This was a very basic motel room which was comfortable and clean and was good value for the money paid. There is nowhere on site to eat so you have to go into Town, which is only a very short walk. The one tip I would give other potential guests is to ask for a room that is away from the main area as there is little, or no privacy unless you close the curtains, due to the other guests walking past the room. If you are not planning on staying long or paying too much, then this is an ideal place for a stopover.

This motel is a humbling experience as it is as basic as is imaginable. We could see a $30 per night cheaper rate on the internet which they matched for us. There is no longer a pool but a hole in the ground filled with rubbish.
The shower was really quite good! The bathroom is quite old and damp though. Bring your own towels and pillows. Would be hard to sleep in hot weather
We found friendly service in the office.

Is a good budget motel that probably needs some work on it but you get what you pay for. Bathroom appeared tired and old but functional and provided a good hot shower. Bed was comfortable but unfortunately the room walls are very thin so you hear what your neighbours are taking about and we were also unlucky to have a person next to our room who snored the whole night which didn’t make it for a pleasant night. Overall if looking for somewhere cheap and you are a heavy sleeper give the place a go, it just wasn’t for us.

Stayed at the Merimbula Gardens overnight during a weeknight ,

Premises was generally pretty clean , rooms are basic but generally pretty clean.

Walls are thin and ended up being a major problem for the evening. The motel was not full however the management decided to place everyone in the rooms side by side instead of spacing guests out throughout the entire motel complex. Unfortunately had a rather drug affected group of 3 persons inhabit the room next wo us whom stayed up all night long with the TV loud , slamming their door open and shut and yelling all night long. Got zero sleep , i know this isnt the fault of the motel management , however it should be pointed out the walls are very thin and you will hear your neighbours.

Otherwise it was clean and close to town and had a view of the bay and ocean to the distance in the room we were in.

Place is shabby and dirty, smoke alarm had no battery (so was inoperational which is illegal) and it was well-over-priced. And the incredibly unprofessional owner, sporting an offensive sexist t-shirt to match the highly offensive sexist and juvenile stickers on his ute parked right outside reception where you could not help but see them, could not care less. Could not even get decent night's sleep as his kids/friends, sitting outside smoking and coughing and yakking, kept us awake.

We stayed here last Saturday night. The owners were very helpful, friendly and happy ((maybe that was something to do with NZ winning the rugby union the night before haha).
The room was a basic motel room but was spotlessly clean with clean, crisp white sheets. We both enjoyed a good nights sleep.
We would definitely stay here again. It was very good value without spending a fortune.

I was there from the 29th March for two nights, the rooms were really small, you could hear a lot of noise as in people talking and noise coming from your neighbours next to you.
I was a little peeved off as the parking to this hotel was quiet small and you were not specifically allocated a spot either as most times I had to fight with other stayers to move there cars and park them straight so we could all get to park at least near our room.
There was no iron or ironing board in the rooms. Place was very old. I would not stay there again. For $110 per night I have stayed in much more modern hotel/motels.

Budget Motel usually means 1970s or 1980s building with various attempts to "modernise".
That appears to be the case with this Motel, unfortunately they have not achieved modern means of heating or cooling. The Electric Strip Heater above the bed might be effective but the Ceiling Fan although cooling was too noisy for a person to sleep.
Proprietors of these old Motels need to determine when to progressively gut the rooms and slip into the 21st century with modern facilities rather than milk the maximum profit.
They should also spend a night in each room to determine where cleaning and repairs are necessary.
My overnight room was quite ordinary and I would not like to stay in it if the ambient temperature was 40 degrees.
Yes you get what you pay for.

So i made a last minute decision to take the coast road from Sydney back to Melbourne and thought i'd give www.wotif.com.au a try to book some accomodation. Being the summer school holidays nearly everything was taken but i got the Merimbula Gardens Motel for 1 night.
This is your typical budget, country town hotel/motel so don't have high hopes.
The lady at reception was friendly but my only interaction with her was checking in and out which was very quick.
I didn't have a look to see if there were any facilities such as a pool and just dumped my gear and went out to have a look around the quaint town that was overrun with tourists.
The room was basic but roomy~ish but didn't have airconditioning (luckily the room didn't get too hot and they did have a ceiling fan). The reception on the tv was bad, really bad. Not 1 channel was watchable...The fridge didn't work but at least the sheets were clean and the place was quiet.
For a quick one night stay, it's a cheap and tolerable option. You get what you pay for...altough i did pay $120 for the night. If you can book ahead of time there are probably a few dozen better options.

End of the year a very busy time lots of tourists and yes you have to be friendly efficient and quick. Shame you missed the lovely pool it's very popular. As the new owners we have checked and undertaken a comprehensive maintance schedule so all things being normal we shouldn't have any problems in the future.

Great location near the local shops and coach station, local bus stop not far away either but everything in town is pretty compact, very comfortable bed, fairly decent TV, had all the other facilities I needed including kettle with tea and coffee, nice hot water in the shower, pretty satisfied.
I didn't have much interaction with staff at all, nor did I hear any street noise for the 2 nights I was there, and I didn't use the pool as I went to the beach instead, so I can't comment much else on those.
