We really enjoyed our stay at Ebbtide. The location suited us, & it's a short walk down to the lovely Ned's Beach.

We found Julie & Emma very helpful, including collecting & taking us to the air strip & a quick local tour. Our apartment was spotlessly clean, & we enjoyed sitting on the balcony. There was little noise from other guests, possibly because school was about to start so not many kids with families.

Out hosts provided us with a lovely kingfish sashimi lunch, well worth the $25. Also - take some cash, this didn't occur to us as we always use EFTPOS - the islanders appreciate cash payment & at Ebbtide we did buy food & beer, & unfortunately didn't have cash that we should have paid with. (Next time.)

I'd definitely stay there again.

Some considerations for readers:
* There are a lot of birds in the forest surrounding the apartments so if nature bothers you, BYO earplugs. There is also no microwave in the apartment, but all crockery & cutlery & bedding
* You will need to cycle or walk everywhere. We liked this & we certainly improved our fitness. It's about 20 minute walk to the few shops on the island, and Lagoon Beach for snorkelling & local tours
* We loved that there is no mobile phone coverage, and that wifi is very limited
* BYO small foods you like such as coffee, condiments, etc. The grocery stores have limited everything.
* Shops are open at island hours & not at all sometimes - so plan for that.
* Remember you're on a remote island!!

My husband and I had 7 nights in apartment 3 at Ebbtide. The trip was delayed by 12 months due to COVID but communication with Julie made it very easy to rebook.
We were greeted at the airport by Emma who then gave us a tour of the island as well as stopping by the liquor store and Joy's supermarket for supplies. The accommodation is set up the top of the hill, about a 10 min walk to and from the main shops which means it's nice a peaceful, always. Everything was very clean and well equipped, we were incredibly comfortable and the apartments are spacious. We took advantage of being on holiday to dine out most days, but the kitchen was well set up with basics for cooking your own meals. A big thanks to Emma who drove us to various restaurants at 6:30 most days and told us all the tips and tricks of life on the island. The transit room has another toilet, shower, washing machine and detergent, bags, backpacks, books, board games, shoes, umbrellas and food and drink in case you run out. Wi-fi is limited but was great for email and messages to keep in touch, we enjoyed the opportunity to switch off.
Thank you for being so friendly and accommodating. We expected this would be a once-off trip of a lifetime but we would love to come back and would highly recommend Ebbtide to everyone.

Fabulous service and beautiful setting. 10 minutes walk through the bush to Ned’s Beach. Wonderful herb salad and vege garden we were encouraged to help ourselves to. Offered fresh Kingfish and Trevally just caught by our hosts for a mere $20 a plate - enough for dinner for 2 or 3. Looked after us when the winds meant we got stuck for extra days. We stayed in one of the simple, very clean and comfortable Garden apartment. Lovely aspect surrounded by garden and a wood BBQ to ourselves. Have already booked my return stay!

The location was great especially as there is a little track which brings you down to the beach in just a few minutes. The island itself is beautiful. The rooms are very basic really considering it was costing me the same as whatIi pay to rent a house for a few months in Japan, for just a week on the island and not including meals ( unless you count the free bananas! )That gives you an idea of how expensive it is. Yes, I knew that going in, but I guess I expected a bit more.
Had a great stay except for the last day when the rain hit the island with a vengeance and my planned hike was cancelled. Next morning being my last, I decided to walk down to the beach again and take a few last minute photos and had misunderstood the time the staff were shuttling me back to the airport. My fault perhaps, but suddenly the mask dropped and I experienced some rudeness from the staff.(I guess they had already got my money by then!).Overall I'd say the location was nice, it's way overpriced though and my leaving experience left a bitter taste.Of course your experience may be different. I held off on posting comments for quite a while as it seemed a bit mean to complain but hey..I'm just being honest.
Would love to visit the island again but would try another place to stay.

