Detailed Reviews
Level concrete pads for placing your caravan or camper on to. Small caravan park with sealed driveways around the park. Clean amenities with paper towel. Shower curtain and rubber mat in shower cubicle. Water at our site was undrinkable. The clothesline wasn’t functional because it was small, up against a wall in a secluded area where it wouldn’t get much breeze and had a garden underneath it. Cost was $39/night for a powered site, discounted to $35.10/night for seniors.

This little caravan park is across the road from the river, not on the riverfront exactly. We had site 9 and 10 which I think were the best. They were close to the front. I liked them because they were relatively private and close to the bbq facility (which was spotless!) Amenities were dated but absolutely spotless. Park was very quiet overall. Lovely people. Great owners who worked really hard on the park upkeep. Short walk into Maclean itself and to the fisherman’s co-op. The Maclean market (see photo) was on also so it was good to be close by. I would recommend staying here out of the hustle and bustle of Yamba

I stayed at the Maclean Riverside Caravan Park in June while visiting relatives. We had a studio cabin, which was large and clean. All linen was supplied. The studio cabin was one large room with a kitchen with full size refrigerator, microwave, hotplates, electric frypan, toaster, heater, electric jug and all the crockery and cooking utensils you could need. There was a comfortable queen size bed, and an ensuite shower and toilet.
The TV had Austar connected.
The cabin was spotless and there was complimentary tea and coffee. The cabin was a good alternative to a motel as it was cheaper and larger. The location is good as it is walking distance into Maclean and it is behind a petrol station that has a great convenience shop.
The park is small and compact, but very well maintained. The only negative was that the parking spot for the cabin was a bit of a tight squeeze.
Great value for money and exceptionally clean.

We have stayed at this park many times before BUT it has now changed hands. We arrived at 11.30 am and asked about the availability of a powered site. We were told to come back at 2pm or, if we wanted the site now, we would have to pay an additional 50%. Needless to say, we opted to go to Yamba. Not a good attitude from these managers - will not be returning.

Response from Sharon Hearne, General Manager at Maclean Riverside Caravan Park
Responded 11 June 2021
Hi Diana As new owners of the Park I am truly sorry that you were met with the “come back response”. I have discussed this in depth with our managers and can assure you it will not happen again in our Park. My view on the matter is that if you arrived early and the site was vacant you should have been made feel welcome. Many thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback, this is how we improve. I wish you safe travels. Kind regards

Cabin was dirty, our feet were black from walking on the floor, every screen on the cabin had holes so we couldn’t open the windows. When we did open the windows during the day we were infested with ants and other bugs. On the upside, they did supply Mortein. Shower was filthy and rat or mouse poo was behind the couch. We ended up purchasing cleaning stuff just to make the place half decent. We were also came back on two occasions to find the camper van making use of our car park as a dining area. Topped it off!

We found the Maclean riverside Caravan Park and Managers, Kathy & John, just wonderful. Just a small Park with approx. 7 sites, and lots of cabins. However, it is situated across the road from the beautiful Clarence River, within 5 minutes walk to the delightful town of Maclean ("the Scottish town in Australia"). Yamba on the NSW coast is approx. 10 minute drive. The amenities in the Park are excellent - you may as well have been in your bathroom at home !! We loved our stay there and hope to return one day.

We stayed as a stopover from our trip to Sydney to Brisbane and were very pleased with our studio cabin. Quite large, impeccably clean and all the linen & utensils you need for even a long stay if you needed. It was also very quiet considering that the vans/cabins are very close together & ours was near the road. The hosts were lovely & it was great they gave us a little bottle of milk for our tea/coffee in the morning. It is walking distance to town to the pubs/cafes & it was great to walk along the river to get there.

this caravan park is situated in Maclean only a couple of kilometres off the highway. It is a small, clean and inexpensive park across from the picturesque river and a short walk to town. The staff are friendly and helpful. Always enjoy a restful sleep when travelling from Sydney to Brisbane.

Stayed in a cabin on 7/2/2013, clean and spacious with every amenity. Peaceful at night. Owners very friendly, gave me fresh milk for morning coffee. Would highly recommend this park in an interesting little town. Staying again in April 2014.

My husband and I stayed here, on one of their caravan sites. It would have to be the worst caravan site we've stayed on in our 15 years of vanning. We paid for two nights ($50) and only stayed one. As you enter the 'park' there are four small, and perhaps I should say miniscule, sites. These sites are advertised as 'drive through sites' and once your van is in, there is only 1 metre between each van. The adjoining three sites to ours had grass but ours had dirt, to put our outdoor chairs on. The four sites all had vans on them at the end of the day, and when it came time to leave in the morning, three of us had to negotiate how we were going to get out! The van two up from us and ourselves had to move forwards/backwards, so the middle van could get out. It appears that when they constructed the 'park' they had a small patch left over and some bright spark said 'we could fit four vans in there'. Due to the tightness of the sites, if you were to have a noisy neighbour it would be a most unpleasant stay. When we talked to the other two van owners about how we were going to get out the next morning, they agreed with us that they would NEVER stay here again. The amenities were fine and it is in a convenient position BUT that is all I could positively say about it. After we left MacLean our next night's stay was $32. It was truly value for money compared to $25 at MacLean. Someone we spoke to later on our travels told us they would never stay where we had and that when they go to MacLean they stay at the showground.
