Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked for 5 nights of resort peace and relaxation! Arrived at 4.0pm on a Tuesday to see a resort foreman overseeing some tradies banging/hammering and drilling at the villas next door extracting and replacing wall insulation .Was told 'they will finish soon''..This went on for 3 days from 8.0am until 4.0 pm! On the friday I asked the foreman about the noise and his response was ' No worries , they don't work at the weekend'!!! Whilst we accept maintenance must happen ,it should be that the Resort contact guests prior to their arrival advising them of the 'hazard' and offering them -/A discount or shift to another villa or re -book ...?? Absolutely POOR customer care when we paid over $300 per night for a relaxing/peaceful stay! Greed wins again we guess..Secondly ,Our A/C went off at 3.00am .When reporting it reception said 'quote'' Well ,the units are OLD and they overheat!!''..The AC was fixed and the problem re occurred the next evening also.Combine that with a leaking toilet causing the Cysten to come on and off all night!..Yes you have the picture ..And of course reception said 'wE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY COMPLAINTS FROM THAT UNIT BEFORE'!!!!..Anyway ,we are in our late sixties ,well travelled and not grizzlers ,but fair dinkum ,this 'holiday' is up there with ' very poor experiences and a huge disappointment .!

It seems that the quality of the rooms is very different. Ours was more a one star than a three star rating. Renovations are overdue!! Furniture was very used and window cannot be closed as one handle broke probably already years ago… Next time we will go to a motel and safe $500

Thanks, Coast Resort Merimbula, for a great accommodation experience. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from a two bedroom unit to a three bedroom unit - which was perfect for us. Everything we needed, plus a perfect location - just across from the beach. Also, the couple of things we rang reception about (Foxtel not working properly, and a problem with the blinds in one room) were promptly attended to. Sue, from Reception, was one of the friendliest, happiest staff member I've ever come across. We would certainly not consider anywhere else next time we go to Merimbula.

If you are looking for a great self-contained apartment in Merimbula then you needn’t bother looking anywhere else. The apartments themselves are very well appointed and maintained, as are the shared facilities. The location is perfect -close to the beach and town.

Overall this is a lovely apartment with a great view over the water. It has every facility needed and is comfortably appointed. However, first impressions are very important to me and to walk through the back gate to a weedy garden and a back door that is barely functional was disappointing. Other things in need of maintenance are the dishwasher, the general paintwork and the cobwebs between the verandah floor and the perspex/glass wall on the balcony. Also, for $240 a night, I would expect to have a shower with decent flow, not one requiring you to move around to get wet. Mostly it felt clean but some dirty dishes and glasses and dirty exhaust fans suggest a poor cleaning regime in general. I find it interesting that when renting holiday accommodation like this, the tenant has to agree to legal documents promising to not damage anything and agree to a range of officious rules and consequences but there is no requirement for the owners or managers to offer a level of comfort or maintenance consistent with the asking price. We have all the responsibility but very few rights. There are so many places to stay in Merimbula with great views. Next time we'll try somewhere else.

Stayed 3 days during the kids holidays. The accomodation as very comfortable. Suitable for kids, pool onsite or just 5 minutes walk to the beach. High end applicances to cook or just 8 minutes walk to the town centre for restaurants. Highly recommended.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which was fully contained with a full sized kitchen, separate laundry with washer and dryer and a spacious living area. The property has two pools, is directly across from the beach and walking distance from the town centre. There was a great cafe serving breakfast / lunch / great coffee nearby (Cranky Cafe) A relaxing stay in a clean apartment which appears to be recently refurnished. Just a note, the rooms are not serviced after you check in.

We stayed for 10 nights over the New Years holiday period. We were extended family and had 4 units booked in total. We were obviously the unlucky ones. The unit condition and furniture was terrible. The paint condition (especially upstairs) was dirty, scuffed and in urgent need of a re-paint. The furniture was in poor condition, showing obvious signs of wear and tear, and in need of replacement. Cleaning (especially the bed underlays) were dirty and yellow. These units are not cheap, and we expected better. The other units in our group were much better, although we paid the same price as exactly the same type of unit next door. The location and facilities of the resort are great. No arguments there. Now, the management. Poor to say the best. We let the ladies in the office know our comments on check out, and were told that units are privately owned, and that they have no control of this. We fully understand how letting pools work, and this is rubbish. If management are doing their job correctly, they need to advise unit owners, and if they feel as though a unit is not up to standard, it should be removed from the letting pool, and not charge guest several hundred dollars a night for an average unit. If management think this unit is acceptable, then that's just scary. The lady on the counter pretty much fobbed us off and told us to email the manager. We did that a few days after we checked out. We waited 8 days with no response. We emailed with a follow up, and again no reply. After waiting another 6 days we called and spoke to the manager. He said he hadn't look at the email, and asked for a summary of our complaint. I gave him a brief run down, and said its best he reads the email, and then get back to us. He ask what we want him to do about it, and what we wanted. We said, its not up to us to ask, I suggest you read our email and come back to us with what you think is fair. Its now another 12 days passed, with no reply email, no return phone call. If this is how management deal with customer service, and guest feedback, it will be the last time we return. Beware if you you own a unit here, as management don't seem to care too much about customer feedback. Same goes if your thinking about a future stay.