Thanks for your feed back. Lord Howe is unfortunately an expensive destination, we are very remote and everything must be shipped in to the Island. Our advertising is very honest and informative of what the rooms and accommodation are like. I'm sorry you felt some unpleasantness from staff, this is not what we expect. As it is the responsibility of the accommodation provider to get you to the airport on time we must try and maintain a schedule to comply with flight check in times. We do hope you visit Lord Howe again.

I can't get enough of Ebbtide and Lord Howe. My kids love the freedom and access to their own games and swimming equipment in the transit room. They can grab what they need when they need it. Also the location of Ebbtide is perfect for access to Neds and quick ride down the hill to grab the morning coffees. Even in Winter we got cracking weather and great guidance on things to do from Em. We stayed in the family room which was perfect for our family of 4 (kids are 9 and 11). Remember if coming to Lord Howe it is remote, there is no 7Eleven or Aldis and late night shopping does not exist. Appreciate it for the remoteness and being able to detach from your every day life.

We stayed in the Admiralty View apartment and had our own verandah overlooking the Admiralty Islands. This included our own Webber BBQ where we cooked a meal with vegetables from the garden. There was a table on the verandah and also inside depending on the weather. Other nights we got a lift to a restaurant.

The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern and well set out. (Note: bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Soap was provided).

There is a transit room where you can borrow beach/snorkelling equipment based or buy beer and other basics on an honesty system. There is also a bathroom for those that are leaving later so you can enjoy your last day on the island

Yes, this accomodation is on the higher side of LHI so it is best to plan your day to only walk back up the hill at the end of the day. Saying that there is a walking track to Ned’s Beach which is wonderful for feeding fish, walking on the beach, snorkelling or having a picnic. There was also a seat and table at the top of the walk with good views. Great place to have your coffee in the morning.

We loved our stay at Ebbtide. A family of four the room setup in the cottage was lovely with two rooms and a wide balcony that overlooked a beautiful garden. Emma was delightful and so helpful stopping at the shop on the way from the airport for our basics and then we BBQ'd and ate salads from the garden. Tough ride back up the hill each night but so worth it when you could hear the waves crashing as we BBQ on our own little BBQ. Great family fun. Really appreciated the flippers, backpacks, beach umbrellas and great beach towels - made the stay so easy. Thanks Emma for lending me the glue to put my shoes back together!!!
We will be back, we loved it. Thank you

Our group nearly booked Ebbtide out, occupying three apartments and a cottage for a multi-generation family celebration. We were so well looked after from the second Emma collected us at the airport. She and Julie strike a great relaxed balance between friendly availablity and privacy for their guests. There are thoughtful touches and details everywhere, from the amazingly well stocked transit room with books, snorkeling gear, backpacks to use, to the veggie garden with herbs and greens for guests to use. The accommodation was fresh and modern, and stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Even the artwork was so thoughtfully chosen, highlighting local artists, views, and island history. Highly recommended!

My adult children and my husband and I stayed here in November to attend their wedding. We were smitten by the calm, lush tropical gardens, friendly atmosphere and lovely hosts. On the wedding day they drove us to the venue, helped make the bouquets from garden flowers, and found us an alternative wedding location when the heavens opened up. Home grown bananas delivered to our balcony and relaxed service made it so memorable. Immaculate accommodation. We had a bbq on the beach with fresh fish supplied by Ebbtide. Close to Neds beach is a plus. Huge thanks to Julie and Emma.see you next time!

We had the most amazing time on Lord Howe Island with our family. Our accomodation was clean and very nice, Emma and Julie supplied us with everything we needed and more. They showed us where to walk and swim and their knowledge of the Island was excellent- they were fantastic with the kids and took us to hire bikes and supplied us with snorkelling and other beach toys for the kids. I couldn’t recommend Ebbtide apartments more highly - it was great having a self contained place and we were able to give the kids breakfast and dinner at home which is just so good when you have kids. An unforgettable holiday thanks so much Emma and Julie
