We spent two weeks at Waimarie last December and had the most amazing time. Peter and Sharon are great hosts; on arrival Peter took us for a drive around the entire island pointing out places of interest and from there it only got better. We hired both apartments as we were with our 3 children (they are not inter-leading but this wasn't an issue for us). The apartments were beautiful, with a great outlook towards the mountains and the sea and were very clean with all essentials for a self-contained stay. We also made good use of the outdoor BBQ. In the evenings the kids would run around on the grass in front of Mt Gower and at night we would stand under a canopy of stars that was incredible. Waimarie is the perfect place to stay when holidaying on this Island Paradise. The apartment, whilst secluded has views to the coral reef lagoon. Just a couple of steps from the deck affords views to the majestic Mt GOWER. Sharon and Peter are perfect hosts that go beyond expectations and made our 7 night stay one of the most enjoyable holidays we have ever experienced. This holiday was a surprise mystery trip to celebrate my husbands 75th and the help from Sharon and Peter made it all work out perfectly. We were met at the airport by Sharon and taken on an orientation tour by car before arriving at our well appointed comfortable apartment. Having a kitchen facility and internet is nice. As mentioned by others, we had complimentary Champagne provided which was also very nice. Sharon and Peter are both super people and are happy to help you get to and from restaurants and the airport where necessary. We arrived on Sunday from Brisbane on the Qantas weekly flight and returned to Brisbane the following Sunday. More regular flights come from Sydney. Be aware that checked bag limits apply and you are restricted to 14kg checked bag. Carry on is still 7kg per bag. What a gorgeous place. I was in desperate need of a relaxing holiday with a water view and Waimarie fitted the bill perfectly. Not many others have the water views but here we had the bonus of nearby Mt Gower & Mt Lidgbird as well. Loved watching the occasional plane take off and land too. Our thanks again to Sharon and Peter who were thoroughly delightful. The apartment was extremely well appointed with many little touches of luxury that made us feel very comfortable and welcome. We greatly appreciated the offers of transport to our nightime restaurants and other places, though not always needed because shops and other facilities are only a 15 minute walk away. We cannot thank Sharon and Peter enough for our amazing stay at Waimarie Apartments and Lord Howe Island. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by their warm hospitality and the beauty of the island they are lucky enough to call home. The apartments and setting at Waimarie were simply stunning. There is a reason why Waimarie has received 42 (now 43) consecutive excellent ratings; and that is because there is no exceptional rating! Everything about Waimarie is done to the highest standards, from the German kitchen knives to the quality manchester (Jen loved the French linen sheets), the special soaps and shampoos in the bathroom and the thoughtful presentation you find on arriving. There is a comprehensive array of detail about the island including books and activities guides. Add to this the perfect setting and the sense of relaxation it creates. What more could you ask for? Sharon has thought of everything in her beautiful Waemarie Apartments. Crisp linen sheets, freshly ground coffee, photographic guides to the island, a huge map, picnic sets and the list goes on. Sharon was so helpful and generous with her information about the island, taking us for a drive around the island as soon as she picked us up from the airport. The apartments are in a great spot, very private and very scenic. It’s a 15 min walk into the centre of town or 5 min bike ride. We delighted in cooking our own fish barbecue in the lovely outdoor area with Mt Gower as a backdrop. I can’t recommend Waemarie enough.

I stayed at Waimarie for 5 nights, on my first trip to Lord Howe Island. Booking was easy, and Sharon sent lots of helpful information through a week or so before I was due to arrive. She met my flight and did a quick drive around the island to help me get oriented before we headed back to the apartment. The apartment was lovely, very comfortable and recently refurbished. It's a decent size, with a well equipped kitchen and huge bathroom. It was very easy to feel at home there, and Sharon had stocked the kitchen with tea, coffee, sourdough, home made slice, fresh eggs and basic cooking essentials (oil, salt, pepper, etc). We recently stayed at Waimarie for 6 nights. We were so relieved to find the modern, clean accommodation, with views and a super comfortable King size bed and decent pillows. Before arriving we had spent 6 nights in another accommodation on the island where everything was the opposite to Waimarie, and it was like Waimarie rescued our experience and views of LHI in many ways. During our stay we cycled around and looked at all the accommodation that was in this price range, or below, and we loved the fact that we felt that at least our second choice was our best choice. Our first trip to LHI which was excellent. We would highly recommend Waimarie. The accommodation has been nicely renovated with plenty of nice touches to add to the stay.
