A well-equipped room with a 2 seater lounge, microwave, cutlery, iron and ironing board etc. There's a balcony with a table and chairs, looking out to a spectacular view of Merimbula and it's waterways. In the morning you get visited by Kookaburras, parakeets and cockies. The owner is lovely and very helpful. Highly recommended, and a very pleasant motel to stay in.

What an amazing Motel, the view from the balcony is exceptional. Staff very friendly and nothing is a bother. Big room with a big balcony overlooking the sea. Close to shops and restaurants. Very clean, comfortable bed, amazing location. Loved watching the birds while sitting at the table next to a very big picture window. Just amazing

Stayed here close to New Year and was wonderfully surprised. Beautiful outlook over Merimbula, nice and quiet location, room was clean and welcoming. Had to leave early due to border closure, and Janine kindly waived the extra day that we couldn't stay, very understanding and a fantastic host.

5 stars all the way. The Kingfisher is delightful. Views, local wildlife and beautifully maintained. The best part is the hosts, so welcoming and warm. A charming place and relaxing stay. Can’t wait to come back.

Were booked into the Kingfisher by our daughter and son-in-law for two nights stay. Were very impressed by the room, its comfort and cleanliness. The view was outstanding and the sunrise on each morning of the stay was picturesque. The motel is three star with an outstanding view. We invited our daughter, son-in-law and 7 year old grandson to have a light lunch with us and enjoy the great view and have a dip in the pool with the grandson. Then came the BUT..... The self proclaimed owner of the motel whilst watering the garden as we walked to the pool asked if were with 'the band' - we said no we were guests of the motel and were going to take a dip in the pool. Sorry was the response, the pool is closed and we do not accommodate children at the motel. The owner took on a very condescending approach to the presence of the 7 year old and our other guests suggesting we should try the beach or the Pambula Swimming facility (which he made clear he had made a considerable donation to). I have since visited your website and noted the facility was not suitable for children or infants and if I was aware of that I would have respected your right to not accommodate children or infants. Shame the stay was blighted by the such a condescending approach to guests!! Maybe the advertising sign at the entry should alert prospective guests that children are not welcomed. That may save any misunderstanding, discomfort or embarrassment for others that we experienced.

We stayed at the Kingfisher Motel recently and we don't regret it for a moment. We arrived slightly earlier than planned and our room wasn't ready. No problem! They gave us a free upgrade to the best room at the motel! It's service like that which will have us happily return next time we are in Merimbula. The room was very spacious and had all the amenities than anyone would need. Bed was super comfy and you can watch the sun rise over the harbour without getting out of bed, if that's your choice. We were also entertained by the huge amount of birds that can be observed feeding below the private balcony while taking in the views over Merimbula at the same time. You can get the same views of the Merimbula and the bird feeding from every room in the motel. Owners were terrific and went out of their way to point out dining options and things to do while staying in the great beachside town.

We took the south coast road for our drive back to sydney from melbourne and were looking for a nice place to stop over for a night to rest. I was a bit hesitant at first coz theres only 1 review here for this motel but then this one of the affordable one and glad to give it a shot. Merimbula is a nice small seaside town with a beautiful bay. Was pleasantly welcomed upon arrival with very friendly receptionist. Amazed to find numerous numbers of cockatoos, lorikeets, and some other species of birds and parrots just outside our room. and with great views of the sunset and sunrise from the rooms balcony over looking the sea. I am more impressed to find the simple toilet is very clean, maybe its newly renovated coz could not find a single grime at all. All in all its a clean simple place to rest for a night with a great view to greet you with amazing sunrise and sunset. and yeah RSL is the best place to eat in this town and enjoy a pokie at the casino after a great meal hehe

We were met by the owners with warmth and generosity. The room was light and airy and spotlessly clean. Great facilities. Spectacular views from the private balcony with a host of Aussie wildlife to enjoy as far as the eye can see. This was a personally difficult trip for our family but we were made to feel at home and nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful motel. Can’t wait to return to the Kingfisher 🤗
